Music Groups - Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1995. Singer and guitarist Dave Grohl formed the group as a one-man project after the dissolution of his previous band, Nirvana, in 1994. Prior to the release of the band's eponymous debut album in 1995, Grohl drafted Nate Mendel as bassist, William Goldsmith as drummer, and Pat Smear as guitarist to complete the group. The band was small, young, and they began with performances in Portland, Oregon before gaining popularity. Goldsmith left during the recording of the group's second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997), and Smear's departure followed soon afterward. They were replaced by Taylor Hawkins and Franz Stahl, respectively, although Stahl left prior to the recording of the group's third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999).

1 Not as cool as what they were named for. -- Submitted By: () on December 6, 2011, 9:21 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Foo Fighters are better than alot of bands these days. What I like about them the most is they don't take themselves too seriously. Dave Grohl has a good sense of humor. There are/were several videos on youtube where he's "covering" songs. "Stairway to Heaven", "Leather and lace" with Will Ferrell, and "Tiny Dancer" were kind of funny. I did not like the Foo Fighters version of "Have A Cigar" but I did enjoy "In The Flesh". They performed this with Roger Waters on Jimmy Fallon's show. What a treat that would have been. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on October 11, 2011, 9:27 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
3 I like this band for the reason that they are one of the few bands around that are a good old fashioned rock band. They aren't a whiny emo band or a boring soft rock band like Coldplay. Also, Wasting Light is one of the best rock albums I've heard in years. Keep it up Foo Fighters, we need more kick ass straight up rock in our music landscape. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on October 11, 2011, 11:21 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
4 It took years for this band to grow on me, but it finally did. I agree that Wasting Light is an outstanding album. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on May 15, 2011, 12:44 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
5 They definitely still rock. They kinda started to bone a little when There's Nothing Left to Lose came out with an overly poppy sound but luckily they didn't stick with that and aren't afraid to explore new ground as well as rock out hard. Wasting Light might be the band's best complete record ever. -- Submitted By: (MyWordIsGospel) on April 27, 2011, 3:49 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
6 Dave Grohl and company have been going strong since the death of Nirvana lead Kurt Cobain. In many ways, I think this is the best band I've heard him play in, although Nirvana rocks in a whole other direction. I also liked seeing him back on drums in Queens of the Stoneage, but they aren't near as good as the Foo Fighters. As Mr. T told them on Robot Chicken, "...better get out there and fight some Foo's!", I see them still fighting the good fight long into the future. -- Submitted By: (Shiddy_Smell) on April 6, 2010, 11:15 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
