TV Shows - Love Boat

The Love Boat is an American television series set on a cruise ship, which aired on the ABC Television Network from 1977 until 1986. It was part of ABC's Saturday night "one-two punch" along with Fantasy Island, until the latter show ended in 1984. The original 1976 made-for-TV movie on which the show was based, also titled The Love Boat, was itself based on the nonfiction book The Love Boats by Jeraldine Saunders, a real-life cruise director. Two more TV movies (titled The Love Boat II and The New Love Boat, respectively) would follow before the series began its run. The executive producer for the series was Aaron Spelling, who produced several successful series for ABC from the 1960s to the 1980s. The sitcom was usually set aboard a cruise liner called the Pacific Princess, whose passengers and crew had romantic and funny adventures every week. Other ships used were twin sister Island Princess, the Stella Solaris (for a Mediterranean cruise), Pearl of Scandinavia (for a Chinese cruise), the Royal Viking Sky (for European cruises) and the Royal Princess (for a Caribbean cruise).

1 I always thought it funny that Gopher , for all intents and purposes, was supposed to be the "ladies man" type of character (although in goofy Jack Tripper type of way) whereas if the show was made today it would probably be Issac the bartender who would have LOTS more exposure to the lady passengers on the ship(and not just the black ones lol) ...I used to enjoy seeing episodes that featured a guest star who was on another show at the time ..like Dirk Beneidict from BSG or the guy that played "Jason" form "Jason Of Star Command"....will ALWAYS remember the Village People preforming on the show -- Submitted By: (richardparker) on November 1, 2013, 1:41 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 As bad as the show was (and it was AWFUL!), oddly enough, it almost singlehanded salvaged the cruise line industry which by that point was literally sinking due to it almost entirely being kept afloat as strictly as a travel option for old fogies too jittery to want to use airplane when travelling overseas. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on February 2, 2010, 11:37 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 I think the worst moment of this show was the episode where they had a bunch of old Broadway stars guesting as passengers and, yeeeees, there were musical numbers. Then suddenly, Gopher started singing some romantic song to one of the guests- and I freaking left the room. I never watched another episode. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on January 14, 2010, 11:42 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

5 This show bone when they bring in that little girl vicki. she really annoying but she not half as annoying as fugly dodie from my three sons. if they cast Dawn lyn as the captins daughter vicki someone throw her overboard for sure. -- Submitted By: (shanequia) on August 30, 2009, 9:23 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
