1 Whilst their deaths were tragic, if that had not happened, who would've really remembered them, except for Buddy Holly who was already an accomplished singer and songwriter. The Big Bopper ("J. P." Richardson) would've been just another forgettable act from the doo-wop era, but that tragedy immortalized him. Valens probably would be remembered if he kept making records -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on July 17, 2013, 4:16 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 I wonder if he would have been as well known today had he not died alongside Buddy Holly. Nevertheless, despite his brevity, he was quite influential on Chicano music, including Los Lobos who did the soundtrack to La Bamba. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on June 28, 2013, 6:31 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 Ritchie Valens certainly had some great; timeless songs. I still listen to his music along with alot of others from that era. It just seems like there was more passion and soul behind the music. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on June 27, 2013, 10:16 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
4 If it weren't for the influence of Richie Valens, there would've never been Santana. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on February 22, 2010, 11:49 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
