Disney Channel - Random Topics
I recently watched Disney channel and saw something interesting: "Have a Laugh", a segment where a classic cartoon would be shown. I was elated...FINALLY, we get to see the good old cartoons that made Disney great! I chose to watch it, but there was a red flag: the words "Short Version" on the title card. "It's 7 minutes or less. How do you make a 7 minute cartoon a "short version"?", I thought. I got my answer in the 3 minute long horror show that followed. The old music was gone; replaced by new music. Classic sound effects were replaced with NEW sound effects, and the original voices were replaced with those of the voice actors they have now. The episode was Mickey's Trailer. The scene where Goofy distracts a cow so Mickey can milk it was deleted. I was so disgusted that I changed the channel after watching the drawers smash watermelon into Goofy's face. They pulled a George Lucas...before they owned Star Wars! Their motto should be: "Disney: Withholding or desecrating the classics". -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 2, 2013, 7:31 pm

AARP - Random Topics
ATTENTION TO ANYONE WITH ELDERLY RELATIVES: The AARP is/was sending out petition forms requesting signatures to "save medicare and social security" AND mail in a $20-45 donation to "help AARP advocate on [their] behalf". My friend's elderly grandfather was nearly tricked into signing a $20 check for them, thinking it would go to save the programs (when in fact it would go to AARP). -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 2, 2013, 7:13 pm

Justin Bieber - Celebrities
It was wise of the club not to let his underage friends in...doesn't Bieber have enough sense to realize you could go to jail for giving alcohol to minors? If the club bent the rules to accommodate Bieber and the kids somehow managed to obtain hard drinks, the club's management would probably be in jail as I post this. Legally, they did the right thing. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 2, 2013, 7:08 pm

Marvel Comics - Random Topics
Whenever I hear "So-and-so is gonna die!", they're usually back to life by the next episode/issue. Kinda like Kenny. Remember when they said Superman was dead/dying/terminally ill/etc.? He was fine in the end. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on January 12, 2013, 3:28 pm

Al Gore - Celebrities
Ironic, isn't it? The guy with the massive carbon footprint (PS: what a stupid term) tells us to shrink ours, then sells out to...big oil. If someone who preaches the End of the World buys stock, he's FOS. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on January 12, 2013, 3:25 pm

2012 doomsday prediction - Random Topics
To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of our deaths have been greatly exaggerated. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on December 23, 2012, 1:11 pm

Mel Blanc - Celebrities
I'm glad he loved voicing Bugs more than he hated carrots. Now THAT is suffering for your work! The man of a thousand voices can never be replaced. It was a sad day in the cartoon world when he passed away. The greatest VA ever to live never boned. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on December 23, 2012, 1:06 pm

Youtube - Websites
If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT! If YouTube was a building instead of a website, 99% of their budget would go to deconstruction and reconstruction. There wouldn't be nearly enough bricks or mortar in the world! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on December 23, 2012, 1:03 pm

Angry Birds - Random Topics
Man, you can't go ANYWHERE without seeing Angry Birds merchandise. They even have Angry Birds Star Wars toys. I never played the game, so I can't say anything on it. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 24, 2012, 12:53 pm

And, there's another underage rape victim. And people actually DEFENDING Kevin Clash if he did do it. Yeah, I guess you also want to pardon those disgusting pedo priests? Amazing how being a celebrity nets you scores of apologists, no matter how horrible your crime. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 24, 2012, 12:52 pm

Angry Video Game Nerd, The - Websites
Mixed feelings about AVGN cancelling. "After the Movie" is as a common boning moment as "Cousin Oliver", but there are literally hundreds of bad games out there for James to review. With the Wii, XBox360, and PS3 reaching the point of obsolescence (as well as the Gamecube, PS2, and XBox being over 10 years old), the number of bad games on old consoles will only grow. Then again, you don't want the Nerd to become a self-parody because it just won't cancel (cough *Simpsons* cough). There are other bad game reviewers on YouTube who are just as fun as the Nerd, so if he does retire, you can watch them instead. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 24, 2012, 12:45 pm

I guess it's the anti-animal rights stuff I agree with. What he said was beyond horrible. He thinks he's strong because he attacks a dead person? Anyone can tell you that's cowardice. There's nothing tough-guy about dancing on someone's grave, let alone that of the mother of his children. Is he trying to be as tasteless as Bill Maher or Michael Moore? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 24, 2012, 12:43 pm

Thanksgiving - Random Topics
Black Thursday. Words are not vile enough to describe this trend, born this year. It's wrong for businesses to force their employees to miss their family's holiday so they can work the pre-Black Friday rush. It should be illegal. To those who protest by refusing to go to work on Thanksgiving, I salute you! To those who stay outside the store and get the CEOs thinking "Look at all these people who want to shop, we should open early", you should be ashamed of yourself. Just because you have no family or friends to visit on Thanksgiving, you want to ruin the holiday for others? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 24, 2012, 12:39 pm

Christmas - Random Topics
The Christmas season should officially begin on the day after Thanksgiving. Not in October, not in September...the day right after Thanksgiving. To be fair, it's not the Christians' fault this holiday's been hijacked by commercialists. They're getting fed up of all the commercialism as well, including myself. For the record, I get sick of the constant bombardment/overexposure as well. And it's really annoying to hear a Christmas song (like Carol of the Bells, Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, etc.) with lyrics changed to peddle a product or service. This year, we have that infernal "Garmin dot com" commercial sung to the tune of Carol of the Bells. Make it stop! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 24, 2012, 12:36 pm

As I write this, in less than a week, the movie trailer has almost a million hits. It would've been cool if it were released in December 2012, the 30-year anniversary of ET's release on Atari. Better late than never, and ET sucked because it was rushed to make it to stores on time. The belated AVGN:TM release could be seen as satire, or a lesson being taught too late. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 15, 2012, 7:20 pm

Rocky - Movie Series
Interesting, Paulbrec. Since you have experience, it would be cool if you gave us some ideas and tips on how Rocky would have been more accurate! Sort of like how scientists give their input on sci-fi movies: what's accurate, what's not, how certain events would be feasible, etc. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 15, 2012, 7:17 pm

Ted Nugent - Music Groups
While I support some of his stances (such as being anti-Peta), insulting people who voted for Obama was uncalled for. I mean, what if he called Romney supporters neanderthals, bigots, and anti-education (against conservatives for being allegedly misogynistic, refusing to support gay marriage and talking of "killing" Big Bird, respectively)? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 15, 2012, 7:15 pm
