Max Kellerman was HORRIBLE. All I remember about this show was hearing him and Woody Paige scream at each other nonstop. Needless to say I stopped caring or watching after a couple of episodes and I only knew it was still on the air because it comes on right after Jim Rome and my DirecTV guide lists the shows so that it reads "Jim Rome Is Burning Around The Horn" which always gives me a chuckle. Then again I'm easily amused sometimes :-) -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on November 11, 2010, 12:03 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Thank god Mariotti is gone. Nothing more than a empty headed idiot who wouldn't know great journalism even if it slapped him across the face. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on November 10, 2010, 12:43 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Jay Mariotti was removed from the show due to his sexual assault charges. It makes the show much more tolerable. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on November 9, 2010, 3:35 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
i cant take this show. the current host is good, but the sports writers are SOOOOOO boring. how do they have careers in writing? it would take the whole newspaper to hear their opinions. -- Submitted By: (VeritechRyan) on October 19, 2010, 11:04 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
Originally I really liked Around the Horn when it was about geographical biases and had a good mix of sports reporters. I also thought Max Kellerman's version was more fast paced and had a better scoring system. When Stat Boy Tony Reali took over, the show lost some of its appeal. He's not a bad host, but sometimes he's too laid back and easy going for a show about competitive banter. Also the show relies too much on the same reporters over and over again (Jay Mariotti, Woody Paige) or uses ones that are too self-indulgent (Ugh J.A. Adande...) The whole geographical bias aspect has also been phased out over time, which is too bad. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on May 6, 2010, 1:57 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
A good setup, however, they have many problems, the main two being 1. Hosts. When Max Kellerman was host, he just did not seem like a good host at all, then with Tony Reali, his bias on certain sports shows horribly. 2. The panelists. There are certain panelists like Bob Ryan, Tim Cowlishaw, and Jackie MacMullan, who are great, but the idiots like Woody Paige, Jay Mariotti, and Bill Plaschke who seem to win all the time. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on February 24, 2010, 4:18 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
