Websites - TMZ

TMZ.com is a celebrity news website which debuted in December 2005, and is a collaboration between AOL and Telepictures Productions, a division of Warner Bros. (all of which are owned by Time Warner). The letters TMZ stand for thirty-mile zone, referring to the "studio zone" within a thirty-mile (48.3 km) radius of the intersection of West Beverly Boulevard and North La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles. Shooting within this zone is considered local. Locations outside this zone are subject to mileage and travel time charges by the talent and crew. TMZ's managing editor is Harvey Levin, a lawyer-turned-journalist who got his start as a legal expert on LA's KCBS-TV. The site claims that it does not pay for stories or interviews. Levin also admitted that TMZ does "sometimes pay sources for leads on stories". Levin has stated that "[e]verything is researched and vetted for accuracy." A companion TV series, TMZ on TV, debuted on September 10, 2007.

Awful! That pretty much sums it up. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on October 1, 2011, 1:20 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It's OK, Soggy. Incontinent people don't choose to have the condition where they must wear diapers. It's these diaper fetishists who choose this path in life. I look forward to the day when celebrity gossip goes extinct. And Dolfan, that sucks. Losing Seinfeld but keeping TMZ? They should be charged with torture! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 11, 2011, 10:41 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Seinfeld used to run at 11:30/midnight on one of my local stations for about 16 years. This year they took it away but made sure to keep the precious TMZ right before it. Now I'm pissed >:-( -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on May 10, 2011, 7:05 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
TMZ - Tabloid Morons Zone -- Submitted By: (SSM) on May 10, 2011, 6:23 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Some fans of this garbage would argue otherwise. By the way, I meant no disrespect to those of our fellow citizens with incontinence issues, and I should have instead compared gossip journalism's ubiquity to something closer to its level of helpfulness to society. Meth, for example. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on May 10, 2011, 1:04 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Not a bad analogy, soggy- except that virtually all those wearing adult diapers do so out of necessity whereas NO ONE needs to buy into TMZ. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on May 10, 2011, 10:14 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
This is America, the birthplace of tabloid culture and lowest-common-denominator consumerism. There will always be a healthy market here for places like TMZ, just as there will always be a market for adult diapers. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on May 10, 2011, 12:58 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Absolute garbage. Who the hells cares what celebrities are doing??? Not only that, but the "reporters" act like freakin' high schoolers with their behavior. "Did you see the guy Kim Kardashian was with outside of the bar on Ventura?" Ugh, day one. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on December 5, 2010, 9:54 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I've seen this show once in a while in the day time and it seems to be alway sandwiched between two other good shows like for example when The Simpsons are on twice a day and inbetween is this crap. I guess this is suppposed to be somebody's idea of humor, but it looks likea bunch of college students trying to imitate Saturday Night Live. The tabloids supply them with material and they probably think of themselves as some new brand of misunderstood comics. I swear I cannot stand to be in the same room when this is on so it means having to change the channel until the next epsiode of the Simpsons comes on. It's just like watching a roomful of teenagers trying to be funny while the day's current events' play in the background. We're already sick of Bristol Palin and Britney Spears and so forth morons making fun of other morons. -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on December 5, 2010, 2:14 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
It's even worse now that the twatwaffles running TMZ have become celebrities themselves. Which of course was the whole point all along. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on March 4, 2010, 6:13 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
