TV Shows - Far Out Space Nuts

Far Out Space Nuts is a Sid and Marty Krofft children's television series that aired in 1975 for one season, and produced 15 episodes. It was one of only two Krofft series produced exclusively for CBS (the second being 1984's Pryor's Place). Like most children's television shows of the era, Far Out Space Nuts contained a laugh track. Like most of the Kroffts' productions, the show's opening sequence provides the setup of its fanciful premise: While loading food into various compartments to prepare a rocket for an upcoming mission, Barney instructs Junior to hit the "lunch" button, but Junior mistakenly hits the "launch" button. The rocket blasts off and takes them on various misadventures on alien planets. The show starred Bob Denver as Junior, a seemingly dim-witted but uniquely clever maintenance worker employed by NASA, and Chuck McCann as Barney, his grumpy, short-tempered co-worker. Patty Maloney played Honk, their furry friend who made horn sounds instead of speaking.

1 Glad to hear my encyclopedic knowledge of all things obscure and trivial have helped yo. Yes, I saw that BTF did not have entries for 'Far Out Space Nuts' and 'The Lost Saucer' so I kindly submitted them. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on September 10, 2014, 10:13 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
2 For years, I've been trying to remember what the name of this show was ... I did see some episodes when it aired in the '70s and about all I remember it was that it was generally corny and had the opening sequence with the dimmer of the two main characters mishearing "lunch" as "launch". I think the question even stumped Yahoo Answers, but props on BTF for coming through! -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on September 8, 2014, 7:03 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
