Detroit 1-8-7 is an American crime drama series that began airing on ABC in September 2010. The series stars Michael Imperioli as Detective Louis Fitch, a respected yet deeply misunderstood man fighting crime on the streets of Detroit.

I glanced over this show once early one. First, the thing that started out as an insult is that 187 is CALIFORNIA code for murder. It's a parking violation (or something) in Detroit. It may be believed that this slang term has echoed across the world, but not, apparently in Detroit.
