Bone The Fish - Most Recent Comments!

Who said you can't coin your own term? What is "Boning the Fish"? It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite TV Show, Celebrity, Movie Series or Music Group has reached its peak. That instant you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it a climax of sorts. We call it "Boning the fish". From that moment on things will simply never be the same.

Moody Blues, The - Music Groups
If fans had a say about who gets inducted into the rock hall of fame, they would have been inducted in their first year of eligibility, yet the powers that be continue to snub them. Overall, they never boned but they did have their share of missteps, including "Sitting at the Wheel" which sounds almost like "Running on Empty." -- Submitted By: (JayD) on October 30, 2012, 5:33 pm

America (band) - Music Groups
Never boned, and they beat out the Eagles for best new artist at the grammies back in the early 70s. Of course the Eagles would go on to eclipse America in success, but it didn't mean that America's music is inferior. It isn't. Anyway, Rhino put out a great 22 song hits package about a decade ago that covered their entire career, yet it's harder to find these days than their still in print Greatest Hits album from the mid 70s. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on October 30, 2012, 5:22 pm

Steve Miller Band - Music Groups
Good stuff but his mid to late 70s material is overplayed on classic rock stations, that is songs that appear on his greatest hits(74-78)album which for some reason is still available despite a more recent and more comprehensive collection that had been available for a while and could now be out of print. This one has a few of his early songs like "Living in the USA" and "Space Cowboy." -- Submitted By: (JayD) on October 30, 2012, 5:07 pm

Dr. Seuss movies (live-action) - Movie Series
The live-action Grinch wasn't horrible, but it certainly wasn't as good as the animated version. The live action Cat in the Hat? Let's just say that the only thing I really liked about the film was that it's the reason why there haven't been any more live action movies based on Dr. Suess' books. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on October 28, 2012, 5:41 pm

Martin (TV Series) - TV Shows
What I never got about this show were all the characters he played. The show was like two shows within a show. You had a show with Martin, Gina, his friends and their adventures then you had an off the wall show with Martin doing zany things with the other characters he played. I much preferred the former to the latter and when the show went more in the direction of the latter, it really started to become unwatchable. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on October 25, 2012, 5:09 pm

WGN - Random Topics
The WGN which airs locally in Chicago is not the same as WGN America. Basically, the only programming the two separate entities both air are Cubs baseball games and the local Chicago area news. While WGN America airs the likes of Scrubs, Til Death, Matlock, In the Heat of the Night, Walker Texas Ranger and America's Funniest Home Videos, the local WGN in Chicago airs programming such as 30 Rock, Friends, Andy Griffith Show, a 5 hour daily morning news program, Live with Kelly and Michael and Two and a Half Men. Yeah, I tried to give him as much doubt's benefit as possible for the longest time but there simply seems to be too much smoke for there to have been apparently zero ignition on his part. Oh, and now the Tour de France is supposed to from now on have NO 'official' winners re those seven years. Jeannie (Animated Series) - TV Shows
I saw this but even back then was puzzled at why they bothered to have the character of Baboo. Did the networks think that having a teen boy finding a gorgeous girl djini in a bottle be too provocative for Saturday morning cartoons so was Baboo supposed to be a 'chaperone' along with 'comic relief'? At least the boy knew that Jeannie had absolutely NOTHING going on with Baboo despite having to be cramped up for centuries in the same bottle. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 18, 2012, 7:22 pm

Travoltron, I agree with you on both points here! She did an excellent job on "Major Dad" AND it's good to hear that she's evidently still with us at this time! Happy Feet - Movie Series
Well, I watched Happy Feet 2. The global warming message is anything but subtle this time. There are also scientific inaccuracies: as "Sven the flying penguin" is described, we see a flashback: polar bears stand on a rapidly melting ice berg, which soon melts to nothing. It just reinforces a scientific inaccuracy: penguin/polar bear coexistence. Polar Bears live in the North pole, penguins live in the South pole. They don't live together in the wild! Also, the B plot line involving the krill is irrelevant. All they do is inject themselves into scenes, adding bupkis to the story. They're more like streakers running across a baseball field, interrupting the game. And they're cliche: small creatures questioning their lot in life. Way to put on that originality cap! Not to mention Sven leads the penguins to singing the Numa Numa Dance song (Dragostea din tei). What were they thinking?! And at one part, I could've sworn I heard the penguin chick singing the bassline for Ice Ice Baby. And the credits are impossible to read. They start infinitesimal at the bottom of the screen, becoming larger as they reach the top. They become barely legible in the middle, hardly giving you time to read who did whose voice. I had to go online to find out who did the voice of Sven! Speaking of which, here's the first plus side: Sven was voiced by Hank Azaria, performing a very convincing Swedish accent. Another one: There's a part where we hear the Russian choir version of We Are the Champions, which is interesting. -- Submitted By: () on October 15, 2012, 9:39 pm

Chappelle's Show - TV Shows
A very funny series. I watched the two seasons so many times. I agree that the show was going in a direction that wasn't very positive and because the show is named Chappelle show. I understand why he backed out. The show took many risk in terms of racial insensitivity and with the 3rd season im sure producers wanted to take even more. The turning point for me really was when I heard a classmate explaining a joke from the show and he was repeating it word for word, n-word and everything. I know its a new age and it wasn't meant to offend me but it did kinda make me uncomfortable. Thats when I realized that the show wasn't so much a positive form of entertainment. Say what you want..."its just jokes"..yeah thats true but some of his jokes were too far to be on television. -- Submitted By: (Elz) on October 13, 2012, 5:59 pm

Martin (TV Series) - TV Shows
Martin is one of those shows that will remain funny for a long time despite being a 90's show. It definitely started dying with the whole harassment lawsuit issue and Martin movie career. Gina stopped being filmed in the same scenes as Martin, the jokes started getting sour, minor character's role increased, and martin just wasn't as lively anymore. If you watched the show then you know that it was really time for it to end in terms of story writing, I mean Martin changed careers, got married, and still ived in that apartment.. what else do we need to see? Him have kids? If you're just starting to watch the show..ill warn you that the seasons that had the cgi style martin in the intro are the worse ones with some exceptions. -- Submitted By: (Elz) on October 13, 2012, 5:21 pm

I'm going on record to predict that season 4 will be the boning moment of this show. Why? First, new baby. Second, more and more emphasis on guest stars. L.A. Law - TV Shows
Overall decent, but there were some dumb episodes here. Who remembers the one about the famous play producer who had a nervous breakdown after the death of his wife and Jill Eikenberry walks in on trying to ride his desk chair like a horse in his underwear? That was an "interesting" scene. How about the "Salamander", a washed up superhero who couldn't get past his identity crisis and almost kills himself trying a courtroom stunt in character? "Salamander Salamander Onward Ho!" It guess that would be kinda funny if the premise wasn't so sad. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on October 9, 2012, 4:14 pm

Joanie Loves Chachi - TV Shows
OK, "most" people agree this show skd from day one, but what about specific stuff that you hated about it? I recall that one of the members of their "band" was this frizzy-longish-haired space cadet. Seeing this guy all I could think was "Good God! Don't tell me they're going to try to inject the drug culture into a show revolving around Happy Days characters!" Thankfully it didn't last long enough for that. Even "The Wonder Years" knew enough to make that only a passing reference most of the time. In the proper context it's OK, but to have it just for the sake of having it is a bone......kinda like the AIDS storyline in "Life Goes On". -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on October 9, 2012, 4:01 pm

Jeffersons, The - TV Shows
"Musical Lionels" didn't kill this show, but it sure stole from its credibility. "Replacement Lionel" was so one-dimensional they ended up writing the character out altogether rather than continue the travesty. How can you replace Mike Evans as Lionel? He played it so perfectly, even if his funniest, edgiest bits were on All In The Family and not really this. Fortunately, when "Lionel" later returned, it was with Mike Evans, which is how it should be. R.I.P. Mike Evans. He died young. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on October 9, 2012, 3:57 pm

But if there's one thing I absolutely cannot stand, it's TV shows/movies set in the distant past where everyone acts just like people do today, with the clear message being "See? People have ALWAYS acted like this, therefore acting like this is perfectly fine!" And they genuinely expect the viewer to believe that half of all teen girls in the 50s were getting knocked up, or people cursed all the time in public in the 30s, or school shootings happened all the time in the 70s. It really is an especially insidious form of brainwashing. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on October 8, 2012, 8:36 pm

Laff-A-Lympics - TV Shows
Robert, That's good news because if the 'heroes' won ALL the time, there'd be no suspense or interest in said race! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 8, 2012, 8:22 pm

What's My Line? - TV Shows
A downright cool game show in which the panel would have to pinpoint via yes+ no questions what a contestant's vocation was or, in the case of Mystery Guests the panel would pinpoint who these stars were. What's interesting is that often one see women doing jobs/tasks few viewers would have imagined women doing back in the pre-liberated 1950's and 1960's so this unexpectedly helped broaden horizons. Also, it was interesting to see how contestants and panelists could keep their cool even in rather upsetting situations [e.g. a stage crasher attempted to disrupt the then hot Melina Mercouri's turn by attempting to pitch something on air which prompted a swift removal by the 'second unit'. Anyway, not only did Miss Mercouri keep her cool but NONE of the panelists considered taking off their blindfolds to see what had happened and all continued with the game without any further problems]. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 8, 2012, 8:20 pm

Facebook - Websites
Travoltron, Please explain to me [Facebook phobe that I am] how it technically is easier to sign up to Facebook and 'friend' these other folks than to simply type a few e-mail addresses on an address line? And is said 'ease' truly worth the risks of lifelong headaches and problems resulting from getting mixed up with Facebook? -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 8, 2012, 8:01 pm

Baby, I'm Back - TV Shows
Parker, YES! She was Denise Nicholas whom I can recall helping the relieve the tedium of the otherwise tedious "Room 222" long before [ a rather boring show even back then but oddly enough got referenced by Lisa Douglas on "Green Acres" once]. I don't know what she's doing now but let's just say when Carroll O'Connor hooked up with her on "Heat of the Night" one could definitely say he'd 'moved on up' from Edith [as nice as that character had been]! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 8, 2012, 7:57 pm

Josie and the Pussycats - TV Shows
OK, I messed up that credit but the only viddles I'd be feeding Audrey would be Agent Orange!LOL -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 8, 2012, 7:49 pm

Joss Whedon - Celebrities
If Joss Whedon had any kind of boning, I can say that The Avengers was an unboning moment for him. One thing I loved about the movie was that it was a superhero film that was able to have humorous moments without having the humor ruin the movie. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on October 8, 2012, 7:38 pm

Sesame Street - TV Shows
I loved Sesame Street as a kid, but when people care more about a TV station and a kids program than they do about our sluggish economy, ever growing debt, ever rising tax rate and a flawed health care plan, I have major concerns about our country. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on October 8, 2012, 6:04 pm

Sesame Street - TV Shows
Big Bird & Co. don't need PBS anyways, and i can't remember the last time i even watched PBS. I'm sure if the plug did get pulled, Sesame Street would have no trouble finding another kid-oriented tv network..Nickelodeon maybe -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on October 8, 2012, 5:20 pm

Last Man Standing - TV Shows
yea there are only a few shows, like Roseanne and Fresh Prince, that survived cast changes like that..but rapid age, a major replacement, AND two minors? I'll have tartar sauce with that! -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on October 8, 2012, 5:10 pm

David Beckham - Celebrities
Baseball has Derek Jeter. Soccer has David Beckham. Yes, he was a very good player, but not like how everybody made him out to be. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on October 8, 2012, 1:15 pm
