Websites - BoneTheFish.com

Long story, short. TVGuide crushed a site that was near and dear to many viewers, and had us laughing daily. The powers that be at TV Guide decided: let's take a great community, a very interesting concept and a ton of valuable input and make it a redirect to a subdirectory of garbage that looks like a tabloid. That was the great demise of one of the greatest websites of all time, which unfortunately fell victim to its own namesake (which will not be named here, but we are sure you can figure it out)! We vowed to keep the spirit of "the site that shall never be named" alive in theme and spirit. That spirit was given a name in March of 2009- "Bone the Fish". This early time frame is when things can fall apart without the help of the fans - be it a movie series, tv show, celebrity or movie group. We value the opinions of our new fans and community, and we realize that people indeed want to vote on their favorite BTF moment. So take a minute, sign up for the new BTF revolution and comment and vote until your fingers are worn to the bone!

BoneTheFish.com Comments (You must Login to Comment)

IIRC, the early JTS had it where your post needed approval in order to be accepted. When TV Guide took over, they got rid of having to approve before the post was accepted, and what happened was it became easier to submit spam, flame, and troll posts. On BTF, the reason you now must login to vote is because, in the past, there was at least one person out there who had nothing better to do than spam votes all day for the reasons they liked best. The votes topped 1,000 in many cases, pushing legit topics off the Best of the Best listings! There were even troll/spam reasons cast. The BTF team worked hard to clean up that mess. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on April 25, 2010, 11:01 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I like the site but I find it annoying that the comments need "approval" before posted. I dont get whats the point of that. It kinda takes the fun away from posting comments. JTS never had that, in fact, you didnt have to be a member to post a comment. I miss the old JTS site but dont get me wrong, this site is still good. But if they get rid of those minor inconveniences, then this site will be more enjoyable for everyone. -- Submitted By: (Rape_Factory) on April 25, 2010, 1:11 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

I think Swanpride's point is that BTF should not become a hate site for celebrities. We already saw what happened when it became a politcal hate site and a political war zone. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on March 11, 2010, 1:09 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Yeah, even though I love this new website, the whole "political battleground" trend has become quite tiring! I still encourage any topic to be added and commented upon! -- Submitted By: (SVN) on March 9, 2010, 1:56 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
There is a difference between bashing shows/TV-Characters and real people. It's one thing to say that one is a bad actor (or simply the wrong one for a show) but quite another one to say ie that an actress boned because she put on too much weight or an actor because he made a stupid comment on TV. I, for my part, feel distinctively uncomfortable with the "celebrity"-part of the site. -- Submitted By: (Swanpride) on March 7, 2010, 9:50 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Swan- wasnt "the site that shall not be named" always a site that bashed things for when they started to go downhill? I think with the elimination of the hate votes and political propaganda votes that were stacked and the new voting system that limits how much one IP can vote ovre a certain time will clean the site up. We wanted to open the site up to all things, not just TV shows, and so far, it seems to be going well on both ends- TV and otherwise, so keep on commenting! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on March 7, 2010, 4:10 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Joebagofdonuts has a point, nevertheless. I am beginning to think that including new topics was a mistake all along. The political topics, which only bring users at each other throats, are somewhat irritating, because really, they can't be worded it a way that it would be making sense for voting "never boned" or "day one", because political issues don't tend to be clear cut. Then there are the whole topics where people are judging celebrities. It's turning into a bashing site! You don't know them, so please, give them a break! But the part which make JTS big and which draws users here to BTF is going under more and more. -- Submitted By: (Swanpride) on March 6, 2010, 3:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I don't think the site has boned yet. I'm so glad the vote stacking's been fixed, but I miss the old top navigation bar. It's not much of a problem because the new one takes on a more modern look and fades away. -- Submitted By: (MacFan95) on March 6, 2010, 8:51 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Joebagofdonuts- hate to disagree with you, but we spent hours clearing off the conservative and the liberal vote stacking, and the Dawn Lyn hate votes, and Porche DeRossi Hate votes. Also the voting has ben upgraded to prevent massive vote stacking and the political grandstanding votes. And as for Barack Obama being gold on the site, there seem to be mostly negative comments and votes for him, now that we got rid of the vote stacking on his page. So take a look around again before you declare the site boned when all of your complaints have been duly fixed, and the permanent solutions in place! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on March 6, 2010, 5:39 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I hate to say that Bone The Fish has boned but it has. Enough of this Dawn Lyn crap. Come on. Everything the poor girl has touched is that bad? Really? Every show she appeared on has boned the fish? Really? The site has also gottne too political. Don't we have enough political sites already? According the Bone The Fish anything Barack Obama touches turns to gold. Of course Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, etc... are all the devil. The purpose of the site is to talk about television shows, movies, celebrities, etc and have fun. The site isn't fun anymore. -- Submitted By: (JoeBagODonuts) on March 5, 2010, 7:10 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Almost one year old- and all of the Dawn Lyn and crazy vote stacking (was every liberal cause on here voted through the roof) and some goofy conservate causes that were stacked up are all gone. Now the voting is tied to an account we'll ee who can vote- lets hope the site gets better in eyar two! No more political and hate vote stacking! The "Best of the Best" category has some variety in it again- enjoy, and pass the slaw!! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on March 2, 2010, 4:49 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

My comment before the last was intended to be rhetorical, but I didn't want to not thank Hikariu for making a reason based on my comment, when I thanked Dolfan for having done the same. And the ballot stuffers? It wouldn't surprise me if the goal was (is?) to hijack the site so their opinions get top reasons. Probably members of political organizations with nothing better to do. As I said before, we're best off ignoring them. Since you've made it where only members can vote, the stuffing has been kept in check greatly. Bone the Fish STILL hasn't boned. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on February 20, 2010, 1:36 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
No Robert- you didnt inspire the reason for political post only users. Look around and you will find them easy enough! They are typically angry, have NO posts on anything but political topics, and are probably the ballot stuffers that have been shut down for the most part. Are these people trying to hijack the site? Could be, we'll see. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on February 20, 2010, 12:34 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Eek! I inspired another reason for BoneTheFish.com! Thanks. Anyhow, Chubby's right. Let's visit the TV shows/Movies listings and fry some hushpuppies there! And I don't mean the shoes... -- Submitted By: (Robert) on February 18, 2010, 11:14 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Im intrigued by the folks (there are a few) that come here and only post political stuff, and never anything on some of the old school TV shows and Movie series. Is BTF destined to become a purely political site? Lets hope not!! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on February 18, 2010, 11:01 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

So, who's gonna even this out by putting "Loud-Mouthed Democrats" as a BTF reason here? BTF has those, too, after all. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on February 18, 2010, 10:39 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
