The film follows the warrior Liu Kang, actor Johnny Cage, and Special Forces agent Sonya Blade, guided by the Thunder God Raiden, on their journey to combat the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung and his forces in a tournament to save Earth. 1 I don't think Annihilation knew what it was aiming for. If it had been based on the arcade sequel, then it could've been good or decent at best. But, the characters in Annihilation were mostly from MK3. Which doesn't make sense to me. There's a reason the sequel is forever on many lists of the worst sequel and worst movie overall in history. It's a very cheesy sequel and you'd have to have a guilty pleasure for finding something to like about it. -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on March 19, 2014, 4:19 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation sucks for replacing most of the original cast, making Jax a wuss WITH the mechanical arms, giving Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Nightwolf pointless cameos when they should have done more in the movie, giving Johnny, Rain, Sheeva and Jade anti-climatic Fatalities and making Raiden useless. Crap movie, one of the worst video game adaptions ever. Sad because the first MK film was one of the best. -- Submitted By: (TrueBackLash) on March 3, 2013, 9:36 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The first movie was first-rate schlock just like the game it was based on. Almost a throwback to the 70's chopsockies. Then came that awful, awful sequel. A mess in every sense of the word. Nonsensical script, major casting changes, too many characters with nothing to do. People diss Paul W. S. Anderson, probably deservedly, but he knew what he was doing with the first MK film. That hack that did the sequel sure didn't. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on March 25, 2012, 7:14 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The sequel was laughable bad and so full of cheese. At least the first one was decent. I think the 2nd movie kind a ruined Mortal Kombat for a long while. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on July 20, 2011, 3:29 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
This movie was pretty dumb but not as much as the sequel or the tv series they made. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on July 18, 2011, 6:21 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
