Sesame Street - TV Shows
It was only after Jim Henson and several other "original creators" of _Sesame Street_ died, that the show began a rapid decline. Too many talented performers, writers and producers vanishing at once...that was what _allowed_ Elmo to morph from a cute supporting character into an annoying diva. They _allowed_ the classic cartoons and songs to seem out of date, when the preschoolers hadn't complained about that for 25+ years. And those deaths _allowed_ new curriculum staff to swarm in, claiming that children weren't learning well enough from the format that had taught their parents about letters, numbers, and social life. Whether the Workshop didn't know or didn't care what all those deaths meant for their flagship show, is anyone's guess: if Jim Henson had gotten that pneumonia checked in time, chances are good that kids and adults could have still watched _Sesame Street_ together without the adults feeling embarrassed in the first 15 minutes. -- Submitted By: (ISNorden) on March 7, 2010, 9:25 pm
