Super Friends - TV Shows
I agree with the last commenter. The earlier seasons were very slow-paced because of all the preaching it did...especially with most of it coming from the narrator. It felt like a half hour public service message. But when they changed to just the adventures (the Wonder Twins years) it got better...then the last seasons with Firestorm made it even better! -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on November 12, 2011, 3:28 pm

JumptheShark.com - Websites
i think this topic is as no-brainer for any former JTS fans like me -- TV Guide destroyed it. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on November 6, 2011, 7:13 am

Osama bin Laden - Celebrities
I was thinking of adding "Reverse Boned: Death", but day 1 also sums it up nicely since he was never a good human being to begin with. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on November 6, 2011, 7:11 am

Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve - TV Shows
Agreed with previous commenter. Let Dick Clark continue to appear. I think it's right for him to be there. Why should his appearance be any different than your family getting together for your grandfather's 100th birthday party? Obviously he's not as young and healthy as he used to be, but you are thankful he is aware and happy there. (Not equating with Dick's age, but you get my analogy) And this may be the only show in which I would always want the title to have "Dick Clark" in it, even long after he cannot do the show. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on January 2, 2010, 6:42 am

Classical music - Random Topics
Always a genre you can revisit and revisit all generations of your life and feel at peace. And I do appreciate a classical concert the occasional time I attend one. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 21, 2009, 8:53 pm

Dell - Random Topics
1st laptop -- motherboard problems after 1st year, difficult tech support to understand, sound card defective after less than 1st year. 2nd laptop -- a motherboard replacement 1st year and 2nd year, power adapter replacement, hard drive replacement 2nd year, finally power adaptor slot no longer worked so could not recharge. -- I also got repair money back because my model was a winner of a class action lawsuit on defective parts. Too much experienced proof that Dell laptops suck! -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 21, 2009, 8:50 pm

Public Libraries - Random Topics
Still a wonderful institution. Borrowing DVDs is a good thing and honestly kept me a loyal library goer. How else can you see loads of movies esp when you can't afford to? (I don't think I would recommend Netflix or another monthly service if you're unemployed.) Library catalog kiosks and web sites over the years also made searching for periodicals easier than ever. (Yes, I remember the card catalog days and believe me, I definitely don't miss them!) -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 21, 2009, 8:43 pm

Pirates - Random Topics
Ever since the Somalia accounts of real-life pirates, the pop culture fantasies had faded off for me. I don't even think I can see the next Pirates of the Carribean movie the same anymore. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 21, 2009, 8:38 pm

Milli Vanilli - Music Groups
It wasn't just the fact that they were lip synching -- the fact that OTHER artists were actually singing their songs. To my knowledge, Britney, Ashley etc. are lip synching to their own voices (I CAN'T believe I'm defending them -- shoot me now!) They released another album with "The Real Milli Vanilli" featuring what the singers actually looked like. They didn't look glammy like Rob and Fab and it didn't sell well. So still showed that unfortunately image still sells. (But it did have the scandal to fuel the fire). I used to like their songs to that point myself and was a definite bone fishing for me. hands down. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 10, 2009, 8:27 am

High School Musical - Movie Series
I'd be careful of that joke Scotty -- you may have just sealed our doom (thanks a lot! lol). "High School Musical 4: East Meets West" is being looked into for next year. (Strange title -- are they turning it into "Rush Hour"?) -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 10, 2009, 8:17 am

Paris Hilton - Celebrities
I actually sat through several shows of the "Simple Life" because my friend was fascinated with her -- her acting stupid. I never got that. It wasn't that entertaining to me and I would have preferred not to see it -- but hey, you know what's its like when friends get together to watch random TV. You just wind up seeing it. She claims not to actually act that way in real life(highly debatable). But even TV interviews promote her ditziness. I'll give her benefit of the doubt she might have been tolerable before hitting the reality tv circuit. But since it's what started her celebrityhood - I gotta vote for Day 1. All the stuff after with jail and sex scandal, just had the merchant complete the scale job faster for today's fish market sale. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 10, 2009, 8:13 am

Black Entertainment Television - Random Topics
it wasn't trying to be mainstream. it's founder looked for a niche that would be interested in programming specific to that demographic -- just like several other cable channels dedicated to religious and ethnic entertainment (e.g., Telemundo). A white channel wouldn't be necessary because it's already mainstream in many channels. i'll cautiously vote never boned although i cringe at it's growing focus on reality tv. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 9, 2009, 10:02 pm

Battletoads - Random Topics
Battletoads vs. Double Dragon. The double dragon guys were adjusted to move, behave, and fight in the Battletoads world. I still remember how bizarre they were animated...especially when a new boss appeared in a level. Their friggin eyes popped out! These are the double dragon guys we knew? -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 8, 2009, 6:34 am

Y2K Bug, The - Random Topics
there was even a Y2K movie on ABC. talk about really capitalizing on the fear. i still remember seeing a scene in which a woman was pregnant in the hospital and the monitor that was attached to her stopped working. so it's based on the current date -- really? -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 8, 2009, 6:15 am

Knight Rider (1982) - TV Shows
some of the plots may be a bit over the top now as an adult, but i thoroughly enjoyed this show til the end. i got excited when KITT got new gadgets in the later seasons. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 8, 2009, 6:11 am

Taylor Swift - Celebrities
I'd say no. No one would want their first music award overshadowed by another one plugging yet another one's video. put succintly, he a didnt let her finish. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 6, 2009, 9:41 pm

Andy Kaufman - Celebrities
Well, I'll have to agree with you that he's overrated. But I definitely feel that he's very talented. Played one of the funniest characters in "Taxi" and pretty amusing stand-up routines (from what I saw on Saturday Night Live). However the rest of him is just...weird. The fascination with exploiting women wrestlers coupled with new age practices. Very odd combination. He had a talent for shocking you or at least scratching your head. Made for an entertaining biography in "Man on the Moon". So for me, it's the wrestling fetish. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 6, 2009, 9:33 pm

Small Wonder - TV Shows
I liked this show for some reason at the time. Not something I could really watch now. Robot was just too cute and the cheesy special effects were comedy in themselves. The goofy geeky dad fit into the show too. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 4, 2009, 11:26 am

Sonic The Hedgehog (SatAM) - TV Shows
I'm honestly not sure how to rate this. The weekday show was really silly and campy, but this version was too dark and angsty for such a character. I just never picture Sonic having a serious storyline. Zelda, maybe. Undecided. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 4, 2009, 11:23 am

Facts of Life, The - TV Shows
The dynamics just changed when the Garrett girls worked at Edina's Edibles and later that other store (forgot the name). This double-boned when Charlotte Rae left. I never considered Cloris Leechman's character to be a matriarch for the gals. She seemed more like she'd dispense a little advice where needed but largely lived her own life. This was also when the girls were glamming up and seemed more like they didn't really need each other anymore. Everyone was just doing their own thing. Quite honestly, it was seeing the gals glam up beautifully (I was a teen) that kept me watching the show. Not the storylines nor George Clooney (no offense to the actor). -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 4, 2009, 11:10 am
