Websites - JumptheShark.com

A defining moment when you know that your favorite television program has reached its peak. That instant that you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it the climax. We call it "Jumping the Shark." From that moment on, the program will simply never be the same. he term "jump the shark" was coined by site founder Jon Hein's college roommate of 4 years, Sean J. Connolly, in Ann Arbor, Michigan back in 1985. This web site, book, film, and all other material surrounding shark jumping, are hereby dedicated to "the Colonel." The aforementioned expression refers to the telltale sign of the demise of Happy Days, our favorite example, when Fonzie actually "jumped the shark." The rest is history. Jumping the shark applies not only to TV, but also music, film, even everyday life. We invite you to comment when any show jumped the shark.

TV Guide completely bastardized the heart/content/intent of everything that jumptheshark.com was meant to be. I was quite displeased to see that the site was KILLED OFF by the money machine, but quite glad that Bone the Fish has revitalized the conversation and the voting. -- Submitted By: (MvGSports) on July 17, 2015, 9:52 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote

Icemouth, and also Jumpthesharkcomments, too, thank you both very much for the comments that I've asked those like you to repost. Been looking at and remembering the Cosby show comments...hoping for more. Any one know about that two users are helping the cause here or are Icemouth and jumpthesharkcomments the same user? -- Submitted By: (PokeyJHorse) on November 23, 2014, 10:10 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote

Hey guys, I've started posting some of the original JTS comments on here (it's under this account btw). Sorry it took so long but I had been really tied up with work and all. I am going to keep posting them as often as I can, for those of you who would like to see them. From now on, my comments will be from the original JTS site, unless I specify otherwise. Be sure to check them out when you get the chance. -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on August 15, 2014, 7:31 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote

Fuck TV Guide! Btw, I do have working links to the Jumped The Shark archives (A-Z). Those bastards THOUGHT they completely blocked the Wayback Machine, but they really didn't. :) I even saved/screenshot the pages just in case they try some bullshit again. -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on May 1, 2014, 7:57 pm - (7 votes) - Login to Vote
Now it appears they are frequently posting articles on that "page" which now is just listed as "Keyword- Jump the Shark" so if any article on their site uses that phrase, it goes there, the chummy churn continues there. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on March 4, 2014, 6:21 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
That is weird. Basically, they use the phrase as a "tag"/ "keyword" in a regular TV Guide article once a month. I wonder if it's some legal thing. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on February 14, 2014, 6:06 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Well Well- the Scottish Site hath returned, looks like the Bozos at TV Guide put an entire monthly post on that sad sack site since last September- they must have an intern. Laughably the first post is "Should the X Factor Die Already" how about "Should your website die already" Who are the braindead masses posting on there- they have alot of long winded passionate comments, and I dont see one questioning what a POS that site is now. Go post a comment and tell them to BONE a bit over here. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on February 14, 2014, 6:38 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 years, 4 months, 26 days since the last update. Nice Job TV Guide! -- Submitted By: (BrewMaster) on November 22, 2013, 6:46 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
As "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase would always say in his wrestling promos, "Everyone has a price!", so I don't fault Hein for selling, like I have said before. What I don't like is how everything had gone down with Jump The Shark after getting sold. That does stink to high heaven. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on November 30, 2012, 1:59 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
One more thing, selling JTS was such a cop out. It's like whoever came up with that idiotic idea, was a sensitive ass pansy who couldn't take criticism on TV shows being written and wanted to ruin it for everyone else. Things aren't always picture perfect. There are some shows that i still love but that i put my 2 cents in about because even though i love the show it doesn't mean that it's flawless and that i love every single thing about it. JTS was an outlet for ppl to be honest about when their favorite shows started to go downhill. Once again, i'm grateful for BTF for picking up where JTS left off and showing that lame TVguide site how this shit is really done. Bravo BTF. -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on November 30, 2012, 7:50 am - (6 votes) - Login to Vote
