Just looked back over some old comments "... For everyone who says I like standalones, well then go watch Matlock or Murder She Wrote. Television has evolved since the 90s. -- Submitted By: (dauntless)" Ouch! Dude, I'm not THAT old. LOL! -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on May 30, 2014, 1:34 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
They ignored their own premise. This was supposed to be a prequel to the original Star Trek and had fantastic potential and awesome opportunities to tell the whole building of Star Fleet story. Instead, they went wildly off course in the first season when they introduced the insanely convoluted temporal cold war story arc and later became obsessed with the Xindi. I lost interest in them after the first few episodes but they continued to beat this very dead horse week afetr week after week. They established in the pilot and first few episodes that the Vulcans did not like humans very much and did not want us to have warp tech. Why not develop that story line and show how we became friends? Enterprise did not really have anything to do with the other Star Trek series and completely ignored the Roddenberry Bible. I liked Archer and T'Pol but the show really, really, really was terrible. -- Submitted By: (jmac9909) on March 28, 2013, 3:41 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
A ship whose design - and innards - are clearly much more advanced than the namesake ship of a century later can't help but bone from the start. And the characters were just colorless (not to mention cliched). -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on April 20, 2011, 4:04 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
2 words: nazi aliens. How is that not a choice? -- Submitted By: (Googalslosh) on April 4, 2011, 6:39 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
tsbrownie- I do agree with you on the whole 'time-travel as a problem solver' crutch. What I actually found refreshing about the newest movie was how they took the time travel thing and showed how it very nearly f'd everthing up forever and even then, when all was said and done, the timeline was forever thrown somewhat out of whack. But, you are right. ST:ENT relied on it way too much for my liking. Still, I thought the show had potential. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on January 27, 2011, 9:48 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
BTF when they got into time travel. Once you start that anything can happen and that makes the premise of the show jump around = silly. When you can go back in time then the rules of the show can change from one minute to the next. Something terrible's about to happen? No problem time travel just fixed it. "Deus ex machina." Boring. The other issue I had with the show was the promise to tell us the backstory of the original Star Trek which it never really did to any degree. I guess the writers wanted to go off on their own and forgot who their audience / customer was. -- Submitted By: (tsbrownie) on January 27, 2011, 12:44 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
I posted on JTS for this show the day before it went kaput. I can't even remember what I said though. Anyhow, this show really wasn't what I was expecting. It would have been better if they dealt with aliens that were talked about but never shown who were future UFP members and how humans encountered them(You should figure most of the first aliens encountered would become fed members). Instead they bring in TNG aliens(ie Ferengi, Borg) who really shouldn't have been heard of at this time or introduce new ones(which is fine in some cases). It was ok with the Andorians and the Klingons but there should have been something on how the Federation came in conflict with the Romulans(I didn't see every episode so correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, the show was ok but not up to previous standards. I know some blame the "killer B's" Brandon Bragga and Rick Berman for the decline of the Star Trek franchise. I guess that could have been the problem too. Someone who's a bigger ST fan could elaborate possibly. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on August 19, 2010, 9:39 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Who the hell thinks it was all a Holodeck Simulation? "These Are the Voyages..." simply is a simulation of actual events that occurred on Enterprise. -- Submitted By: (TEG24601) on June 16, 2010, 4:37 pm - (5 votes) - Login to Vote
I love the opening theme...the theme is the main reason I began watching the series at all. -- Submitted By: (Swanpride) on June 13, 2010, 1:27 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Good LORD that opening theme was horrible. Hell, "horrible" doesn't even do it justice! Then again this show might have actually BTF *before* day one when I saw the ad for the first show and it had...human-Vulcan shower sex. Yeah. I knew right then and there I wouldn't be adding that show to my list of must-sees. Must MISSES was more like it. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on May 3, 2010, 1:51 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I voted boned from day one. I think what they tried to do in Season 3 was add some continuity to the show, but they went overboard with a season long arc. Season 4 was the best written season in my opinion with the 3 episode arcs, and also payed homage to the original series feel with the new Executive Producer Manny Coto. Go figure right Berman & Braga take a back seat and the show gets better? For everyone who says I like standalones, well then go watch Matlock or Murder She Wrote. Television has evolved since the 90s. -- Submitted By: (dauntless) on April 30, 2010, 4:08 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Two clues in the first episode: How bad is the writing when the main character keeps using the word "ass?" How many times does any intelligent, thinking person...let alone a star ship captain(!)... use that word in one hour? More importantly, the theme song set the tone for a dumbed-down cheap show. All the previous ST themes soared. This one... -- Submitted By: (BobNYC) on April 17, 2010, 1:12 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm a long time Star Trek fan dating back to the 70's (my Dad turned me on to Star Trek) and I actually liked Star Trek: Enterprise. However, I do believe it could have been written more carefully and better (particularly in the first 3 seasons). My biggest pet peeve with the show was it's continuous reliance on multi-episode story arcs. Hard to win new fans, when you practically have to see the show from the beginning of the season (or worse the previous season) to know whats going on. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on January 14, 2010, 11:49 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
The T'Pol character was well written and opened up a demographic for all women viewers. Loved the ep. her mother TaPowu went back 2 the Earth in 1955 Like Back to the Future.! -- Submitted By: (ChrissyM) on July 13, 2009, 6:08 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I look at this show as where Star Trek as a franchise really went to an all time low. Ret-conning, silly plots, shoe-horning in stuff and bad writing and acting made for some of the worst Trek to ever grace the small screen. I hope the enw Movie this summer can bring it back, but it needs to stay off TV for a loooooong time to get the Fish Boning Stench of Enterprise off the franchise!! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 24, 2009, 12:32 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
