1 Serial killer Brick, that's hysterical because it's true! -- Submitted By: (martymarty) on October 29, 2014, 4:43 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Axl is dumb as a post, Sue is insane, Brick is serial killer material, and mom and dad are oblivious to it all. Sue's old "boyfriend" Brad keeps getting more over-the-top gay every day but gets his feelings hurt if anyone suggests he might like boys. Throw in Grandpa Big Mike and Mike's creepy ass brother and you have the weirdest family ever on TV short of the Addams Family. It somehow all works and is usually hysterical. -- Submitted By: (spacer) on October 21, 2014, 8:55 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
3 I hated this show at first but gave it a chance and a couple of episodes later became a fan. It's not about the kids so much as it is about the parents dealing with them. I agree Neil Flynn and Pat Heaton are super together, very much an old married couple who love each other but seldom get mushy about it. -- Submitted By: (martymarty) on June 7, 2014, 8:42 am - (5 votes) - Login to Vote
4 Unlike a lot of family sitcoms, the parents are the backbone of this show. Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn have amazing on-screen chemistry and are completely believable as a working class couple struggling to keep things together, both financially and emotionally. They hate their kids sometimes but always look out for their interests even if it means being yelled at by ungrateful brats. The young actors playing the kids are amazing and bring to life weird and often unlikeable characters. Axl, for instance, refused to wear pants for the first two seasons and came to the dinner table (and TV, and game night, and entertaining visitors) in only his jockey shorts. Sue is so needy and whiney you want to run away as soon as you see her. Brick is completely neurotic and is plagued by nervous tics and has been banished to a class for socially impaired kids. Put all of this together and you get a great show. The Heck's don't live in a nice home, they live in a dump, mom and dad work at low paying jobs they hate, and the kids are all seriously flawed. It's a nice slice of life and show how millions of Americans really live. It's also very funny! -- Submitted By: (jmac9909) on April 11, 2014, 2:26 pm - (7 votes) - Login to Vote
