First of all, I love Penn and Teller, as magicians, not as social commentators. Two things really killed this show for me. 1: Showtime's insane scheduling so you never knew when it was on, and 2: Penn Gillete's increasingly unfunny and untrue right-wing political attacks. The earlier shows were good, funny and they did debunk some things that needed debunking. The later shows (when you could actually find them) were full of Penn's personal bias and Republican BS. When he started saying climate change was a hoax and NASA didn't do half of what they claim (he didn't come right out and say the lunar landings were hoaxes but he implied it) I quit watching. If they go back to doing their great, funny, and weird magic specials I will definiteky watch. In the meantime, Bullshit! is Bullshit! -- Submitted By: (jmac9909) on July 11, 2013, 9:12 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I tried watching a couple of these on Youtube. They were even topics I WANTED to see get debunked-- PeTA, for their killing of animals and Martial Arts, for all the fraudulent instructors out there. These things were only briefly mentioned, if at all. Instead, I was treated to something more akin to a Michael Moore documentary; a smug fat guy that thinks he's funny (but isn't) interviewing only the lunatic fringe of the side he's against, and then editing the footage out of context to make the people look even dumber and himself smarter. And to that a dash of pointless cursing (because it's cable and he can) and even more pointless topless women at the end. Very disappointed. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on September 26, 2012, 12:08 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm not sure exactly when the censorship began. We, the viewers, found out about it with the DVD release of season 7, but if I had to guess, I'd say it goes back as far as season 5. That's where things started getting suspicious. -- Submitted By: (TheCeej) on May 9, 2011, 10:35 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
When the topics became silly. Don't know if it's censorship, running out of ideas or both, but I don't enjoy the show like I once did. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on April 21, 2011, 4:16 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
I first noticed the censorship when the Vatican episode in season 7 seemed to disappear without a trace. It aired once, but it's been deleted from the official episode guide and the only mention it ever existed is a tiny episode stating it's not part of the "complete" season on DVD. We know what really happened. Showtime censored it. The lack of many fan-demanded episodes and abundance of completely silly episodes (for example, old people starring Maddox) leads me to believe there's more corporate censorship than the Vatican episode that we just don't know about because it never got its one airing. -- Submitted By: (TheCeej) on April 20, 2011, 9:06 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I find the show funny and interesting. There's a lot of gullible, stupid people out there. There are a few things that annoy me. The guests are over the top in their actions and just seem useless and pointless to the show. Penn does get a bit preachy at times during the show, which gets on my nerves. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on November 29, 2010, 12:53 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Yes, there are those moments, for the most part though, Penn and Teller are not full of bullshit, and the show is quite interesting -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on November 28, 2010, 12:39 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
What can I say about a show which calls itself BS. The rouble with this whole thing is that every show consists of finding some idiot that is selling BS to the world such as occultists, political radicals, nut jobs, con artists, scams and such and then spend the next 30 minutes listening to the fat guy use the "f" word a lot in attempt to be funny. The trouble is that most of the topics covered here are not really very interesting in the first place and the "guests" are ususally too stupid to know that they are being made fun of anyway. The fat guy isn't really funny and somebody should tell him that saying fuck a lot doesn't make hime funny either. They should rename this show "Boring Shit" -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on November 28, 2010, 5:44 am - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
