You can't watch full-length TV show episodes like you used to (you can watch some, but only certain ones). It is good for checking how-to videos though -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on September 1, 2014, 2:40 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
There are ways to get around the ads before the videos. I'm really starting to get aggravated with Google's failing attempts to make things "easier". Things don't feel "easier" they feel more like obstructions. Google still pesters me on the trivial question on what name I want to be under on YouTube. Clicking my YT screen name for the millionth time. Things should be separate for a reason, Google. Not enforced or prompted. And the continuation of Google + invading YT's site structure is getting beyond annoying. Google, nobody gives a shit about plus. People have only signed up on plus because you've pestered the fuck out of them enough to even bother. Least MSN took the hint when their attempt at social networking, Multiply, was an abysmal failure before finally shut down this year. Why can't you do the same? -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on December 4, 2013, 12:37 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I still like the selection but hate that so often one has to endure boring 'ad' videos before one can watch the one wanted to see. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on November 26, 2013, 10:36 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Amen to that, cartooner. It used to be I'd be able to post a comment because I'm logged onto YouTube - now I can't anymore. It's bullshit! -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on November 13, 2013, 10:54 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Another thing I want to mention is that they said that most comment notifications will sent to Google+ instead of your inbox. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the Google+ integration and the new comment system are the worst changes that Google has ever done to Youtube. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on November 10, 2013, 10:26 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
BTW, even Jawed Karim, one of the co-founders of Youtube, reacted negatively to the change. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on November 8, 2013, 12:17 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Youtube just updated their comment section. You are no longer able to comment on videos without having your account connected to Google Plus. Great, just great. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on November 7, 2013, 10:51 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Johnnydough: Thanks for the Dailymotion recommendation. Though it still has ads you're forced to watch, the copyright restrictions are somewhat lax compared to Youtube. Speaking of YT, they seem to have done away with their random playlisting option. A video ends, and there's no more countdown to the next video, unless it's part of a REAL playlist. GOOD RIDDANCE. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 4, 2013, 1:06 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
YouTube for folks me, is an escape from the endless parade of obnoxious bulls*** that is thrown around 24/7 these days. The problem I have (if I had to choose) are the ads. We are not interested in any of the useless bulls*** you are trying to sell us. For everyone like me, I recommend installing Ad Block Plus. It works on every browser and you can watch as many videos as you want, without the ads. It's a little secret I found out. I am also happy that alternatives like Daily Motion exist. Now to do something (if we can) about the log-in problems. -- Submitted By: () on November 3, 2013, 7:56 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
@Infyrin: You're still able to remove annotations, the button's just harder to find now. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on October 30, 2013, 8:21 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Just like I've ranted about Google in the Google thing. YouTube feels they need to make changes that nobody asks for. It was fine the way it was before Google decided that "VIDEOS NEED ADS!" and "HOMEPAGE NEEDS TO BE EASIER TO ACCESS!" and it just became a trainwreck from there. The site is a garbled fuck up, plain and simple. The comments are always messed up, you don't see thumbs down anymore, you cannot remove annotations now except manually, and everything else listed. The hell, Google...and no, I don't want to use my REAL name for a site that requires a screen name to register with. Keep your other Google-related shit off of YouTube. -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on October 29, 2013, 4:53 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The problem with Dailymotion is that they seems to have tons of ads, some of which are in the MIDDLE of clips! -- Submitted By: (John63btf) on September 18, 2013, 8:24 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I don't know about anyone else, but from my experience, I've only encountered the "Autoplay" when watching videos from a playlist, and I at least have the option of turning it off. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on September 14, 2013, 10:18 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
This is why I sometimes watch YouTube on my iPhone. You don't have to deal with most of that crap -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on September 14, 2013, 4:03 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Hey Robert, try DailyMotion. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on September 13, 2013, 7:42 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
YouTube just gets worse and worse. Behold, the newest "feature": ALL videos have autoplay on them. As soon as your video ends--unless it's part of the uploader's playlist--a time limit will begin for a random video to play. You have ten seconds to click cancel, or it will start. If you fail to click cancel, even clicking Replay won't stop the countdown: as soon as the ten second countdown ends, the random video will override your command to replay. It's now unwatchable. It's as though they hired someone to sabotage their site. Well, Mr. Saboteur, Mission accomplished. If someone knows a better video sharing website, for the love of God, speak up! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on September 13, 2013, 5:59 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
One other annoyance is that Youtube will occasionally ask you if you want to switch your username to your real name (through your Gmail account). -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on August 21, 2013, 11:22 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I don't have YT account, as I go there to watch videos, not comment on them. A tip I've learned from watching countless YT flame wars: If someone makes nasty reply to your comment, LET IT GO. If you retaliate, they will NOT let you get the last word in, and they'll intensify their virulence with each response. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on July 6, 2013, 3:26 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It is sometimes funny, sometimes depressing, seeing some of the arguments some of the users get going on YouTube. Makes you weep for humanity at times -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on July 6, 2013, 11:37 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
EDIT: *And do not bother with most of the asshole commenters on YouTube. I've yet to figure out their problem as well. -- Submitted By: (Crewman) on July 3, 2013, 1:50 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
