Parker, I think Mr. Cooper[whoever he may have been] died on impact and likely never got to spend any of that money [as evinced by the fact that the only bills known to have been from that hijacking were found clumped+rotted in a riverbank years after the fact]. However; all that aside if that absurdity HAD happened as per your scenario, it WOULD have made an entertaining episode on 'To Tell the Truth'! Loved the classic version [with Peggy Cass, Bill Cullen, Kitty Carlisle with Garry Moore emceeing ]but didn't think the revived version was worth bothering with. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on November 24, 2012, 2:44 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Yeah, I know Pelirojo. That was sorta the joke. Obviously a guy smart enough to get away with hijacking an airplane isn't going to be dumb enough to show up on "To Tell The Truth" just because he wants to be on TV. Besides, this will probably spawn a debate, but the real DB Cooper is probably dead or about 100 by now. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on November 19, 2012, 9:56 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Not a bad concept in theory, Parker but how would the producers have found the real Mr. Cooper and gotten him to have come on the show? Like mice trying to find a random stray cat to put a bell on its neck to see if that was the stray cat that ate the cream! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on July 3, 2012, 9:55 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I always thought this show would be a cool way to solve the D. B. Cooper mystery. How hard can it be? The guy who stands up at the end is him! -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on June 28, 2012, 2:42 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I agree with the above summation! Peggy Cass was loud alright but she was funny and actually had intelligent things to say. Then, we had Bill Cullen the Perpetual Nerd who encouraged every kid at home watching because we thought if HE could be on TV regularly, anyone could! Lastly, rounding it out was the Grande Dame Kitty Carlisle who was fun to watch because every so often Peggy, Bill and the host Garry could get her to let her guard down and show she had a mischievious side she tried hard to hide (and it helped her cred that she rode through the Marx Brothers' classic 'Night at the Opera' unscathed). Classic game show! But then they had to revive it with John O'Hurley hosting who seemed to think that being smarmy was the equivilant to being funny and intelligent. It wasn't. And they had to have that unfunny Paula Poundstone who seemed to never ask any real questions but kept wasting her,the contestants' and the other panelists' alloted time by making unfunny dumbcracks. Meschach Taylor was so unmemorable on this that I can't think of anything he said or did on this show- just that he was there. Not to mention that the contestants themselves seemed to be dumbed down a great deal from their classic counterparts. Why did they bother with this? -- Submitted By: () on March 29, 2009, 3:26 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
