TV Shows - Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is an American situation comedy created and executive produced by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, which premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007. It concerns two male prodigies in their twenties, one an experimental physicist (Leonard) and the other a theoretical physicist (Sheldon), who work at Caltech and live across the hall from a blonde waitress with show-biz aspirations (Penny). Leonard and Sheldon's geekiness and intellect are contrasted with Penny's social skills and common sense for comedic effect. Two equally geeky friends of theirs, Howard and Rajesh, are also main characters. The show is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions.

I have seen a few episode of this show. It harks back to the days of old cheesy laugh-track comedies in the day. The catch here is that they are supposed to be smart and cool-nerdy, as opposed to low-brow laugh-track of say, Night Court. Some laughs, but nothing ground breaking. -- Submitted By: (Englebert) on June 14, 2014, 12:14 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Great show. I understand that some people just don't get it but that's ok, you either get the show and love it or totally miss the comedy and hate it. Sheldon and the boys have made it cool to be a science nerd again! -- Submitted By: (martymarty) on June 7, 2014, 11:02 am - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
So, is the Indian dude gay or what? He never has a gf and that Lucy chick was beyond creepy. Last season they gave him a little poofy dog and he just keeps getting more and more gay, which is fine as long as they let him be gay and stop pretending he's str8 which he obviously isn't. I think he should date Stuart, the comic book guy, those two really seem to like hanging out with each other. Oh, and Leonard is a total loser. My fav characters are Bernadette, Amy and Sheldon. -- Submitted By: (sharp143) on October 4, 2013, 12:35 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
About a month ago I started watching this show. (there was nothing else on) I can actually say, for what I've seen so far, that I do like it. I'm watching it mostly in syndication, so it jumps around a lot. One show will have only the central characters, while the other has Amy and Bernadette. But it hasn't been all that difficult to figure out. Sheldon is a great character on the show. As said in another topic he's an awkward; socially inept but smartest in the room character. Which I've always liked those kinds of characters. I'm often disappointed when he loses, and the couple of episodes Ive watched with Sara Gilbert irritate me. lol -- Submitted By: (Jp) on August 18, 2013, 10:40 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
Maybe the series is good and I'm just nitpicking but the canned laughter makes it unbearable for me. It's more or less like they suppose the audience is so god damned dull that they have to place bigh flashy signs whenever a "joke" happens so you don't forget to laugh - even pausing the dialogue so your rotting brain can have enough time to process the genius behind the NERD HUMOR. -- Submitted By: (Saunich) on August 18, 2013, 5:12 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Awesome show! At first I didn't like the addition of the new girls, Amy and Benadette, but now love them and think they add an incredible dimension to the main characters. I loath Lucy and for Raj's sake, I hope she is gone for good. The boys still remain boys, although they must all be around 40, and will apparently never grow up, good for them. This show is remarkable for a few things, reviving the career of the very funny Johnny Galecki, launching Kaley Cuoco into the stratosphere, and the discovery of one of the most talented comedic actors of our time, Jim Parsons. Will Wheaton as the recurring nemesis to Sheldon is hilarious and proves Will is not above poking fun at himself AND Wesley Crusher. BTW, to the person who hates the laugh track, the show does not use one! It is filmed before a live audience and the laughs you hear are genuine. -- Submitted By: (jmac9909) on July 11, 2013, 10:14 am - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
One of the very few current shows that I watch nowadays. I got hooked once the show entered syndication plus I like the theme song. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on May 20, 2013, 12:30 am - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
It was a mistake to show Mrs. Wolowitz on screen in season 6. -- Submitted By: (finnw) on May 17, 2013, 6:33 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Nothing about this show has ever sparked my interest enough to watch. I can't really give a fair opinion about it, other than that. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on May 9, 2013, 10:58 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
this show has never boned. The whole premise of the show is that the pretty girl across the hall is showing the two physicists a thing or two about life, and their worlds are growing & expanding. Don't believe me? Look on CBS's official website. If they did not add Amy and Bernadette, the show would've tanked and ended after season 3. You really want to see them play Halo and WoW and do the same things in every damn episode? Currently in season 6, almost everybody agrees that this season is the best one since season 2. And the ratings are unbelievable--even winning the evening viewer title during a rerun. And there is still a lot of science and nerdy stuff. Anyone who doesn't see that probably doesn't even watch the show anymore, or they're blind. They probably wouldn't be complaining if it was season 2. And it's not a laugh track it's a live audience too. I've been to a taping. -- Submitted By: (sprroch89) on May 8, 2013, 12:47 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Any scripted show that can beat American Idol with a rerun can't be all that bad -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on May 4, 2013, 10:19 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
They added girlfriends (Amy & Bernadette) and changed the show into a romcom to attract female viewers. It's worked in the ratings but it's not a unique show anymore. It's become "Friends". -- Submitted By: (davev) on April 24, 2013, 5:44 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
I watch this show, but I find the laugh track distracting. It's used way too much. -- Submitted By: (Bryan527) on June 25, 2012, 3:34 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I like the show overall, but I find it really irritating anytime they involve the character of Wolowitz' unseen but too often heard (loudly!) mom. She's just too ridiculously over the top to be real, and if someone is like her IRL it's just not funny. She's the kind of person I knocked over innocent bystanders yelling "gang way!" to avoid in my younger days. Meanwhile, Wolowitz brings chicks back to THAT HOUSE of all places for sex, more than once as if he can't seem to grasp what a bad idea that is (yet he's brilliant). Spring for a motel room you cheap fk! How could you NOT with a mom like that at home? -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on June 11, 2012, 11:38 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
WHOA, does this show stink or what? Typical TBBT joke: Sheldon: I'm watching some Star Trek right now *laughs* Sheldon: On an HD-TV *even more laughs* Sheldon: Too bad there aren't Klingon subtitles *audience suffocates from too much laughter* In a nutshell, there are no jokes, just nerdy references, sometimes even plain old references. THAT'S NOT HUMOR, NOR IS IT FUNNY IN ANY WAY. -- Submitted By: () on February 9, 2012, 12:34 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

Stephanie, you should've busted out your Miss Texas swimsuit, and if that hadn't gotten a reaction out of those guys then they might've been clinically dead. Just teasin' ;-) But when I think about it it's actually a good idea, hmmm... -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on January 19, 2012, 7:31 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I've actually dated guys like the ones on this show and the portrayal is spot on! They are so damn logical about everything, there's no passion. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on January 18, 2012, 4:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I've tried watching this show a few times. I have some engineering friends who love this show. I think it's okay, but then again I don't think I'm the demographic they're going after. After the hot girl started dating one of the nerds, I think it wasn't quite the same. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on January 18, 2012, 10:51 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I agree about the laugh track's overuse but still find the show amusing, probably because I'm a little of a science/sci-fi nerd myself. I was thinking though about what if actor Jonathan Harris(Dr. Smith from Lost in Space) were still alive and could guest star as a senior physicist. The banter with him and Jim Parsons(Sheldon) could have been epic. -- Submitted By: (JamesO) on January 17, 2012, 3:14 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
