"Corky singing 'Fight the Power' by Public Enemy'" in and of itself was stealing The Isley Brothers's credit (though it WAS to the recording of Public Enemy). (the rest of the comments are from jumptheshark.com) More comments: Kellie Martin was a little too saccharine as Becca.Corky singing "Fight the Power" Flava Flav shoulda kicked some retard ass! This show REally is whaT wE ARe watching all the Damn time. Hey, in a day or so read "The Flintstones" over on the TV shows section..I reposted a bunch of comments from someone from memory, and I did the same for "The Cosby Show". At least BoneTheFish has somethin' that Jumptheshark Ain't got-----other categories (or FISH-egories :D) BESIDES TV! Hope you all had an excellent holiday season regardless of Christmas, Channakhah (spelling?), Kwanza, etc.Have a happy new years! -- Submitted By: (PokeyJHorse) on December 26, 2014, 3:46 am

Flintstones, The - TV Shows
The first two seasons of THE FLINTSTONES are, in my opinion, a great sitcom! The rest of the show is, in my opinion, strictly a childrens. In the first two seasons of THE FLINTSTONES we see characters get beaned over the head with shovels, bowling balls and stuff. We see characters smoking. This was based on the immensely popular HONEYMOONERS that Jackie Gleason and Audrey Meadows gave us. The third season, is, in my opinion where the show goes wrong for me. The season opens with a silly story about Dino falling for a dinosaur TV star ("Sassie") and then on in it gets worse. A few stories later (Barney invisible) the catchy "Rise and Shine" theme has been replaced by the childish (but admittedly popular "Meet the Flintstones" theme which, incidentally, made its debut in the previous season on a children's record.). The next step is that ABC broadcast the show in color. The first two seasons were broadcast exclusively in black-and-white. A change from Black and white to color was a common shark jumping point for TV in the early sixties. The final episode of Season 2 for me, where the Flintstones REALLY had its show finale. Then the irreversible fate occurewd-the birth of Pebbles. The great Jackie Gleason once said that the reason that The Kramdens never had any children (on HONEYMOONERS) is that the kind of behaviour that the Kramdens exhibited on the show ceases to be popular once children are present. The creators of THE FLINTSTONES apparently released Mr.Gleason's lesson too late. The episodes around the birth of Pebbles from then on in for a while center on the fact that Fred must change his ways if he is to be a proper father. We see the sponsor change from Winston Cigarettes to Welch's grape juice. The first two seasons, if memory serves me clear, featured a lot of cartoon characters smoking. The show is quicky becoming a childrnes program. No longer can it be the sophisticated parody of the Hooneymooners that it once was. Now, do not take me wrong. I am not advocating smoking and violence. I am only pointing these two elements out in the change of "The Flintstones" from beuing a great adult satire show to being a children's program. The elimination of smoking and of violence by Season 3 clearly shows this. Again-the change to grape juice just simply further reflects thisunneeded change to children and families in demographics. The third season featured the final scene of Flintstone smoking and it is done, if memory serves me, in a farewell way. It is in the episode where Fred has to leave with his guilty self. His conscience lights up a gag joke exploding cigar., After that, we longer see any cartoon Flintstones characters smoke. Ideal toys also are sponsors. Then the show by fourth seasaon gets more nausetingly childish and insanse-Barney floating (thrid season) after getting dental gas, a cameo appearance by Yogi Bear and Boo Boo. Fifth season and more and more elements of other extremely popular TV shows and extremely popular 1960s popular culture elements are introducted into the cartoon: Ann-Margret, "Shindig", rock music, etc. We even get an awful episode with Sammantha and Darrin from "Bewitched". Elements of "My Favorite Martian","Gunmsmoke","Bonana","PEtticoat Junction","the Beverly Hillbillies", the change in Betty;s voice, etc. The first two episodes of the Flintstones are excellent sitcom! The rest is, well, basically just childrens fare. But that's just my two cents. Cosby Show, The - TV Shows
Chubby Rain, I, too, am glad to see all of those old JumpTheShark comments...I don't see IceMouth (the one who'd announced such on the JumpTheShark or BoneTheFish entry lately but JTSComments, who must be the same person as IceMouth, different account, posted a lot... How about some that just from MEMORY, of my rememered comments from someone on Cosby? (From JumpTheShark, not the full comment). And let's talk about Cliff Huxtable's, or, Bill Cosby's Music. ....Louis Armstrong. I'm pretty sure that he was just spinnin' when he sang "Ain't Misbeahving'". B.B.King...that song was about whorehouses and prostitution...The Cosby Show does have some pretty good ideas in them but they are marred all the same by hypocrisy and by snobbery. -- Submitted By: (PokeyJHorse) on December 23, 2014, 11:59 pm

I've had Necco wafers on four occasions since Thanksgiving weekend and have enjoyed them. Sorry Pelirojo and Robert but Neccos are tasty..just threw the wrapper of my latest one away AND the date was 2015, NOT 1853!! Flintstones, The - TV Shows
I miss you, too, Shanequia! Hope Shanequia's here under a different name.. to Pelijoro's comment that opened this entry-"there was no real angst for any of the characters here"-ever see the cop begging the chief of police in Season 2's "The mailman cometh" on his hands and knees (after a subplot involving the cop-it was an actual Honeymooners borrow of the old "too-hasty" nasty letter to the boss). I think the first poster hasn't seen the first two seasons, though he,too, enjoys the show. It also wasn't drawn like the final seasons or like "Scooby-Doo"(the spinoffs sure were,though.). The earlier were like animated cartoons and there was more angst..see the first season dinosaur racing one where Fred and Barney cry over their bet dino "Sabertooth" losing and Fred gets beaten up and has trouble convincing Wilma of it!(LOL). Shanequia, hello to if you're under an alias..I've been on here as long as you guys.. -- Submitted By: (PokeyJHorse) on December 1, 2014, 12:25 am

Tootsie Rolls - Random Topics
Shanequia, wax is EXACTLY the texture of Tootsies.. Mr.Zimpy, your uncle isn't off base at all about what Tootsies looked like. I'm sure when that 1920s song Toot Toot Tootsie Goodbye was written, it was about Tootsie rolls! (To be honest though, the other-flavored varieties that the early 1970s brought were pretty good...) Robert, Neccos were pretty chalk like and at one brand of chewable vitamin (looking like a large white wafer) tasted similarly...Necco, btw, doesn;t have its own entry, but the name for them meant New England Confectionery Company. PrinceJ, your description of the flavor as artificial artificial chocolate also summed my youthful feelings about Tootsies. Didn't completely dislike them, but never really sank my teeth into them (and Pelirojo, good luck with the crown in the last four years that you it-I;'ve had a number of crowns and they work pretty well..) -- Submitted By: (PokeyJHorse) on October 26, 2014, 10:59 pm
