Bone The Fish - Most Recent Comments!

Who said you can't coin your own term? What is "Boning the Fish"? It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite TV Show, Celebrity, Movie Series or Music Group has reached its peak. That instant you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it a climax of sorts. We call it "Boning the fish". From that moment on things will simply never be the same.

That '70s Show - TV Shows
I'm having trouble with the idea that all of the writing, acting, production, humor, etc. could be done or undone by Donna's hair. But when Eric left... bwn3d. -- Submitted By: (creatrix) on April 12, 2009, 9:46 am

Red Dwarf - TV Shows
They should have quit while they were ahead. Kochanski was nowhere near as funny as Rimmer, and they didn't even get the same person to play her. -- Submitted By: (creatrix) on April 12, 2009, 9:35 am

Bones - TV Shows
Why are they introducing supernatural stuff into this show? I was pissed when they made it so we couldn't write off Booth's "ghost" experience as an hallucination because the ghost goes and says hi to Brennan. -- Submitted By: (creatrix) on April 12, 2009, 9:23 am

Buffy The Vampire Slayer - TV Shows
I love this show, too, but the first 3 seasons were absolutely the best. After they demolish the school and Buffy graduates and Willow gets powerful and they befriend Anya... it's just too many superpowers in the mix. I really loved it all the way through, but they never rose to the level of those first 3 seasons again. -- Submitted By: (creatrix) on April 12, 2009, 9:16 am

X-Files - TV Shows
Really, I think the end of season 7 would have been a good series end without the shot of all of the luggage. Season 8 & 9 would have been good if they were a new show, but instead of seeing these for the great stories that they were, all I was seeing was a big lack of Mulder. There were a few storylines that I could have done without earlier in the series - but I think David Duchovny leaving the show was the real fishboner. -- Submitted By: (creatrix) on April 12, 2009, 9:11 am

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - TV Shows

Planet of the Apes - Movie Series
The 2001 remake was great and should have had sequels. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 11, 2009, 8:56 pm

Aladdin - Movie Series
The first movie was great. It was one of the first Disney movies to use computer effects. However, Return of Jafar was horrible. The Rescuers Down Under is a fluke, Disney does not make good sequels. Their movies are not sequel worthy. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 11, 2009, 8:55 pm

Drew Carey Show, The - TV Shows
This show was very funny until Drew and Kate got together. Mr. Wick leaving was the icing on the cake. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 11, 2009, 8:49 pm

E! True Hollywood Story - TV Shows
This show was good when they were profiling celebrities like Marlon Brando and John Belushi. When they were profiling some American Idol and Survivor winners and other flavors of the month it was bad. Now, it is a joke. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 11, 2009, 8:48 pm

My Super Sweet 16 - TV Shows
This show could be used as a training video fro militant anti-American groups to stir up suicidal fanatics to attack the Good 'Ole US of A. My Super Sweet 16 - TV Shows
True though there is a "spin off" where the brats are sent off to 3rd world countries to live for awhile although I think a good spanking back when they were kids would have done a lot better... -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 6:58 pm

Heroes - TV Shows
I've only seen the pilot and didn't care for it. But the reason I'm commenting is to point out that the title is misspelled (it should be "Heroes", not "Heros"). -- Submitted By: (Kenshiroh) on April 10, 2009, 8:55 am

Dancing With the Stars - TV Shows
Show gives viewer a chance to see how "Celebs" act in a world outside their "comfort zone". Never thought I would have positive feeling for Little Kim and Steve-o. Kudos to their sincere efforts. Some "Celebs" come up short -- viewers will never forget the Master P debacle. I enjoy evaluating the performances and checking out the costumes. -- Submitted By: (MamaThunder) on April 10, 2009, 8:31 am

I don't know why they call it Music Television. I can't remember when this all started but now "MTV" has terrible shows like Room Raiders and other monstrous dating shows. JumptheShark.com - Websites
Once upon a time there was a website. The website was intelligent, provoking, funny and more. Then at the end of January 2009 I was shocked. JTS is now a blogsite. They use terms like "Dancing with the sharks". They are using the good old topics like:A Very special, Birth, Color, Exit Stage Left and they post blogs in those topics. Bottom line TVG is using the popular website JTS.com to generate more viewers to the TV Guide website. I hope BTF becomes very popular and TVG will be very very sorry for what they did. RIP JTS January 2009. -- Submitted By: () on April 10, 2009, 2:08 am

Spider-Man - Movie Series
The third movie simply tried to do too much, Green Goblin, Sandman, AND Venom, each of those characters could be developed very well (like Doc Oc) if they were given their own movie. But they weren't so they couldn't, so the movie stunk. If there is a 4th movie they should learn from that mistake. -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 1:59 am

Star Wars - Movie Series
I'd have to say the definitive boning moment was "The Clone Wars" the full on filleting came with the cartoon TV series, two terrible ideas that came about as a result of Lucas trying to milk the series for all it's worth, and pathetic fanboys who pretend to like whatever comes out... -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 1:52 am

Evil Dead - Movie Series
Oh boy I'm gonna catch hell for this but, I don't see the draw to this movie. It was horrible all it was was creepy zombie screaming and a woman getting raped by trees. I know you can't expect a horror movie to be high quality but I STILL don't get the show's draw -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 1:49 am

MTV: Music Television - Random Topics
M-TV Should change it's title to "The Real World/Cribs/Super Sweet 16 Variety Channel" why on earth is a show that's supposed to be dedicated to music spending so much time dealing with spoiled brats, promiscuous college students, and Scarface wannabes? -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 1:18 am

JumptheShark.com - Websites
I hadn't come to JTS in awhile, and I felt like checking up to see if people's eyes had opened to how the Simpsons had become, much to my dismay I was redirected to TV guide page. "No matter" I thought "I'll just find the comments section for individual shows" After searching around I couldn't find that area, in fact i couldn't even find a voting area, all that was there was a bunch of articles written by entertainment journalists (read: people who flunked out of Columbia) on what makes a show jump the shark. I have no ill will against the original owner and I am willing to forgive TV guide, it's their site they can do what they want with it, but I think it was an extremely poor decision... -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 1:16 am

Power Rangers (original) - TV Shows
I voted for never jumped, when I was in the targeted age group I loved the show, and I watched it until the end (of the original run). If I were to watch it now I might not like it but my memories of the show are pretty fond (though I didn't like the way Tommy always had to be the hero...) -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 1:11 am

Clone High - TV Shows
A little known comedy show that got booted before it's time, it really was a good show but since it was on late night M-TV it was doomed. Had it been on Comedy Central or another cable channel it might have faired better -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 1:08 am

Harry Potter - Movie Series
Nah, I think the series is still good, but I don't think that the 3rd movie followed the book well at all, the 4th and 5th ones did a decent enough job but cut out parts that I'd liked to have seen. The sad fact is you can't make a movie based entirely on a book, you have to take things out... -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 12:37 am

Malcolm in the Middle - TV Shows
I don't the show jumped until late in it's run when Stevie got the robotic limbs and attacked Reese, that's just a bit too far for any show. Hayden Whatshername was a low point certainly but there were still a few half decent episodes after that... at least I think there were -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 10, 2009, 12:35 am

Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, The - TV Shows
This show was a good idea but boned because the amount of history experienced and famous people the young Indy met was impossible for anyone in their lifetime. Also, it jumped too much from child Indy to teenage Indy. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 9, 2009, 11:53 pm

Saturday Night Live - TV Shows
This show was bad after Clinton left office. It seemed there were no more good jokes after that. They tried to recover with the weekly Palin jokes but fell flat. The episode with Palin was the first one I had watched in about eight years and I have not watched it since then. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 9, 2009, 6:58 pm

Simpsons, The - TV Shows
This show has boned more times than any show. Its first was with the 1999 season. It tried to be more like South Park and Family Guy. The Simpsons had never resorted to violence and blood, but now they do that more often. There are also too many guest appearances. The movie came out about a decade later than it should have. In all, this show has been dead for about the last eight years and needs to be taken off the air. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 9, 2009, 6:55 pm

Still Standing - TV Shows
Wonderful show that never had a chance to bone. It two potential close calls with Linda getting married and Brian graduating but the show was canceled before that could happen. It would have been nice to have a series finale but it ended while it was on top. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 9, 2009, 6:52 pm

Lindsay Lohan - Celebrities
Truly this walking train wreck is the next Anna Nicole Smith- with her acting career crashing and burning, she has become tabloid cannon fodder which she is unable or unwilling to avoid with her constant creation of new drama that the new and paprazzi are more than willing to throw on the front page on a weekly basis. The sad thing is in a few years, we'll be putting "drug overdose" or "suicide" as her BTF moment. Of course the Samantha Ronson thing is pretty cool- and like the reasons say, "Not that there is anything wrong with that!" -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 8, 2009, 7:58 pm

Terminator - Movie Series
Summer Glau is one of those girls that sometimes looks super hot and then from a different angle I have to stare for a minute to try to decide is she is hot or not. She certainly isn't ugly. I do get the 'heroin addict' comment though. Sometimes she looks so bony that she looks malnurished. -- Submitted By: (rick283) on April 8, 2009, 6:20 pm

Munsters, The - TV Shows
I always liked how Marilyn was in college and had a great deal of interaction with the 'normal' world yet never picked up that it was her bizarre family and not her looks that kept her prospective boyfriends from wanting to get to know her better. Of course, the real fun was Grandpa who was the ultimate non-conformist in the family! I'd just rather forget the 80's syndication revival and movies ever happened. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on April 8, 2009, 5:21 pm

Home Alone - Movie Series
A mother doesn't notice her son's not around until they're on the plane even when they all go through Customs with passports? And, who ever heard of burglars discussing their plans in front targets of their intended break-ins and showing up EXACTLY on time?! Come on! Also, Kevin doing The Scream wasn't as funny the tenth time as it was the first. Yeah, I know this made Culkin a star (for a time) but one viewing of the first of the series was quite enough for me! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on April 8, 2009, 5:10 pm

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood - TV Shows
Gotta admit, I liked watching him when I was in preschool and I'll always be grateful that I learned to snap my fingers just by watching him do the closing song. Unfortunately, when I got older, he seemed a bit boring to me . Hence, if I happened to surf on the show, I'd only stay on his segments if he was taking a field trip to an interesting factory or exotic location (like Moscow during the deathrows of the Soviet Union ). Things would pick up when they'd switch over to the Neighborhood of Make Believe as long as they didn't sing too long and my favorite character Lady Elaine would stir up...trouble. Yeah, I know she looked like a recycled witch puppet in a sweater but she was fun and the only character on the whole show who wasn't a total goody-goody! Ironically, Reverand Rogers' show looks positively Shakespearean compared to so many other kids' shows they have on today- and he never talked down or tried to win over us kids by grossing us out so he has my retrospective respect! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on April 8, 2009, 5:03 pm

Nadya "Octomom" Suleman - Celebrities

Flintstones, The - TV Shows
Although it was often compared to 'The Honeymooners', there was no real angst for any of the characters here. Fred was no tragic clown like Ralph. Still, it was fun watching these grown cavemen Fred and Barney trying so hard not to get nailed by Wilma or Mr. Slate like they were small children. And, of course, we kids watching could easily call out the dumb moves Fred made long before Fred would get burned. Everyone knows that Mel Blanc voiced Barney Rubble but what wasn't well known was that he did about a year of dubbing flat on his back from his bedroom while he was recoupering from a horrible car accident at Deadman's Curve (yes, the very same spot immortalized by Jan+Dean)- and they set up a microphone above his bed for him to do Barney with the other voice cast members joining in! Having Baby Pebbles be born and Bamm-Bamm adopted didn't hurt the cartoon any- and even its many spin offs seemed to only bring in new generations. However; I think something died in the 70's when they changed a line of the immortal theme from 'We'll have a gay old time!' to 'We'll have a GREAT old time!'. Yes, folks even the ivory tower of Hanna Barbera proved it wasn't immune to derision over the changing mainstream definition of gay! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on April 8, 2009, 2:14 pm

Lion King - Movie Series
The sequels were deplorable. With the exception of "The Rescuers Down Under", Disney has never been good at sequels and their movies are never sequel worthy. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 8, 2009, 12:31 pm

Saved by the Bell: The New Class - TV Shows
Watched this show when I was younger it was entertaining. Was the show necessary? No. But I don't blame then for making this after the original was a hit. What really was unecessary was Saved by the bell: The college years. -- Submitted By: (kitchenbreak) on April 8, 2009, 4:57 am

Ozzy Osbourne - Music Groups
Ozzy really BTF after the incredible "No More Tears" Era. The mystique, the quality of the singles and albums have all been signifigantly downhill from there. However this may be a matter of pre internet era, his family was younger and not fame hounds and also musically NMT was the apex of Metal, 80's glam scene, and peak musical performances- it was a true metal classic- it would be hard to match or exceed that. Of course this is Ozzy who has had several "Peaks" in his career- Black Sabbath VOl. 4, Blizzard of Ozz etc. We've been spoiled over the years! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 8, 2009, 4:38 am

Dr. Phil - TV Shows
Sometimes I feel sorry for the people on the show, it's obvious that their personal and emotional problems are being exploited by a hack that calls himself a doctor, then I remember that they're there on their own free will and the pity dissipates, that said Dr. Phil is still jackass for doing it, unless he pays them... -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 11:28 pm

View, The - TV Shows
This show mainly consisted of a group of women chattering about various issues, if I wanted to listen to that I'd go to a hair salon, at least that way I could turn on the hair dryer full blast to down out the clucking. That '70s Show - TV Shows
I don't understand why Donna became a blonde, if people wanted to see blonde bimbos with large breasts they could have watched The OC, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CSI, Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, ER, Law and Order CI, Survivor, American Idol, Scrubs, Saturday Night Live WWE Monday Night Raw, WWE Friday Night Smackdown... I always thought Donna's hair made her unique, but the hair was only a symptom of a larger disease the show had run out of steam, it had been on too long and and basically became The OC with bell bottoms. -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 11:01 pm

8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter - TV Shows
It was a great show, but John Ritter's death was too much for any show to overcome, had they recast the role instead of retooling the show it might have survived, but that would have been too disrespectful to the memory of a great actor. Rage Against the Machine - Music Groups
I have to agree with that, I love the way bands with big selling albums love to deride "corporate America." Talking about the "freedom to starve" makes no sense whatsoever if you're going to deride the USA (and the USA can be validly criticized) don't make ridiculous statements like that... -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 10:33 pm

Dancing With the Stars - TV Shows
I refuse to watch a show that is predicated on celbrity worship, the shows popularity explains why a large percentage of American's can't even name 3 of the freedoms guaranteed in the 1st amendment. -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 10:29 pm

Family Guy - TV Shows
Rick I'd hesitate to say that a pop culture refernce goes over somone's head", that implies that the humor is too sophisticated for them, it doesn't mean that it's based on a reference they don't get. The show hasn't BTF entirely, but every time they do an episode on a social issue it gets annoying, Hitler wearing a McCain Palin button was WAY over the line and the show's brutal treatment of Christians isn't edgy at all, if they were to treat Muslims with that kind of disdain I'd consider edgy but picking on Christians is like picking on the fat kid at recess it's easy pickings (not because Christians deserve it but because bashing Christians is acceptable in today's PC world) Bottom line, if McFarlane doesn't stop putting his talking points into episodes the show will bone and bone big time -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 10:27 pm

Simpsons, The - TV Shows
Just because I show has been on TV a long time doesn't mean it's good, I think a large amount of the public only watches the show now because they don't know what else to watch on Sunday nights. Leno is still a good comedian and seems to be a decent enough guy, I don't see any strong enough evidence that he's BTF though his hissy fit over his tickets being sold on ebay came awful close -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 10:14 pm

King of the Hill - TV Shows
Once Lucky became a regular character the show flatlined, Luane (while never a bright bulb to begin with) became infatuated with a person that would make Jerry Springer's stomach churn, the storylines with him were annoying and shallow and hsi appearance was more or less retoconing (sp) the entire Buckley's Angel storyline where Luane was not meant for Beauty school. While Lucky was the start Peggy joining the Arlen Bystander was also a clue that show was running low on ideas anytime someone with an eyepatch shows up it's hello fishy! -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 10:11 pm

Will & Grace - TV Shows

CSI - TV Shows
The point where I realized it was going downhill was when one of the character kissed a potential suspect while she was investigating a crime scene, the drama from this show came from the evidence, not from who's having sex with whom. -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 10:07 pm

Pink Floyd - Music Groups
I never really liked Pink Floyd that much, I liked "The Wall" and money is ok too but their music just doesn't click with me. I'm fairly certain however that the music would be great if one had just smoked some reefer (I want to stress this is in no way a comment on the band's fans I'm just saying that their tone would likely be comforting to a person using drugs) -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 10:05 pm

Metallica - Music Groups
I can't say that Metallica has BTF, St Anger was bad I admit but DM was a vast improvement. The arguments from metal purists and the wealth envy crowd (Lars has all that money why is he complaining about Napster, his already rich, he doesn't need that money etc.) are not really fair IMO we should focus on the quality of their music and lyrics, which are still top notch (disregarding St Anger). Metallica is still a great band, those who dislike their new directions can simply listen to their old music. -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 10:03 pm

Scrubs - TV Shows
Scurbs BTF in season 5. The decline started after Turk and Carla got married, the ludicrous scene with Turk and JD running through the hospital and ending up on two different roofs was the start of a long but slow decline. Season 5 was when the show became unwatchable, since season 5 (no particular order or season) SPOILER WARNING Dr Coxs rants became horrendously unfunny ("Keith"olism? Come on I could write a better joke than that! Lavern Dies Politically charged episodes/jokes (War in Iraq episode, pro-choice priest) Things that should have been JD's fantasies were "real" (one armed security guard loosing his hand in the ice machine, JD getting taped to the cafeteria ceiling.) The musical episode (could have been very funny but the songs were subpar, where's Joss Whendon when you need him.) I'm sure there are more examples but I can't think of them off the top of my head. I don't think this show ever BTF!! I wasn't sure about it when it first began not too long ago. but now I think it's really cute, and funny too! plus the kids (2 of them) are really good in this show too! -- Submitted By: (Riley2009) on April 7, 2009, 4:23 pm

Paul McCartney - Celebrities
I don't think this dude ever BTF!! he is really great! I grew up listening to his music (Beatles, Wings and solo songs too). and the music he helped write will always rock, because it is timeless!! 'nuff said. -- Submitted By: (Riley2009) on April 7, 2009, 4:16 pm

Brothers and Sisters - TV Shows
I like the Walker dinners you just know something is going to happen. -- Submitted By: (kitchenbreak) on April 7, 2009, 4:33 am

Underworld - Movie Series
The first "Underworld film" was so bad that I remember people walking out of the theatre, I forced myself to watch it as I paid to see it. I wish I would have walked out- this film was complete trash, I cannot even imagine how bad the sequels are!!! Avoid this at all costs, it bones the fish at 00:00:01 in the first film! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 6, 2009, 3:01 pm

Star Wars - Movie Series
This series was excellent. The Ewoks were good. Jar Jar was bad, but at least after Episode One he was used more sparingly. Plus, you can blame him for the fall of the Republic as he pushed for Palpatine. The only other drawback was the dialogue between Anakin and Padme as it was off a bad Hallmark card. Still forgivable and a good series. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 6, 2009, 11:09 am

Friday the 13th - Movie Series
These are not cinematic masterpieces but instead are around for the camp value. They have not boned for this reason. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 6, 2009, 11:03 am

Matrix - Movie Series
The first movie was ground breaking. The special effects with the jumping and the bullets were great. They were great the first time. Then every movie had to mimic the effect and it got really old really fast. They waited too long to come out with the second movie and the icing on the cake was the 30 minute rave scene. Couldn't bring myself to see the second one after that. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 6, 2009, 11:01 am

Highlander - Movie Series
Highlander was a great STAND ALONE FILM- all of the sequels and remakes are not only bad, but beyond awful. Shame on Hollywood for dragging this out to try to steal a dime from the fans of the first film- unforgiveable BTF moments all around! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 6, 2009, 9:35 am

Diff'rent Strokes - TV Shows
With Dana Plato's Death and her sordid life after the show (Drugs, prostituion), Todd Bridges Crack/Cocaine addiction & drug dealing, and Gary Coleman being one of the most bizarre and unlikable "Z" List celebrities- it is hard to watch this show and not be creeped out by it. And this was one of those "feel good" 80's shows that evreyone liked back in the day. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 6, 2009, 8:10 am

Metallica - Music Groups
Im not sure that a band has ever sold out so hard and so fast. Really- go listen to any of their Pre Black Album music, and then listen to the "nameless" Black Album, the horror show that is "Load" and "Re-Loaded", then for more punishment try to stomach "St. Anger", and then the charade of "Metal Cred" that Death "Magnetic" was. Metallica in the definition of the Metal Community at large are sellouts, and only worthy of their real name: Alternica. They are little more than a heavier version of some of the bad "Nu Metal" genre of sort of metal acts from the 2000's. Rot in Hell Alternica! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 5, 2009, 8:33 pm

California Dreams - TV Shows
This was good when it was called "Saved by the Bell." -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 7:08 pm

Malcolm in the Middle - TV Shows
The baby was a terrible addition to the show which had worn out by that point. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 6:59 pm

Married with Children - TV Shows
This show almost boned with Seven but was saved. Ted McGinley was a wonderful addition to the show. This is possibly the only show that got better with age. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 6:58 pm

Batman - Movie Series
The franchise was dead when George Cloony played Batman. he is talented but was not the right one for the role. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 6:56 pm

Jurassic Park - Movie Series
The first two movies were good. Lost World did a worse job following the book, but it was forgivable. Part three was terrible and far-fetched. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 6:50 pm

American Idol - TV Shows
Terrible show. This is part of why American TV has sunken to so many lows. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 6:48 pm

Lord of the Rings, The - Movie Series
The movies moved too slow. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 6:45 pm

Indiana Jones - Movie Series
The series is good, however, it took too long to make a 4th one. Crystal Skulls was good but the CGI in this (and many other movies) looks very fake. They should have used real monkeys and snakes and the gophers were unnecessary. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 6:41 pm

Terminator - Movie Series
This franchise has limped along for too long with a sequel coming out so sporadically. No interest in it anymore. Should have quit after Terminator 2. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 6:38 pm
