Movie Series - Mask, The

The Mask is a Dark Horse comic book series created by writer John Arcudi and artist Doug Mahnke, and based on a concept by publisher Mike Richardson. The series follows a magical mask which imbues the wearer with reality-bending power and physical imperviousness, as well as bypassing the wearer's psychological inhibitions.

Mask, The Comments (You must Login to Comment)

1 The first Mask movie was by and far one of Carrey's best efforts before he went serious. There was no need to make a sequel at all - wild horses couldn't make me watch that load of swill that was Son of the Mask. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on March 8, 2011, 12:33 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
2 The Mask was originally conceived as a horror film, but for some reason it was re-tooled/re-written as a comedy and made into a vehicle for the then up and coming Jim Carrey (up and coming as a big box office draw, that is). The first Mask movie was brilliant and funny. However Son of the Mask was just completely unnecessary. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on January 18, 2010, 11:10 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 I remember watching movie previews when there was one for the Mask 2. I heard a guy in the audience go, "Aw, they RUINED it!" I think the Mask was great, but Jim Carrey making funny faces starts to wear off. That's probably why he chose to star in some serious movies from that point on. The first Mask was fun, the second Mask was garbage. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 12, 2009, 1:19 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
4 I agree, Chubby Rain. Jim Carry doing that 'SMOKIN'! yell with the green face was a classic moment but I think it would have far better had this been done in a single 'Saturday Night Live' sketch instead of trying to work an entire movie (much less two) around it! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on April 20, 2009, 11:31 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
5 This was an off beat title from Dark Horse Comics, that in my humble opinion, should NEVER have been made into any sort of film. It was just a mid 90's bad CGI/ Jim Carrey is funny- "lets laugh at him because he talks loud and makes wierd face" - vehicle to sell tickets. It's just really bad, then the really odd part, they made a "Dancing baby" sequel- Son of the Mask. It begs the question- Why? Boned the Fish on Day One!! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 20, 2009, 4:55 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
