Are You Being Served? - TV Shows
Pelirojo- I agree completely. My father spent many years as a manager in a mid-scale department store not too unlike the one depicted in AYBS, and having grown up in that kind of environment, the earlier seasons/series were spot on and very amusing. Sadly, the show became just over-the-top stupid and was rather unwatchable after a point. Then came that failed bit with the AYBS gang inheriting an English Bed & Breakfast (in lieu of ther pensions) and trying to make a go with that. No thanks. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on July 6, 2010, 3:05 pm

Bewitched - TV Shows
I understand that IRL, things happen- and where TV productions are concerned, that can create a little havoc for the story line. But when a TV show decides to go the route of doing a 'same character different actor' switcheroo on a popular TV show, a production company should, as a service to the fans, at least make some effort to find the best replacement possible. I know from experience that there are TONS of really good actors in Hollywood looking for a break. You can't tell me that (even in the 1960's) out of those likely vast numbers they could not find one or two actors who bore at least a passing resemblance to the first 'Darrin Stevens' and could even mimic him in a convincing way? And if they couldn't find him in a 'cattle call' in LA, they even try New York. Lot's of actors there too. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on June 30, 2010, 4:35 pm

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - Movie Series
Oddly enough, Gene Wilder was not even NEAR the first choice for the role of Wonka. Dahl considered Spike Milligan to be the perfect choice for the role. Also it's interesting that Roald Dahl himself was ultimately very unhappy with this particular adaptation of his story. Unfortunately, we'll never know if he would've considered Burton's adaptation any better. http://www.answers.com/topic/willy-wonka-and-the-chocolate-factory -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on June 15, 2010, 12:24 pm

Thanksgiving - Random Topics
Eploding Console. YES! THANK YOU! I so totally agree with you. When I hear people call Thanksgiving "Turkey Day"- I think I'd rather just have someone walk into the room with a blackboard and proceed to run their finger nails down the surface for three minutes. They might as well just walk in the room and say "Happy Turkey Day! Haa haa haa ha ha. I'm so freekin' funny Ha ha ha ha ha I said Turkey Day instead of Thanksgiving! hA HA HA HA HA HA! Get it, because people eat Turkey on Thanksgiving? Ha ha ha ha ha That's why its hip and funny to say that. Ha ha ha ha." WRONG!!!! -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on April 12, 2010, 7:49 am

Blackadder - TV Shows
Bevanite- Now to that point I would completely agree. In terms of the 'one-off' Blackadder specials, The Blackadder Christmas special ran circles around 'Back & Forth'. For my money, Back & Forth added nothing to the Blackadder franchise. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 9, 2010, 9:51 am

Planet of the Apes (TV series) - TV Shows
I tried to get into this show. I was a big fan of the movies (even the made for TV ones) and was very disappointed that this series didn't follow movie canon very well. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 4, 2010, 5:07 pm

Flo - TV Shows
I will add though, this should not be construed as a knock against the talent of Polly Holliday. I've seen other work that she has done and she has very broad range as an actress. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 3, 2010, 8:32 pm

Flo - TV Shows
Yes, so the show started out strong in the ratings, and one could argue that it was the time slot change that killed it, but I NEVER thought of the character of Flo, as funny as she was on Alice, as anything more than a supporting character. And I certainly never thought the character was strong enough to carry an entire show. Frankly, I'd think that if the show had really been that good, it certainly would've survived a time change. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 3, 2010, 8:29 pm

Flo (Progressive Insurance) - TV Shows
For the record: I am a guy, and I DO NOT think Flo is hot. Not trying to be mean. Just being honest. Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 3, 2010, 3:19 pm

Carol Burnett and Friends - TV Shows
My favorite moments from Carol Burnett & Friends were the unscripted moments where Harvey Korman would get so cracked up at Tim Conway that he couldn't continue his lines and so Tim Conway would just obviously fill the void with improv- meanwhile everybody is now on the verge of completely losing it- the audience knows it and they're laughing right along as TC just keeps plugging away.... Classic stuff. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 3, 2010, 2:52 pm
