Compulsory Voting - Random Topics
What a ridiculous concept. Where I live, every citizen over 18 must vote or they get a fine - and they do not have many decent politicians to actually choose from. Many people might say that it will encourage people to actively know about politics and get involved (there always will be apathy), all it seems to do is allow politicians to be lazy during campaigns since they have a free ride to votes. When it all becomes a farce, voting loses its meaning. Dumb concept, day 1. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on March 15, 2012, 1:26 am

True Grit - Movie Series
I have yet to see the 1969 version with John Wayne. However, I just recently wathced the 2010 version with Jeff Bridges and it was amazing. How did this miss out at the Oscars, like no awards at all? Mr. Bridges was much better in his role than Colin Firth and while the King's Speech was still a good film - it was not as good as this. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on December 9, 2011, 6:23 pm

@John63btf. It used to be like that with Rugrats. Both (Rugrats and Spongebob) have gotten tired as a result. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on November 23, 2011, 1:29 am
Happy Feet - Movie Series
This is another instance where, despite that a lot of effort has obviously gone into the design and the animation as well as a somewhat innovatitve idea (it may or may not intice you, I did not really get thrilled - was dragged along). What brought it down, I reckon, was how conventional and stagnant the story was. What Robert said was the biggest hole in the film, that by simply "dancing" the penguin got the message through. I know about suspension of disbelief, but there are limits. Over-rated film, does not need a sequel. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on November 19, 2011, 8:28 pm

Mel for me, he had the most to lose and boy did he go ahead. Kim had nothing to begin with and Lindsay was a fluke. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on November 18, 2011, 1:06 am

Big budget, wonderful scenery, great set-up, lots of coverage, lots of effort going into style and aesthetics. Where was the work on the script or writing? Fell asleep in front of this doozie during the first episode. NEXT! -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on October 26, 2011, 6:59 am

Star Wars - Movie Series
Just. Leave. The. Films. ALONE! Classics should be left alone; if there is original content that was not shown initially (such as a directors cut e.g. Apocalypse Now Redux) that's okay - tweaking it to anachronistic ways is not. This is like making West Side Story have rap numbers in it. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on September 3, 2011, 4:11 am

@DolFan. You're actually lucky, there is the option to not vote over there. Here in Australia, it is compulsory (ugh!) and there is not a "none of the above" or similar option. The best you can do is a blank ballot. Politics nowadays is a pathetic crock. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on August 14, 2011, 3:39 am

No opinion on the Brazillian President, however the way it is written is shameless! Even during "praise" of something, this guy cannot withhold whinning about his country. X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-1997) - TV Shows
I just finished watching the series, and I got to say it was overall a very well written, mature and all-round accessible cartoon for both kids and adults. The first season had a very good pararell story to racism in the modern world which rewarded people who made the attempt to tune in every time.
Though the second one was not as continuous it still was captivating. Each character major began being developed further as well as the secondary characters when they appeared, both good and evil.
As for when the Phoenix saga came along, it was a pity that the episodes from then on were shown out of sequence and that it became mostly stand-alone with the exception of multi-parters (though there was one episode chronologically straight after the Phoenix saga which was not broadcast until much later on - it was cloyingly out of place).
The last few episodes did not fare too well on the animation department, however around then it was seeming like high time to wrap it all up. It sort of went down as a result leaving the series not as good as the first episodes allowed it to be. However, the series finale was a touching, very mature way to depart showing how each member of the X-Men had developed some nuances and were changed people by working together for a similar cause.
Great show in all for audiences of all ages. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on June 14, 2011, 1:14 am
