TV Shows - Baby Blues
Baby Blues is a cartoon based on the comic strip of the same name by Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott. Though the cartoon was based on their creation, they had little creative control over it. The cartoon was different from the strip in that it focused on Darryl and Wanda's relationship with their neighbors, the Bittermans, rather than the raising of their baby daughter Zoe. It aired from July 28, 2000 to March 10, 2002.

I enjoy this comic strip. It's one of the few in the paper today that is still tolerable. However, the cartoon series was awful. Too Hollywoodized with crude jokes, cliches, and obvious Family Guy/Simpsons references. The show focused on the neighbors: a dumb father, a mother who's oblivious to the fact that her family is dysfunctional, a troublemaker son, a depressed daughter, and...a violently psychotic baby? Hmmm. Seems like they didn't know whether to rip off The Simpsons or Family Guy until someone jumped up and shouted "How about both?!" The comic's creators had little control over this.
