Addams Family, The Comments (You must Login to Comment)

Might sound funny, but we could use a TV family like the Addams. Even though they were weird and mysterious, you can't deny that they didn't love each other. Gomez and Morticia are a shining example of a strong marriage after many years and they were good, albeit again strange, parents for their kids. They also showed that you can do your own thing and it's cool. People always tried to take advantage of their enormous fortune or find ways to get rid of them, but the friendly, non judging nature of the family basically drove people crazy and kept the Addams bond strong. With the high number of shows with broken families or families that just confirm to a certain behavior traits, we could use the influence of Gomez, Morticia and the clan, even if they are creepy and kooky. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on July 16, 2012, 3:14 pm - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
Ummm, Prince ... that was the whole premise of the show. Are you saying that's why it boned? -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on July 15, 2012, 9:58 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
a show about a family of happy, well adjusted gouls who think they are perfectly normal and don't understand why everyone runs away from them in horror. -- Submitted By: (PrinceJ) on July 15, 2012, 8:42 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Sorry, but upon comparison, THE MUNSTERS, even THE GROOVIE GHOULIES are too many steps ahead of the Gomez and his creepy kin: It's surprising that the Addams Family had to wait until the nineties to be on the big screen. -- Submitted By: () on February 22, 2012, 10:22 pm - (-6 votes) - Login to Vote
Good point, Veritech, and in the interest of honest discussion I've added "Day One" as a reason. My personal vote, however, is for "Still Rocks." -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on October 19, 2010, 11:07 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote

I agree with you completely TheDeanofNYC. Comparing those two programs is truly like comparing an apple to an orange. Frankly, I liked both shows for the divergent reasons you've outlined. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on August 23, 2010, 12:06 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
People constantly compare this program to "The Munsters," and on the surface it's easy to see why: both series debuted in the same television season and both were about families that were peculiar in a horror B movie sort of way. HOWEVER, the difference was that "The Munsters" were all slapstick nonsense, while "The Addams Family" were full of passion! That was the secret ingredient that lifted The Addamses and their motley brood far above their Mockingbird Heights counterparts! The love story of Gomez and Morticia is the true centerpiece of this show, and that's what makes it so much superior to Herman and Lily. And really the passion plays out in everything, in their hobbies, in their caring for the people around them. Despite being creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky and yes, altogether ooky, The Addams Family is genius. Big props to John Astin and Carolyn Jones who are still the hottest television couple in history, and to Ted Cassidy who was genius as Lurch, plus Jackie Coogan as Fester! And of course Vic Mizzy who gave us the great incidental music that scored the episodes and that memorable theme, still heard in ballparks all over the USA! Two snaps up. -- Submitted By: (TheDeanofNYC) on August 21, 2010, 10:02 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Well ahead of its' time. I watched this show when I was a kid (in the 60's) - it has never lost its' humor value. Simply, the best. -- Submitted By: (hbrennan) on January 14, 2010, 6:20 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
The movies sucked by comparison, but the original show, wow. Carolyn Jones was a goddess, rest her sole. One day, a writer with talent will come forth and TV will suck no more. -- Submitted By: (Bobsuruncle) on June 9, 2009, 12:37 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
