TV Shows - Green Hornet,The

he Green Hornet is a fictional masked crime fighter. Originally created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker for an American radio program in the 1930s, the character has appeared in other media as well, including film serials in the 1940s, a network television program in the 1960s, and multiple comic book series from the 1940s to the 1990s. Though various incarnations sometimes change details, in most incarnations the Green Hornet is Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher by day who by night goes out in his masked "Green Hornet" identity to fight crime as a vigilante, accompanied by his similarly masked Asian manservant Kato and driving a car, equipped with advanced technology, called "Black Beauty". The Green Hornet is often portrayed as possessing fair to above average hand-to-hand combat skills and is often armed with a gun that sprays knock-out gas (a sonic blast weapon called the "Hornet's Sting" was added to his arsenal for the TV series).

1 This is the 1960s Bill Dozier "Batman" gone straightforward. -- Submitted By: (PokeyJHorse) on September 27, 2015, 2:27 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 The Green Hornet was unfortunately in the shadow of Batman in its one year on the air also it looked just as much of an UNTOUCHABLES ripoff as it was of BATMAN. Its dark nature along with Kato doing his thing made it appealing but both Van's and Bruce's guest appearances on BATMAN, along with the INVASION FROM OUTER SPACE episode on HORNET may have signal their boning. -- Submitted By: () on February 4, 2012, 5:09 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 Does anyone know if the new movie will have him somehow be related to the Lone Ranger like he was orginally? If so, that would be so COOL! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on August 26, 2011, 8:21 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
4 Never mind the movie, the original TV show was a true arse-kicking machine with Van Williams playing Britt Reed/Green Hornet and the late great martial artist Bruce Lee (in what was one of his 1st American TV exposures) did a superb job playing Kato. Unlike the campiness of the 1960s Batman TV series, Green Hornet had that much darker serious badass tone and IMO GH and Kato would've kicked Batman and Robin's arses. Plus, I also enjoyed their car the Black Beauty as well. -- Submitted By: (markiemark6891) on August 25, 2011, 5:52 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
