TV Shows - Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory is an American situation comedy created and executive produced by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, which premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007.
It concerns two male prodigies in their twenties, one an experimental physicist (Leonard) and the other a theoretical physicist (Sheldon), who work at Caltech and live across the hall from a blonde waitress with show-biz aspirations (Penny).
Leonard and Sheldon's geekiness and intellect are contrasted with Penny's social skills and common sense for comedic effect. Two equally geeky friends of theirs, Howard and Rajesh, are also main characters. The show is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions.

One of the very few current shows that I watch nowadays. I got hooked once the show entered syndication plus I like the theme song. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on May 20, 2013, 12:30 am - (0 votes)

It was a mistake to show Mrs. Wolowitz on screen in season 6. -- Submitted By: (finnw) on May 17, 2013, 6:33 am - (0 votes)

Nothing about this show has ever sparked my interest enough to watch. I can't really give a fair opinion about it, other than that. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on May 9, 2013, 10:58 pm - (0 votes)

this show has never boned. The whole premise of the show is that the pretty girl across the hall is showing the two physicists a thing or two about life, and their worlds are growing & expanding. Don't believe me? Look on CBS's official website. If they did not add Amy and Bernadette, the show would've tanked and ended after season 3. You really want to see them play Halo and WoW and do the same things in every damn episode? Currently in season 6, almost everybody agrees that this season is the best one since season 2. And the ratings are unbelievable--even winning the evening viewer title during a rerun. And there is still a lot of science and nerdy stuff. Anyone who doesn't see that probably doesn't even watch the show anymore, or they're blind. They probably wouldn't be complaining if it was season 2. And it's not a laugh track it's a live audience too. I've been to a taping. -- Submitted By: (sprroch89) on May 8, 2013, 12:47 pm - (0 votes)

Any scripted show that can beat American Idol with a rerun can't be all that bad -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on May 4, 2013, 10:19 am - (1 votes)

They added girlfriends (Amy & Bernadette) and changed the show into a romcom to attract female viewers. It's worked in the ratings but it's not a unique show anymore. It's become "Friends". -- Submitted By: (davev) on April 24, 2013, 5:44 pm - (0 votes)

I watch this show, but I find the laugh track distracting. It's used way too much. -- Submitted By: (Bryan527) on June 25, 2012, 3:34 am - (1 votes)

I like the show overall, but I find it really irritating anytime they involve the character of Wolowitz' unseen but too often heard (loudly!) mom. She's just too ridiculously over the top to be real, and if someone is like her IRL it's just not funny. She's the kind of person I knocked over innocent bystanders yelling "gang way!" to avoid in my younger days. Meanwhile, Wolowitz brings chicks back to THAT HOUSE of all places for sex, more than once as if he can't seem to grasp what a bad idea that is (yet he's brilliant). Spring for a motel room you cheap fk! How could you NOT with a mom like that at home? -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on June 11, 2012, 11:38 am - (1 votes)

WHOA, does this show stink or what? Typical TBBT joke:
Sheldon: I'm watching some Star Trek right now
*laughs*
Sheldon: On an HD-TV
*even more laughs*
Sheldon: Too bad there aren't Klingon subtitles
*audience suffocates from too much laughter*
In a nutshell, there are no jokes, just nerdy references, sometimes even plain old references. THAT'S NOT HUMOR, NOR IS IT FUNNY IN ANY WAY. -- Submitted By: () on February 9, 2012, 12:34 am - (-1 votes)

Stephanie, you should've busted out your Miss Texas swimsuit, and if that hadn't gotten a reaction out of those guys then they might've been clinically dead. Just teasin' ;-) But when I think about it it's actually a good idea, hmmm... -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on January 19, 2012, 7:31 pm - (1 votes)

I've actually dated guys like the ones on this show and the portrayal is spot on! They are so damn logical about everything, there's no passion. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on January 18, 2012, 4:48 pm - (0 votes)

I've tried watching this show a few times. I have some engineering friends who love this show. I think it's okay, but then again I don't think I'm the demographic they're going after. After the hot girl started dating one of the nerds, I think it wasn't quite the same. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on January 18, 2012, 10:51 am - (1 votes)

I agree about the laugh track's overuse but still find the show amusing, probably because I'm a little of a science/sci-fi nerd myself. I was thinking though about what if actor Jonathan Harris(Dr. Smith from Lost in Space) were still alive and could guest star as a senior physicist. The banter with him and Jim Parsons(Sheldon) could have been epic. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 17, 2012, 3:14 pm - (3 votes)

I was forced to watch a few episodes at a friend's house (the one watching it guarded the TV jealously). They even use the Indian character cliche. I half expected him to go, "Thank you, come again!" The jokes are stupid, but there was one joke that could've been at least a little funny: One episode involved the idea of a toilet in space. The joke cracked was the he'll be "number one and number two in space". But then they ruin it: A character goes, "Oh, I get it, the idea to use numbers to denote bodily functions!" Did they really have to explain the joke? Anyone in the comedy business knows explaining a joke completely ruins it. Or are they so stupid they thought we wouldn't get it? Speaking of jokes, don't get me started on the canned laughter. The laugh tracks laugh at every joke, no matter how pathetic or lame they are. It reminded me of the Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns took over the TV because Homer wouldn't give Bobo back. On the TV, Burns enters the door and says to Smithers, "I'm home!" (Cue laugh track). Smithers says, "What, already?" (Cue laugh track again). Burns replies, "Yes!" (Cue laugh track yet again). -- Submitted By: (Robert) on January 14, 2012, 12:47 pm - (1 votes)

Was never really a funny show IMO. Sucked from the start. The overused laugh track and general inconsistencies don't help, either. -- Submitted By: () on January 11, 2012, 9:10 pm - (-2 votes)

I still enjoy Sheldon, especially when he has scenes with Penny, and the show was still entertaining even after Penny and Leonard got together--albeit not as much, but since the arrival of Amy and Bernadette, the show isn\'t as funny. It\'s only a half hour show, so in order to include everyone, the core group has less air time together and that has ruined that fun dynamic. I also don\'t like the idea of Sheldon having a \"girlfriend\", even though I like the Amy character---in small doses. I would prefer that Amy be on less often and that she not be paired romantically with Sheldon. He is much more fun as an asexual nerd. -- Submitted By: () on November 23, 2011, 11:41 am - (4 votes)

They wrote in two more female characters, i guess, to balance out the show (4 guys, 1 girl).. didn't really bother me though, and neither does the addition of the cast.. now if Sheldon and Amy eventually do it, then a bonafide BTF moment will have occurred -- Submitted By: () on November 7, 2011, 11:16 am - (3 votes)
