Super Friends is an American animated television series about a team of superheroes, which ran from 1973 to 1986 on ABC as part of its Saturday morning cartoon lineup. It was produced by Hanna-Barbera and was based on the Justice League of America and associated comic book characters published by DC Comics. The name of the program, and the JLA members featured with the Super Friends, have been variously represented (such as Super Friends and Challenge of the Super Friends for example) at different points in its broadcast history. There were a total of 109 episodes.

Am I the only one who used to wonder what Wonder Dog was doing hanging out with Wendy and Marvin instead of Wonder Woman? Was THAT how they got into the Justice League- as Wonder Woman's DOG SITTERS?! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on November 13, 2011, 5:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

I agree with the last commenter. The earlier seasons were very slow-paced because of all the preaching it did...especially with most of it coming from the narrator. It felt like a half hour public service message. But when they changed to just the adventures (the Wonder Twins years) it got better...then the last seasons with Firestorm made it even better! -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on November 12, 2011, 3:28 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
This was an interesting case because the show started out as complete garbage due to early '70's "sensitivities" and then improved as it went along. It probably did peak with the "Challenge" season (the only season that I actually bothered to purchase), but IIRC the last couple of seasons were pretty good too, even if they were toy commercials. The final season even depicted Batman's origin, which had never been done before onscreen. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on April 26, 2011, 11:29 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
There was an episode of SuperFriends called "Doomsday" in which Scientologist writer Jeffrey Scott snuck in an "Admiral Hubbard". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0776306/ -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on March 12, 2010, 10:58 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
The villains made this show- the LEGION OF DOOM was classic. Who didnt want to sign up for that supergroup of Grod, Luther, Sinestro etc.? The best part was when they put the superfriends on trial for upholding the law- classic cartoon television in every frame. Once they were worked off the show, it boned, but recovered slightly when the Kirby era "Apokolips" villain Darkseid became the primary antagonist in the mid 80's, but by then it was being used more to launch new toys as opposed to the LEGION OF DOOM era. And you can take the sidekick characters and have Green Lantern send them into the vacuum of space- yes Wondertwins, Gleek, Wonderdog, Wendy and Marvin- I mean all of you. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 20, 2009, 9:56 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
