TV Shows - Blossom

The series begins with Blossom's mother having left the family to pursue her own life and career and the family trying to adjust. Blossom's dad Nick (Ted Wass) is a session musician who was frequently between gigs and tours. Her oldest brother Anthony (Michael Stoyanov) is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. Joey (named Donny in the pilot episode) (Joey Lawrence), the other brother, is a fairly stereotypical "dumb jock", known for the drawn-out delivery of his catch phrase, "whoa".

This show was decent in the beginning before all of the very special episodes. I recall Phylicia Rashad, Will Smith, Salt N Pepper, Little Richard and ALF all making appearances on the show. Blossom was one of the first programs of the 1990s along with Twin Peaks, In Living Color and Northern Exposure. The show was different from all else that was on at the time because of that fact listed above. I thought Six had a weird name until Seven showed up on Married with Children. Who can forget when Joey Lawrence let out a "whooooa". This show seemed to go downhill from ninety three to ninety four. Firstly, almost every episode was about Blossom dating new guy of the week. Then, that Kennedy girl and her mother were added. Did this show really need a child star? It was supposed to be a girl blossoming into a woman. I just stopped watching somewhere in the mid 90s. -- Submitted By: (tvwatcher7) on September 13, 2014, 4:21 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
As I recall, a running joke was that Joey used to run around without pants or undies when he was little, just a shirt. When he got into trouble he would say he was dressed just like Donald Duck, to which his dad would reply, "Joey, Donald Duck has feathers!" Sometimes when Joey did something stupid as a teen, his dad or older brother would would say, "It's Donald Dick all over again!" I agree it wasn't the best sitcom but it was pleasant to watch and Blossom and Six were pretty adorable. -- Submitted By: (martymarty) on June 20, 2014, 11:42 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
This was an fairly inoffensive show, not very entertaining, not really interesting, but a reasonable 30 minutes to kill. Blossom was a likeable girl, but all the guys I knew were loving Six, and all the girls loved Joey. Blossom became a background character to many of us viewers. The dad was worthless, and the other brother had very little screen time. Nothing to see here, a show that had potential, but was overshadowed by dopey Joey. -- Submitted By: (Englebert) on June 14, 2014, 12:46 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Actually "Blossom" WAS the name of Tumbleweeds' horse in that comic strip, so the name fits. I get that she wasn't supposed to be hot. I found it annoying that she was so in demand in spite of this. What planet did this take place on? -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on September 11, 2012, 3:33 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
John, It sounds as though both Mr. Hanks and Ms. Biaylik should have been insulted but it's hard to tell which of them should have been MORE insulted here! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on December 3, 2011, 4:33 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
The "Blossom Gump" episode...yes, it was as bad as it sounds -- Submitted By: (John63btf) on December 1, 2011, 11:23 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
the chick who played blossom must be related to sarah jessica parker. that horse face resemblance is undeniable. -- Submitted By: (VeritechRyan) on October 20, 2010, 12:21 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I got sick of hearing about Nick's past drug problem in every other episode. We get the point. Besides, it's no wonder he was a drug addict. That father was a horrible parent. He let everything slide. It was unrealistic and stupid. -- Submitted By: (ats3717) on August 16, 2009, 8:02 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Blossom wasn't supposed to be hot. Damn does every show need a someone you like to bone. In order to watch it. I like it. She was interesting. The storylines where pretty great if you got into. It was an emotional wave without you being caught in the tide. i.e MY SO CALLED LIFE. If you wanted fluff. Go watch a Peter Engel show. -- Submitted By: (Yusiri86) on July 24, 2009, 2:42 am - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
