Miss America Pageant - Random Topics
Miss America has been through hell and back. Beauty pageants have made a comeback in general lately. (See: "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo" and "Toddlers and Tiaras") And it's a more diverse pageant than ever before: Miss America as of recently has had contestants with disabilities and of various ethnic backgrounds. It's not your mother's (or grandmother's) pageant. -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on September 22, 2013, 12:21 am

Billy Joel - Music Groups
Always partially boned in my book. He's a great musician who still plays to sold-out crowds (especially when Elton John is involved, good luck getting tickets!) but he's had a few things: everything post 1993 has been a flop, the fallout from "Only the Good Die Young" (a song banned at a couple of Catholic colleges) and his failed marriage to Christie Brinkley (the two are somehow now on decent terms). -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on September 21, 2013, 11:56 pm

Austin, Texas - Random Topics
Austin is like Family Ties, except with role reversal: it's a liberal town in a conservative state. I'd love to visit the city, but NOT during SXSW. -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on September 21, 2013, 11:46 pm

Sara Gilbert - Celebrities
Fugly maybe, but she was much of the glue of Roseanne during its run. -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on September 21, 2013, 11:43 pm

As Told By Ginger - TV Shows
I have to disagree. It wasn't crappy, heck, it received THREE Emmy nominations, was wildly popular at first and was the first animated show on Nickelodeon to appeal to pre-teens and teens. That might have also been it's undoing too. And Nickelodeon I'm sure didn't help either, constantly changing the scheduling of the show (I missed seeing newly aired episodes as it was that bad) and tried too hard. And when Nickelodeon finally killed it off, it was rushed, and even with a glimpse into the future in the closing of "The Wedding Frame", leaving the viewer with what I call "unfinished business". That being said, the show somehow had a second life between 2008-2009 when a few unaired episodes saw life on Nicktoons. If the show was revived, would it make a great YouTube series? You bet! ATBG is a perfect example of a decent show ruined by network execs screwing around with the show and writers/producers trying too hard to stay clean. ATBG could have learned from somewhat family friendly King of the Hill. Futurama is another example, but luckily for it, Matt Groening does it all. ATBG had the misfortune of split handling, with Emily Kapnek producing and writing alongside Klasky-Csupo, which burned out right after the show ended. I hope that the show is not too far gone for some sort of quirky revival, as it was one of the few things from my adolescence which was actually nice. I could relate to Ginger. -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on September 21, 2013, 11:42 pm

Adele - Music Groups
She's just overrated. And she still hasn't forgiven her dad for screwing up in her early years? -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on February 11, 2013, 11:38 am

Miss America Pageant, The - TV Shows
At least Miss America contestants are intelligent. Remember Carrie Prejean? And Catilin Upton, who can't find South Carolina on a map? -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on January 29, 2013, 9:54 pm

OJ Simpson - Celebrities
First and foremost, the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were huge tragedies but to make a bad situation even worse, everyone forgers that it was "lawyer" Robert Kardashian who became a big name because of the murder. At that time Kardashian was a businessman and hadn't practiced law in years. Furthermore, the two were friends. Thanks a lot OJ, you really screwed everyone. -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on November 29, 2011, 10:07 am

It took a while for Nickelodeon to bone the fish, but the Schneider overload did it for me. Nickelodeon quality has declined since 1999. -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on August 14, 2011, 7:28 pm

I wonder if Dan Aykroyd has a framed poster from the Blues Brothers 2000 movie hung up in his home with the caption "Lest we forget." -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on December 16, 2010, 9:28 pm

Cyndi Lauper - Celebrities
Cyndi Lauper in some ways is a living legend. Her music is constantly being rediscovered by generation after generation, and her music (and fashion) has inspired many of today's artists. Boned? Far from it! -- Submitted By: (Northeastern292) on December 16, 2010, 9:21 pm
