Movie Series - Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th is an American horror franchise that consists of twelve slasher films, a television show, novels, comic books, and tie-in merchandise. The franchise mainly focuses on the fictional character of Jason Voorhees, who drowned at Camp Crystal Lake as a boy due to the negligence of the camp staff. Decades later, the lake is rumored to be "cursed" and is the setting for a series of mass murders. Jason features in all of the films, either as the killer or the motivation for the killings.

1 The sad part is, the way the Jason character's been watered down the writers would have Berkowitz win. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on July 27, 2012, 3:57 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Originally "Jason Takes Manhattan" was supposed to be called "Jason Takes Manhattan, The Bronx and Staten Island Too", but they decided that title was too long. J/K, but anytime you have a horror film with the main protagonist (antagonist?) "taking Manhattan" be on the lookout for a lot of comic relief. What's next? "Jason Meets David Berkowitz"? -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on July 26, 2012, 5:22 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 One of the prime examples of a movie franchise being whored for all it is worth, and then some, regardless of how badly it bones -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on January 5, 2010, 4:09 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
4 For me, part 5 was the moment when I knew it was all going to be downhill. The series just wasn't actually scary anymore and on top of that, part 4 had tried to end the series before it was too late, but unfortunately it was too profitable to stop; at least they realized how silly the whole thing was becoming so they settled on making a couple of decent black comedies before the whole thing really tanked. Compared to the last few entries in the series, the remake was pretty decent. Not great, but at least it went back to the basics and tried to breathe some life back into a franchise that'd gone from dead to zombie years ago. -- Submitted By: (Maskdt) on January 4, 2010, 11:01 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
5 Dude, Freddy vs. Jason was a trillion times better than Jason X, which was almost as bad as Jason Goes To Hell (when there's no Jason through the whole thing fer cryin' out loud). -- Submitted By: (Dropmurphy) on May 20, 2009, 4:01 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
6 Friday the 13th managed to stay watchable through several movies. The first heavily influenced the genre for years to come, the third gave us the iconic hockey mask, and even the fourth was a great story, with Corey Feldman killing Jason in the end. It started sharpening up the fillet knife with Part 5, the faux-Jason movie, but then Jason Lives came along with lots of action and humour, great characters and an Alice Cooper theme, plus Jason became a superhuman zombie and a serious badass. Part 7 wasn't bad, and even 8 was entertaining, but Jason Goes to Hell dumped a whole truckload of bony fish on us. The FBI operation at the beginning was fantastic, then it all went down hill, what with the retconning and the body swapping and the complete lack of Jason until the very end. What the hell was that? Jason X, however, wasn't bad, except that Freddy vs. Jason dealt us a serious fishslapping soon after. -- Submitted By: (AndyC) on April 30, 2009, 9:28 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
7 These are not cinematic masterpieces but instead are around for the camp value. They have not boned for this reason. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 6, 2009, 11:03 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
