It's not about them being "right." It's about the precedent they, as a "neutral" encylopedia who are not supposed to take political positions, set. It's a slippery slope. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 25, 2012, 10:49 am

Occupy Wall Street - Random Topics
Here's their only official release of what they're protesting. Other "demands" were overblown or just an opinion of one person which would be too extreme for anyone to take seriously. http://occupywallst.org/forum/first-official-release-from-occupy-wall-street/ Of course, saying they're getting kicked out "building to building" is just hyperbole. Their problems was in taking in homeless, mentally ill people who caused most of the problems. I agree they didn't need to keep camping out. Once they got media attention which took a while they could have left and now had a platform to express their views. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 24, 2012, 11:02 am

They're protesting corporate money in politics in a nutshell. The fact that a corporation is a person but gets more rights and can't be prosecuted like a real human being and legislation continues to favor those with money on the backs of the less fortunate. The wikipedia article explains it pretty well. What they're protesting seems pretty clear to me. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 24, 2012, 10:54 am

Occupy Wall Street - Random Topics
There's been a lot of misinformation about this group in the media(since it's corporate owned and not liking this message). I agree their tactics aren't always the best but it's better here to focus on the message and not the messengers. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 24, 2012, 10:10 am

Two and a Half Men - TV Shows
If you think about it, this show is like the male version of the Golden Girls. Charlie is Blanche, the promiscuous one and both were the homeowners, Alan is Dorothy, probably the smart one, both divorced and usually the ones most receiving ridicule. Jake is Rose, the dumb one and Berta is Sophia, blunt and never sugarcoating what they think. The humor reminded me lot of the Golden Girls. I guess 2.5 men w/ Kutcher is now like Golden Palace. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 24, 2012, 9:46 am

Wikipedia just boned in a big way with their SOPA protest. It's not about agreeing or disagreeing with that stance. Wikipedia is supposed to be a non-profit, apolitical, "neutral" encylopedia project. They really should not get involved in politics based on what they claim they stand for. Also, if anyone wants to read about Wikipedia's dysfunction should check out wikipediareview. They've documented a lot of the nonsense that has gone on over the years, abusive admins, incompetence, double standards, etc. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 24, 2012, 9:20 am

Big Bang Theory - TV Shows
I agree about the laugh track's overuse but still find the show amusing, probably because I'm a little of a science/sci-fi nerd myself. I was thinking though about what if actor Jonathan Harris(Dr. Smith from Lost in Space) were still alive and could guest star as a senior physicist. The banter with him and Jim Parsons(Sheldon) could have been epic. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 17, 2012, 3:14 pm

Liberalism - Random Topics
Actually, it was me who submitted both liberalism and conservatism at the same time. :) So which one am I? -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on June 1, 2011, 3:25 pm

Mission: Impossible - TV Shows
It's too bad that the U.S. doesn't have a team like this that could have taken down Saddam Hussein and capture Osama bin Laden. It would have saved tons of money and lives. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 26, 2011, 9:36 am

O'Reilly Factor, The - TV Shows
O'Reilly has been pretty boring and predictable lately. His guests are almost all limited to Fox personalities and contributors and it's pretty yawn inducing. I don't know why he still has Dick Morris on since he's now come out as a Republican cheerleader so having him along with Karl Rove is redundant. O'Reilly used to have diverse guests(both from the left and right) who were usually knowledgeable about the topic and brought there own perspective and there would be robust debate. Now, he might land a good guest occaisionally and then have the usual cast of characters analyze his interview. He's pretty much been on cruise control the last couple of years. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 4, 2011, 7:10 pm

FactCheck.org - Websites
I don't think factcheck.org is biased. They're pretty fair and call out both sides of the American political spectrum. However, there is a another fact check site that I believe leans to the left called politifact. They are run by the St. Petersburg Times which is known to lean left. I think they try to be objective but let their liberal biases kick in subconsciously at best. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on September 10, 2010, 6:46 pm

Sarah Palin - Celebrities
Palin is the Paris Hilton of politics. She keeps finding ways to stay relevant. This has nothing to do with ideology, just an observation. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on September 10, 2010, 6:36 pm

Socialism - Random Topics
Yeah, Nazi was short for "National Socialists" but that doesn't mean they brought socialism to Germany or that was their main platform point(there are obvious others). Germany has traditionally been socialist regardless of where their political pendulum swings. Anyhow, I'm not a socialist but like it as a balance for capitalism. Pure capitalism may be more interesting but unbridled capitalism allows those who cheat or exploit the system get away with it. With capitalism there are winners and losers. The problem is what to do with the losers. Pure capitalists will say that the winners will hire the losers to work for them especially if they get lower tax rates. Ok, those workers will be hired but paid as low as possible no matter the tax rate is and if another nation can provide cheaper labor they will go there no matter how low the tax rate is. Capitalism has sense of patriotism just make money as efficiently as possible. So the question is what to do with the losers if they can't afford basic living needs? If those winners are not hiring them or paying them a decent wage, then the govt has to tax the winners to give the losers money to afford what they need. Either that or give them credit cards and put them in eternal debt. It is more complex than this but this why socialism exists. So the wealthy will still have to pay for the poorer in society whether they pay them for work or through the govt. Again, I might be oversimplifying this but this is just what I see. I'm not trying to be anti-capitalist or pro-socialist if that's how I come across but this is just the way I see things. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on August 19, 2010, 11:11 pm

World of Warcraft - Random Topics
I loved Warcraft 2, warcraft 3 was ok. The last phase of WC3 Frozen throne with the orcs that is supposed to segue into WoW wasn't very impressive. I thought of getting WoW but don't want to pay the monthly fee. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on August 19, 2010, 10:47 pm

Keeping Up With The Kardashians - TV Shows
So being the kids of a late attorney known for being one of O.J. Simpson's lawyers who's mom marries athlete Bruce Jenner makes them worthy of their own reality show? Hm. I have facebook friends of friends who are at least as famous. Perhaps I should get my own reality show. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on August 19, 2010, 10:44 pm

Star Trek: Enterprise - TV Shows
I posted on JTS for this show the day before it went kaput. I can't even remember what I said though. Anyhow, this show really wasn't what I was expecting. It would have been better if they dealt with aliens that were talked about but never shown who were future UFP members and how humans encountered them(You should figure most of the first aliens encountered would become fed members). Instead they bring in TNG aliens(ie Ferengi, Borg) who really shouldn't have been heard of at this time or introduce new ones(which is fine in some cases). It was ok with the Andorians and the Klingons but there should have been something on how the Federation came in conflict with the Romulans(I didn't see every episode so correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, the show was ok but not up to previous standards. I know some blame the "killer B's" Brandon Bragga and Rick Berman for the decline of the Star Trek franchise. I guess that could have been the problem too. Someone who's a bigger ST fan could elaborate possibly. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on August 19, 2010, 9:39 pm

New Mission: Impossible, The - TV Shows
Actually it was never called "New" just Mission:Impossible. This updated version came out because of a writer's strike during the time and networks recycled old plots. Star Trek:TNG came out of this too actually. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on August 19, 2010, 5:17 pm

Wikipedia - Websites
There is this guy who runs a website called "MyWikiBiz.com" that got banned from editing wikipedia because he had the "nerve" to have people pay him to edit wikipedia all within their established rules and guidelines. He was open about it but some holier-than-thou admins didn't like it even though he didn't "POV push." Anyhow he started the MyWikibiz site for businesses and really anybody to promote themselves. Perhaps whoever runs this site could start their own page there about BTF. Have you ever noticed that a wikipedia link always seems to be in the top 10 results? This guy appears to know how it's done. Perhaps you guys should contact him. His name is Greg Kohs. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on August 11, 2010, 8:57 pm

Rude Customers - Random Topics
There are customers who totally abuse the "customer is always right policy." They act like spoiled brat kids who jump up and down and scream and yell until the manager gives them their way just to shut them up. I just wish more often that another customer will call them out because the employee can not even if they're totally justified. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on August 5, 2010, 9:37 pm

Guns N Roses - Music Groups
It's all about Axl. It was inevitable this band would implode but it's all on him. Maybe some day he'll get his head out of his ass and there could be a reunion with the original line-up. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on August 5, 2010, 4:14 pm
