Bone The Fish - Most Recent Comments!

Who said you can't coin your own term? What is "Boning the Fish"? It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite TV Show, Celebrity, Movie Series or Music Group has reached its peak. That instant you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it a climax of sorts. We call it "Boning the fish". From that moment on things will simply never be the same.

Family Matters - TV Shows
To SSM: Sorry about all of the "fantasy" episodes and non-existent wedding conclusions and all, but the network could not have cancelled this show quick enough. Simply horrid on every level. Later, White proved his complete entertainment incompetence by appearing in one of the worst movies of ll-time, "Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer." -- Submitted By: (GregEichelberger) on January 10, 2013, 8:08 pm

The show once had an entire episode dedicated to the world's lamest television animal (Comet or Cupid, or something like that). Is there ny reason to write anything else other than it was one of the single WORST TV shows in history? -- Submitted By: (GregEichelberger) on January 10, 2013, 7:49 pm

Streets Of San Francisco, The - TV Shows
I used to read "MAD" magazine as a kid and in a 1974 issue, they parodied this show as "The Straights Of San Francisco." Of course, I had NO idea what that meant and would not learn until years later. -- Submitted By: (GregEichelberger) on January 10, 2013, 7:41 pm

Happy Days - TV Shows
Just saw an episode from 1978 - on a local retro station - where Fonzie goes blind from being hit with a tray. This was a couple of seasons after the show jumped the fish, so one would not expect much. It was a surprise, though, just how horrid the writing was. The next episode aired was when Henry Winkler's character rode a bull to save some kind of a dude ranch owned by Marion's "Uncle Ben." By this time, the shows were centering more and more on the ridiculous Fonzie while everyone else was pretty much pushed to the back burner. Later, the show went into a complete nosedive as Richie joined the Army and Fonz got married and had Heather O'Rourke. -- Submitted By: (GregEichelberger) on January 10, 2013, 7:27 pm

Al Gore - Celebrities
In a telling moment of Gore's character, he sold his lame Current TV channel to Al-Jazeera. Besides the fact Al-Jazeera is a propaganda channel, it is also subsidized by big oil money from Qatar. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 8, 2013, 6:28 pm

Jennifer Garner - Celebrities
Her acting ability isn't that great. I liked her on Alias and she's done a few good movies (Juno for example), but nothing award winning. She isn't what I'd call hot per say, but she's definitely attractive. She's pretty much average for me when it comes to Hollywood actresses. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on January 8, 2013, 3:22 pm

Drew Carey Show, The - TV Shows
The show peaked in about 2001, until Drew met his nephew in his coma, and from there it was a steep decline: Kate leaving, Steve leaving, Never Ending Store, King Gus' speedy aging. I couldn't even bear to watch the last few season, though the little-seen finale was actually decent, bringing back original writers to bring the show back to where it was in 1996. -- Submitted By: (WalterSobchak) on January 8, 2013, 3:28 am

Marvel Comics - Random Topics
ultimately the issue is that these corporate characters enver have an "end" to the story- Wolverine has been the plucky outsider for 35 years now, Peter Parker is a teen, married, then a teen again. It's like the story of Hagar the Horrible, he makes you laugh in the papers each week, and it' status quo for 60 years. Go read indy comics or Manga, it's for the adult that enjoys real stories, not Marvel's shcok and CHANGE OF THE WEEK to drive sales into their corporate coffers. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on January 7, 2013, 9:13 pm

"This change is permanent! Peter Parker is dead!!" I don't understand why the comic companies lie like this. Anyone that has ever read comics knows this game by now. Like they're really going to leave some creepy old dude as Spider-Man. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 7, 2013, 12:40 pm

Jennifer Garner - Celebrities
I've seen her in two shows; 13 going on 30 ("Big" for girls)and Alias, in that order. Her facial expressions in both shows are the same, so when I watched Alias, it was hard to believe she was a CIA agent. I guess what I'm saying is she has the same acting abilities as cardboard, just not as amusing. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on January 7, 2013, 11:43 am

Star Wars - Movie Series
Totally agree with the Ewoks were the beginning of the filet knife coming to Bone Star War's fish.... holding out hope Disney can bring some semblance of less suck to this propery. Maybe just release the original versions of the films. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on January 6, 2013, 11:27 pm

How I Met Your Mother - TV Shows
I'm surprised how well the show has held up for me. It is dragging out the premise a bit, but assuming they wrap it up well in the next season and a half it could remain never boned to they end. That may be too many episodes and introducing the mother too soon could kill it too. If they go beyond a ninth season it is sure to get boned. I actually like the trajectory of the Barney character. He showed plenty of signs of having a heart of gold from the beginning and the transformation has been believable. In many ways the show is less about Ted and more about Barney. -- Submitted By: (moloko5) on January 5, 2013, 9:14 pm

Star Wars - Movie Series
Ewoks. Seriously. You had a series of movies that introduced the most bad ass villain of all time in Darth Vader. It blew away your mind with special effects that hold up well even in the age of CGI. It created entire worlds to capture your imagination. And then we had the classic "untouched by civilization" tribe brings down an empire. Classic story, except in this case they were... wait for it... teddy bears! Had George Lucas had to actually pitch the idea, rather than do whatever he wanted, he would have been laughed out of the studio. The series hasn't recovered since. All the merchandising, whoring out to toy companies and cross overs, remaking things, and the regrettable prequel happened long after the moment Star Wars lost it's legitimate cool. I mean nerds and children still eat it up, but Ewoks irrevocably killed Star Wars' cool. -- Submitted By: (moloko5) on January 5, 2013, 9:03 pm

Roseanne - TV Shows
I agree that it boned it when the Connor's won the lottery. It was losing momentum already with Roseanne getting a gig on the local news to give a "blue collar perspective" among other things, a "very special heart attack," but the lottery win was really the bone it moment. It's one of the better examples, actually. I thought the finale would have been very lame for most shows, but it was a touching finale for Roseanne in that it kind of saved the soul of the show. The Roseanne character was revealed to be a shitty writer, but what happened with the characters "in reality" in the end was much more consistent with where the narrative should have gone. -- Submitted By: (moloko5) on January 5, 2013, 8:49 pm

United States Congress - Random Topics
I know I've already commented, but I feel like pointing out that, from what I've read, the 112th Congress (a.k.a. the Congress that lasted from January 3, 2011 to January 3, 2013) was the most polarized Congress since the reconstruction era of the 1870s, which, IMO, was one of the biggest causes for their record low approval ratings. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on January 4, 2013, 9:00 pm

Mel Blanc - Celebrities
My favorite story as a testament to his ability is in the documentary about his life, Man of a Thousand Voices. Hank Azaria is talking about the episode of Looney Tunes where Bugs is imitating Daffy and Daffy is imitating Bugs to trick Elmer Fudd into shooting the other. Azaria talks about how he and the other cast members of The Simpsons one day were talking about this episode and trying to do the same thing with their characters (Azaria says trying to do Apu as Mo and vice versa, as his example), and how they just couldn't make the two voices distinct. It was a rare talent that Blanc could do just that: his Daffy's Bugs imitation was distinct from his Bugs' Daffy imitation. Simply put, legendary. -- Submitted By: () on January 4, 2013, 3:12 am

Office, The - TV Shows
For me, I didn't envision the show lasting past Steve Carell leaving. It's a simple matter: Despite the fact that The Office functions as an ensemble show, Michael Scott was the emotional crux of the plot. Even if he wasn't always the focus, he was the one you remembered. Even when he was trying to be the center of attention, what he was doing was highlighting how wonderful all these other characters were. With Michael gone, the other characters had to be shifted in characterization because no one had this all-important role in the ensemble anymore. I stopped caring about these characters and their lives. Why? Because Michael Scott cared about them most of all, and he made me care about them in the process. Without him, the rest of the characters are irrelevant. -- Submitted By: (SamuraiPanda201) on January 3, 2013, 8:25 pm

Roundhouse - TV Shows
Roundhouse for me was a superior kid-oriented sketch comedy show, much better than All That. The cast was multi-talented and energetic. The unfortunate death of cast member Dominic Lucero changes the legacy of the show indefinitely, but I think if the show had continued, it would be one of those truly unforgettable and easily recognized Nick shows like Clarissa Explains It All or Rugrats, instead of being the more unsung cult classic that it is. -- Submitted By: (SamuraiPanda201) on January 3, 2013, 8:20 pm

Simpsons, The - TV Shows
Surprised that I didn't see anyone mention the episode where Skinner turned out to be a completely different person. That was terrible. They ripped on that later when they killed Fat Tony and had him replaced. Those were low moments on the show. -- Submitted By: (JMoose) on January 1, 2013, 5:17 am

Simpsons, The - TV Shows
One of the things that strikes me odd while reading some of the comments and reasons on the boned when...list is that most of the people commenting have not really watched alot of episodes and just use sites like these as a soap box to spew their politics. If they really watched the show often enough they would know the show's history of lampooning both major politcal partys. Having gotten that out of the way i would point out mini-btf moments (not complete btf moments because I think the show is still great). I had mentioned guest stars appearing too often on the show which is bad, but the worst is when the guest stars get a completely different reaction from the main characters then they should. The first time I really noticed that was on a really good episode that had Micheal Jackson voicing a huge white man that claimed he was MJ. While the episode was a good one the thing that annoyed me some was that Bart thought MJ was awesome instead of mocking him(which is what the character would have really done). The most cringe worthy guest star moment for me came when they had N'Synch on. Both Nelson(the main bully on the show) and Bart were excited to see them. Nothing against N'Synch, but come on they were a boyband aimed at teen and pre-teen girls and not young boys (ok, Milhouse and Ralph would probably like them, but certainly not Bart and Nelson). -- Submitted By: () on January 1, 2013, 5:12 am

Dang! I came in here, hoping there would be other black viewers who would have the same opinion as I on BET, yet, it is obvious by the top vote that nobody but whites have been in this forum ..*sigh* ...and WHY do y'all keep on w/ the rhetorical questions of a BLACK entertainment Network, etc.? Do you ask women why there is a need for a Women's Day magazine? Do you even question gays on the LOGO channel? Talk about HYPOCRISY! ..and you do not need a WHITE entertainment channel, when 90% of the people you see on tv is white ..I betcha RIGHT NOW that if I turned on the tv to a random station, a white face will appear. So, WHY would I put a label on things in my own home? And BET was conceived back in the early 80s, when MTV, which is, supposedly, a GENERAL music station, WOULD NOT PLAY any black videos! ..But anyways ...BET jumped shark when Bob Johnson sold out to Viacom, and shows w/ substance were removed, such as BET News, BET Tonight (w/ Tavis Smiley), Lead Story, Teen Summit, Video Soul, Carribean Rhythms, etc...and these shows were replaced w/ series, etc., that promoted negativity, such as American Gangsta, BEEF ..and they began to show "Baby Boy" and "Soul Plane" all the time... I think I gave a response that TRULY answers why the channel jumped shark -- Submitted By: () on December 22, 2012, 1:57 am

Unquestionably a legend and unboneable! However; I know that he wished that CARROTS could have been boned from Bugs's menu in that he absolutely hated them but was required to munch on them raw for his most iconic character . All other crunchy vegetables that Mr. Blanc liked such as celery were tried as subs for carrots but, to his chagrin, the sound folks insisted that NOTHING munched like a carrot besides an actual carrot so he was forced to munch on them alone for the duration[but spat them out as soon as he could]. So talented that they were forced to bill him at a time when no other voice artists were credited. RIP, Mr. Blanc. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on December 19, 2012, 1:04 pm

Adventures of Superman - TV Shows
jimdcarter, OK, you got me on timing re the show's cancellation and Reeves death. However; Hollywood has had more talk of series' revivals and pick ups than stars on Hollywood Blvd and only a tiny portion actually have gone into production so my contention that Reeves died after the last episode of the original show had been produced stands. I apologize in advance for sounding cold here but,as unquestionably tragic as it was and however much we may be tempted to speculate on what might have been re a possible future revival, the fact remains that his death had NO impact on the original show itself when it first aired because it was over by the time of his death. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on December 19, 2012, 12:57 pm

WCW Monday Nitro - TV Shows
To add on the Sting-Hogan Starcade '97 match, from what I have read, Sting hadn't really held his end of the bargain up close to the match, coming in out of shape, hurt, and somewhat not prepared. Then again, I had read that from Eric Bischoff's book that I had gotten awhile back, so take that for what it's worth, especially since Hogan and Bischoff are buddies. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 14, 2012, 1:57 pm

Santana - Music Groups
Yes I felt Supernatural was when Santana boned. We got rick rolled thinking we got a Santana album but we really got was guest singers and Santana acting as a lowly studio musician riding others coattails. -- Submitted By: (scatcatpdx) on December 14, 2012, 12:27 am

Isley Brothers, The - Music Groups
Their career is just amazing in the way they transition from 50's do wop to disco and R & B and funk. Most other groups fell aside swept by the winds of musical change. -- Submitted By: (scatcatpdx) on December 14, 2012, 12:16 am

Academy Awards, The - Random Topics
This isn't related to the Oscars (rather, the Golden Globes), but the Golden Globes nominations this year have quite a lot of snubs. For example, neither "The Avengers" nor "The Dark Knight Rises" were nominated for anything, and the only nomination that "Skyfall" got was for "Best Original Song." I'm also a bit surprised that neither "Paranorman" nor "Madagascar 3" were nominated for "Best Animated Feature." -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on December 13, 2012, 5:41 pm

Bob Seger - Music Groups
Shakedown was Bob's only #1 Billboard pop single, which is a shame because it's awful. His peak period was in the 1970's. -- Submitted By: (John63btf) on December 13, 2012, 9:44 am

Bee Gees - Music Groups
Disagree, their best disco hits did have staying power. There was a lot of disposible songs that came out of disco (which happens when any genre of music gets too popular), but there was also some great stuff as well. -- Submitted By: (John63btf) on December 13, 2012, 9:37 am

Youtube - Websites
Youtube is getting worse and worse, not only they change the layout without any warning, they forces you to login by typing in your full gmail address instead of your youtube username. Bad enough you gotta have your gmail just to get a youtube account but now they forces you to type your gmail adress to login now. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on December 11, 2012, 7:25 pm

Hooperman - TV Shows
I really enjoyed this show.A good mix of comedy and drama that didn't get enough time to find it's audience. It's sad that it didn't last longer than it did. Much better than Three's Company for which most people remember John Ritter (oddly enough I think that was the worst show I saw him in). -- Submitted By: (JMoose) on December 11, 2012, 5:18 am

DolFan, I hope that you didn't give any over-the-hill actress any ideas! The sad part is: you're right; it's just a matter of time before this happens (God save us)! -- Submitted By: (jimdcarter) on December 10, 2012, 10:30 pm

Cosby Show, The - TV Shows
@ Stryker73, exactly...and there were times when Cliff would make a sandwich and sneak back into the living room only to have Claire pop up out of nowhere and snatch it out of his hands in mid bite. I know it's just a show but that used 2 piss me off. Lol. Let the man have a sandwich for God's sake. I could see if he was lighting a crack pipe in the middle of the family room or something but a sandwich? -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on December 10, 2012, 12:15 pm

Cow and Chicken - TV Shows
Cow & Chicken is one of those types of cartoons that when u watch it again when u get older u really think damn they showed this on a cartoon that WASN'T on Adult Swim? lol. I was nowhere near being naive as a kid so i did catch some of the innuendo and gags even then but some of it went over my head til i got old enough to know what they were talking about or doing at times. It wasn't a bad cartoon, in fact, i was a big fan of this and Courage the cowardly dog, Johnny Bravo, etc. -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on December 10, 2012, 12:08 pm

i've never been a huge Mariah fan but i do admit, her album "Emancipation of Mimi" was very good. Most ppl who have it or have heard it probably would agree. -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on December 10, 2012, 11:54 am

Naomi Campbell - Celebrities
I have never found her attractive. Of course her personality sucks but looks wise i always wondered how the hell she was a supermodel. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but i've seriously never got her so-called "appeal" because i don't think she's beautiful. -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on December 10, 2012, 11:28 am

Kitchen Nightmares - TV Shows
I like Kitchen Nightmares, but i admit it's been a couple of times when i was watching and thought it seemed a bit repetitive. Usually Gordon comes in, sits at table, orders and they bring the food out, he tastes it and hates it, goes to kitchen, finds old/and or store bought food and gets into huge argument with owner, etc. I mean they already know Gordon is coming to their restaurant. So some of the outbursts and reactions towards Gordon's actions seem a bit staged. I still watch though cuz the show has it's entertaining moments. But ijs that sometimes i wonder how much of it is actually real cuz i know some of it has to be scripted. -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on December 10, 2012, 11:25 am

Storage Wars - TV Shows
I hate any show that profits on the misery of others. Some poor soul lost their job, can no longer pay his or her storage rent and then these vultures get to profit in his or her misfortune. This turkey boned the fish on day one! -- Submitted By: (jimdcarter) on December 9, 2012, 11:52 am

Youtube - Websites
Geez...just when I'm getting used to the format that I admit I complained about in my last entry about YouTube, they up and change the format/look AGAIN. The way it looks now...a picture of it should be put next to "eyesore" in the dictionary. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on December 9, 2012, 8:24 am

Janeane Garofalo - Celebrities
I said this for Sean Penn, and I reiterate it for Ms. Garofalo - if she hates the U.S. so much and thinks that Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and/or Venezuela is so much better, THEN MOVE THERE AND SHUT THE F@#$% UP. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on December 9, 2012, 8:12 am
