Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Comments (You must Login to Comment)

Man, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was a good one when it first started. It used to come on before Ferris Bueller (w/ Jennifer Aniston) on Monday nights. This show was perfect for the early 90s. The early 90s could also go by the name "the Cheesy Pop-Rap Era". There were so many moments on this program. My favorite part from one episode was when Carlton sung Jungle Fever by Steve Wonder. This show not only boned the fish but buried its remains also. I didn't like the new Vivian, she was bland to the core. Then, Nicky was born and Will began making too many fat and short jokes. I wanted to throw my remote at the screen whenever Carlton did his Tom Jones dance. We get it, Carlton did not want to identify himself as African American. I couldn't stand Will's relationship with Lisa played by Nia Long. The very special episodes were even worse, but they were funny because they were so bad. -- Submitted By: (tvwatcher7) on September 13, 2014, 4:33 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The show jumped the shark whenever Nicky was born and then suddenly in the next episode he was 3 or 4 years old. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on August 17, 2014, 6:36 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
When Will wanted to bone that religious girl who won't have sex until she's married, he got Jazz to dress up like a minister to trick her into thinking they're married. That's fucked up -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on August 17, 2014, 6:32 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I hate whenever Carlton dances to Tom Jones and does that corny-ass swinging thing. In fact, I hate Carlton in general -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on August 17, 2014, 6:31 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Nicky was annoying and unnecessary -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on August 17, 2014, 6:30 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
When they had Nia Long appear as too many people and the whole thing at the end of an episode where Will and her didn't get married but their parents did...making Will and Lisa STEPSIBLINGS...like how sick was that? That definitely shouldn't have been included! -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on August 17, 2014, 6:29 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
WHAT WAS SO DAMN FUNNY? Damn! All you would see is Will Smith make a stupid ass face and scream like a girl and the whole audience would howl with laughter. Yeah right! He was the most annoying person I've seen on T.V. since Raven-Symone on The Cosby Show -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on August 17, 2014, 6:27 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The perfect Jumping point for the Fresh Prince of Bel Air is the hazing episode. You know the one, Will and Carlton both pledge the fraternity and Carlton is hazed for being too white. The line "I'm running the same race as you brother, why are you tripping me up?" is a perfect example of "A Very Special..." The show, nor myself, was never the same after hearing that line. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on August 17, 2014, 6:24 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Rest in peace, James Avery, who played the memorable Uncle Phil (Philip Banks).. him throwing Jazz out of the house never got old -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on January 2, 2014, 3:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I used to really enjoy this as a kid and i still catch it sometimes when it's on, but now that i'm older I really notice how fucking campy it really is. I'm not saying it's terrible at all but it's kind of average & formulaic. Typical episode, Will disses Carlton's height, Phil's weight, Hilary's dim wittedness, etc. I mean i'm no prude or anything, and definitely have a good sense of humor, but it's really repetitive and the only thing anybody ever picks on Will about is his ears and that's only once in a blue moon. Like the viewers are supposed to see Will as being perfection personified. Lol. Like the episode about Will being accepted into Princeton, or the episode where Will took all the attention from Carlton for being so great at basketball. It's like can Carlton ever have his moment for once? They made him look like the ultimate loser and like Will was Jesus Christ reincarnated. It became overkill with all the Will ass-kissing in my book. -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on November 28, 2012, 10:38 am - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
A LOL moment was when Will is hospitalized after a run-in with some thugs and Carlton decides to buy a gun and go after them for revenge. I think it was one of the dreaded NBC "a very special" episodes. -- Submitted By: (John63btf) on December 4, 2011, 11:27 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
SSM is right!!! I wouldn't have put it quite the way he did but Ashley went from being one of the coolest girls ever to just another spoiled "you can't tell ME what to do!!!" teen brat, and it was so true to real life (in a bad way) that I had to quit watching. It wasn't just her parents either, she'd even tell off WILL when he tried to stop her from doing yet another stupid teen thing. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on December 29, 2010, 12:40 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I loved this show although it close to boning when changing the vivs (same character, diffrent actors), Ashley went from cute down-to-earth to a complete bitch, and too many "A very special" with the druga s and will's dad. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on December 26, 2010, 10:59 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
The Season 4 Finale I think is when the show boned the fish. Originally this was scheduled by NBC to be the series finale, but they changed their mind after they and Will Smith received tons of mail to keep the show going. They did, but the last two seasons weren't as good. The ratings dropped considerably, a baby was added to the cast (never a good sign), Vivian changed, everyone was older, the Will/Lisa storyline was cheesy and the show was starting to show its age. I think Will returning home to Philly would have been a great way to wrap up the show, but it went two seasons too long afterwards. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on May 9, 2010, 3:21 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

I still watch it all the time on every channel including Disney XD. I love it! Even though Fresh Prince got to be Stale Prince after awhile. They ran outta stuff to do once the new Viv showed up and she became too careless. It was like the dark skinned Viv died and Phil replaced her with a lighter, less attentive Viv. Plus, with baby Nicky and Hilary trying to contact her dead fiance, Trevor...sorry but even a classic show like this definately boned the fish. -- Submitted By: (LauDor08) on November 9, 2009, 9:09 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
New Viv, definitely. "Your father's right, Ashley" were basically the only four words in her vocabulary. -- Submitted By: (ScottyB) on July 30, 2009, 7:49 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Definitely the changing of the Vivs. The old Viv was sassy without overdoing it, smart and had, for lack of a better word, spirit. The new Viv was a bit wooden and never could capture the spark of the old. It just wasn't believable that the new Viv and Phil could ever get married, let alone stay that way. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 9, 2009, 11:51 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It started boning around season 4, with all the changes, that took place. -- Submitted By: (FlxibleMetro9150) on May 10, 2009, 8:27 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
