Amanda Bearse (born August 9, 1958) is an American actress, director and comedian. She is known for her role as neighbor Marcy D'Arcy (formerly Marcy Rhoades) on Married... with Children, a sitcom that ran in the United States between 1987 and 1997, and for her performance in the 1985 horror film Fright Night.

She boned when a gay magazine outted her. She was always believable as the heterosexual Marcy Rhodes / D'Arcy on MWC before this, but after, she stopped TRYING to be. I'm not saying it's because she's gay that she can't play a straight. I'm saying that once everyone knew she more or less said "I give up!" and started looking more mannish by the episode. In the early seasons, Al would insult her and the viewer would think "he needs glasses". In the later ones, you rooted for him because she was begging for it by going around with man haircuts.
