Websites - BoneTheFish.com

Long story, short. TVGuide crushed a site that was near and dear to many viewers, and had us laughing daily. The powers that be at TV Guide decided: let's take a great community, a very interesting concept and a ton of valuable input and make it a redirect to a subdirectory of garbage that looks like a tabloid. That was the great demise of one of the greatest websites of all time, which unfortunately fell victim to its own namesake (which will not be named here, but we are sure you can figure it out)! We vowed to keep the spirit of "the site that shall never be named" alive in theme and spirit. That spirit was given a name in March of 2009- "Bone the Fish". This early time frame is when things can fall apart without the help of the fans - be it a movie series, tv show, celebrity or movie group. We value the opinions of our new fans and community, and we realize that people indeed want to vote on their favorite BTF moment. So take a minute, sign up for the new BTF revolution and comment and vote until your fingers are worn to the bone!

Let me throw my hat in the ring for the defense of Bone the Fish! I love Bone the Fish because every one is entitled to their opinion and that's what makes it great. I like the fact we can go on here, talk about movies, TV shows, music, celebrities, etc., state what we honestly think, and have spirited debate with others on the board. In short, that's what this website is, an opinion board. If we all just agreed and it was nothing but the village of the happy people, I, speaking for myself, would be bored stiff. And not everyone just rags on everything. There are plenty of topics with positive feedback as well. I like I can go here with and state how crazy Donald Trump, Woody Allen, and Angelina Jolie are and hear what other people have to say. I like that I can discuss with others on this board if Back the Future boned with Part III or not. I like that some of us disagree on when Van Halen boned: when Sammy joined, when Gary joined, or never. That's what makes this board fun. Sure, for a while the board leaned left and lately it has leaned right, but political biases will always factor into opinions as well. In the end, we're just a bunch of people from all over sharing our opinions with each other. What's wrong with that? -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on April 26, 2011, 1:28 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I think BTF >> JTS then and now. If you think the politics is bad here, you might not have visited JTS enough. People got really vicious if they felt you were of "the wrong party". For example, on the Family Guy page, some people criticized it for bashing religion, among other reasons. Seth's fans accused them of being pro-Bush/religious fanatics/Republicans, so they tore into them without mercy. Here, the disagreements are far more civil. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on April 26, 2011, 11:17 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Soggy- are you retarded? You are being subjected to opinions you don't like and dont like the site. Please- leave and go create your own website. People like you make me laugh, take a shower and wash the sand out of your pussy and stop whining like a boned fish. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 26, 2011, 4:31 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
First, why would anyone submit a topic here just to say it was perfectly fine? This is a site BASED on criticism, not on insisting something is great whether it is or not. Second, it's never a good idea on a site whose focus is on the expression of opinions to order people not to express certain opinions. That never ends well. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on April 25, 2011, 10:38 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
There is far too much politically-charged rhetoric here. In that respect JTS was superior because its narrow focus - on TV shows only - provided far fewer opportunities for politically-obsessed people to inject their political views into the conversation. I know some people here are just itching to tell us all what they think about the left or the right, even when doing so is only minimally related to the subject at hand. (As if there are not already TONS of sites, devoted to political debates and whatnot, which they can visit to feed their need.) But must the rest of us be subjected to those views, over and over and over again? Can't we take a break from the stupid Left vs Right War and just have fun here? And I'm sorry but people who submit a new subject just for the purpose of bashing it into the ground really do need to take a hard look at themselves. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on April 25, 2011, 8:56 pm - (-3 votes) - Login to Vote
Politicians, political parties and religions should DEFINITELY be here, otherwise it's just all about celebs and TV shows, and that would be too boring. I love how this site has expanded on the original concept that way. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on April 25, 2011, 7:12 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
There is going to be negativity on a website devoted to chronicling when something started to suck. Though I wonder if politicians, political parties, and religions (and animals) really should be here. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on April 24, 2011, 1:58 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote

Happy Birthday, BonetheFish. 2 years old already? Here come the terrible twos! :D Seriously, though, BTF has proven itself to be a great successor to the Scottish site, a Phoenix rising from the ashes that were once JTS. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on March 31, 2011, 8:33 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote

I voted "Never Boned", however I think TV Guide should be the patron saint of BTF, for obvious reasons. -- Submitted By: (TheTruth) on March 9, 2011, 2:46 pm - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
The Dawn Lyn thing was pure humour and something that was unplanned IMHO. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on March 8, 2011, 11:43 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
As for the Dawn Lyn thing- as I recall on - uhhh- That Other Site Whose Name Shall Not Be Mentioned- There was, in fact, a lot of DL bashing. And the thing was Dawn Lyn HERSELF actually responded to it on the 'My Three Sons' board there. I just always assumed, when I first discovered BTF and saw who the patron saint was, that THAT was the very reason why she was chosen here. I'm not saying the creators here were baiting her in hopes of a repeat performance, but I'm sure it was done out of pure humor considering the history there. Just my 2 cents. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 8, 2011, 9:38 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Yeah, what Robert said!!! :-) Actually, the Dawn Lyn hate made me uneasy the whole time but over the last 6-9 months it's died down to where anyone who joined during that time might not even be that aware of it. This site did have a few problems at first but IMO they've been worked out. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on March 6, 2011, 6:47 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I didn't vote for Dawn Lyn, I voted for Fred Freiberger (The guy that ruined Star Trek, The Six Million Dollar Man, and Space: 1999). That being said, there WAS plenty of Dawn Lyn-bashing on JTS and people did tend to believe she ruined My Three Sons. The Ted McGinley meme has really run its course; the man's long tenure on Married With Children proves he's not a show-killer. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on March 5, 2011, 2:04 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Bone the Fish still is a shrine to things which were good but turned bad. Most of us don't hate for the sake of hating. We praise shows which are still good and slam those which were either bad from the start, or started good then ended up boning. We call out writers who've gotten lazy in their work. Check out the Simpsons page, among others. Pinky and the Brain was great until they added Elmyra. Speaking of Dawn Lyn being patron saint, I feel there were lots of other people more worthy of that "honor". No, I'm not defending her, but there are worse people out there. Ted McGinley's sainthood was funny (since everyone knew his casting meant a show was on its way down). Dawn Lyn, however, is fairly obscure (I didn't even know she existed until BTF). And BTF is barely above a YouTube comment flame war? In our defense, what's said here is TAME compared to what people have said on JTS. Say the wrong thing there, and users would show no mercy to you for saying something they didn't agree with. Here, a vast majority of users are respectful of other people's opinions. And when it came to politics, people on JTS would take you down because you "stood up for the wrong party". Here, Democratic and Republican users (and those in between, like Independents) are treated as equals. However, debates do pop up when two people don't agree on something. At least it's never turned cutthroat. Last but not least, I think BTF is better than JTS ever was. But that's just me. Look past the Dawn Lyn stuff, and you'll see BTF is actually fun. Enjoy the site! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on March 5, 2011, 10:41 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
This site is supposed to be a shrine to things which WERE good but TURNED bad. It was a way to call out creative people who get lazy and should be doing better work. Dawn Lyn was never something that a show's producer said "ok, I've got an idea, we need something fresh, let's bring in Dawn Lyn." Dawn Lyn should be the Patron Saint of "People hating things that did nothing to warrant such violent attention." This site isn't supposed to be about hating anything you can just because you have a lot of hate. Where the previous site tried to find insightful and funny ways to criticize sloppy work, this site is barely above a YouTube comment flame war. Everybody attacking each other's politics, hating things just to hate them. The old site pointed out guys like Ted McGinley. This is a guy that's good looking, makes good money, and wasn't completely void of talent. Shows would run out of ideas and say "let's get McGinley in here, he might help out. He was a sign that a show had TURNED bad. And Dawn Lyn? When has she turned a show the wrong way? Never. More importantly, what's fun about mocking Dawn Lyn? She was a child actor who wasn't even particularly noteworthy at the time that played in a few shows that were never very good to begin with. She never ruined anything noteworthy, she was a sidenote to already bad shows. She was not the harbinger of creative doom that this site should have for its Patron Saint. To single her out is proof that BTF will never be as good as its predecessor until it changes its tone. -- Submitted By: (brett) on March 3, 2011, 11:26 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
