Miley Cyrus - Celebrities
After seeing these pics, I pity any parent that let their daughter idolize Hannah Montana. The talentless Cyrus family has corrupted a generation of girls. http://www.twirlit.com/2012/01/25/miley-cyrus-penis-cake-photos-leak/ -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 30, 2012, 7:59 pm
Occupy Wall Street - Random Topics
JamesO, you seem like a good guy and I wish someone like you was in charge of the movement. Instead, the fact there are no true leaders and no strong message really neuters any impact the movement has. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 26, 2012, 12:07 am
Earth Day - Random Topics
I'm actually pro-environment, but anti-Hippie. I went to college with a whole bunch of Ira Einhorn wannabes-- all entitled and arrogant with no common sense. So you can see why I have mixed feelings about Earth Day. I do like the concept, but not the people behind it. I'll stick with Arbor Day. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 25, 2012, 11:58 pm
Kathie Lee Gifford - Celebrities
Her husband got caught having that affair and it seems to have actually humbled her. She disappeared shortly after that. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 17, 2012, 3:01 pm
JumptheShark.com - Websites
No, they've had it completely blocked via robots.txt for a while now. It's a shame, because occasionally I'll remember something funny I read on there and I can't go back and "rescue" those anecdotes anymore. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 17, 2012, 2:56 pm
Earth Day - Random Topics
One of the Wiki-sources listed even has a photo of him on stage emceeing the Philly event in 1970. His ex-girlfriend's rotting corpse was found by police is his closet in 1979 and since that time the Earth Day crowd has tried to rewrite him out of their history. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 17, 2012, 2:53 pm
Best Buy - Random Topics
One of the things they got caught doing was listing one price on their website and having another, higher price in the store. When people would complain, the employees would lead them to a computer terminal and show them a private intranet made to look exactly like the public website but with the higher price listed to "prove" the customer "wrong". -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 13, 2012, 6:24 pm
Chevy Chase Show, The - TV Shows
The only thing I remember about this show is that it was like Chevy couldn't even be bothered to try and be funny. Like he didn't want to be there any more than you wanting to watch it. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 11, 2012, 8:58 pm
13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, The - TV Shows
This show came on at the same time as Transformers here. My cousin was trying to convince me to watch it. One thing he stressed to me was this time Shaggy was wearing a RED shirt and not "that old green one". Yeah, I decided to stick with Transformers and never watched 13 Ghosts. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 11, 2012, 8:55 pm
Elmo - Random Topics
There's a recent documentary about the guy who plays Elmo going around. Everything I've heard about the man is that he's a really nice guy. So I almost feel bad for saying... I HATE Elmo. Such a cloying, pandering character. According to Muppet Wiki, Elmo has been around "since the early 1970s" and I do remember him being there when I was a kid, but as a very, very minor character. And he was fine in those miniscule doses. Over the years, he gradually got more and more screentime until he became a main character. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it was shortly after the Tickle-Me-Elmo craze in the mid-'90s that he dethroned Big Bird as THE main character. Eventually it was no longer an ensemble anymore and effectively The Elmo Show. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 11, 2012, 8:47 pm
JumptheShark.com - Websites
Thanks for the updates. I sometimes feel tempted to check up on JTS, but I don't want to give them any "hits". I want them to get no site traffic and I want the idiot that decided to wreck the site to get fired. Of course, the world being the way it is, that person is probably still gainfully employed at TV Guide and laughing it up with the guy who invented New Coke at some bar right now. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 11, 2012, 1:45 am
Earth Day - Random Topics
Everybody likes to forget that convicted murder Ira Einhorn was instrumental in creating Earth Day. In fact, the Earth Day people are actively trying to cover this up. There's only one mention of him on the Wikipedia entry at the moment (sometimes there is NO mention of him). -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 8, 2012, 9:06 pm
Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light - TV Shows
Yeah, I don't remember Visionaries being too successful, and I never saw the cartoon. Despite its apparent lack of success, it had a knockoff called Super Naturals by Tonka. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 4, 2012, 10:15 pm
North Korea - Random Topics
We've got a 28-year old with something to prove running NK now. He might be worse than Jong-Il, or perhaps not. I doubt anything will improve with regards to that country, though. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 2, 2012, 11:46 pm
Clint Eastwood - Celebrities
I'm sure Clint doesn't want to do this, but he's an old man with a much younger wife. She probably "wears the pants" in that family dynamic, contrary to his movie persona. She knows a man of his age can't afford to divorce again. The spoiled wife and daughters must be worrying about what will happen to them after Clint dies-- They'll be demoted from "celebrities" to "regular rich people". This way they can use Clint's fame to make themselves in to celebs, in theory. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 1, 2012, 3:52 pm
That Guy with the Glasses - Websites
I still watch Nostalgia Critic and also Cinema Snob. Also Linkara, although sometimes his "storylines" kind of bore me-- I just want to watch bad comics getting made fun of, not zero-budget Scifi. Some of the others do some decent stuff too. I can help but wonder if these internet shows are the beginning of a new industry, or just a passing fad that will be killed off by the MPAA's bribing of the US Senate. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on December 27, 2011, 1:49 am
Star Trek - Movie Series
Boned with Generations for me. 1 and 5 were weak, but 1 had great FX and 5 had a few good ideas. Both had great Jerry Goldsmith soundtracks. Also, I don't know if many people know this, but the DVD version of 1 is actually a Special Edition that actually made the film better! They fixed some mistakes, added a couple new FX shots, and cut out a lot of the boring and stupid stuff. They also added good some stuff to parts 2 & 6 on the DVD. Then Paramount for some inexplicable reason went back to the inferior theatrical cuts for 1,2,& 6 on Blu-ray. I really couldn't stand all the Next Generation movies, and there were plotholes in the reboot that I just couldn't get over. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on December 24, 2011, 6:30 pm
Loose Change - Movie Series
There are some people that believe everything they read. There are other people that believe any video they see, as long as it looks "professional". -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on December 24, 2011, 6:15 pm
Food Allergies - Random Topics
There's plenty of research that shows avoiding allergens at an early age just makes things WORSE and that acclamation to potential allergens makes kids stronger when they grow up. So these hysterical parents have probably harmed not only their own kids, but all the other kids at school forced to go peanut-free. That would explain the sudden onset of allergy-fragile children, and the curious absence of such allergies in other countries. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on December 23, 2011, 8:16 pm
