I've lived an hour or less away from Memphis for nearly my entire life and have never understood the big deal about Elvis. Okay, I get why he was famous back in his youth (although he was never that good looking IMO) but to have this level of slavish devotion over 30 years after his death from being a fat drugged up slob??? It's a complete mystery to me. Even if he DID have charisma all he really did was sing a few decent songs in the 50s and make some lame movies in the 60s. I just don't get the hype.
