Music Groups - Doors, The

The Doors was an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California by vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore, and guitarist Robby Krieger. They were considered a controversial and influential band, due mostly to Morrison's cryptic lyrics and unpredictable stage persona. After Morrison's death, the remaining members continued as a threesome until disbanding in 1973.Despite a career that barely totaled eight years, The Doors still enjoy a huge cult following as well as status in the mainstream music industry as being hugely influential and original. According to the RIAA, they have sold over 32.5 million albums in the US alone

Doors, The Comments (You must Login to Comment)

1 They boned when they decided to continue on without Jim Morrison, following his departure after L.A. Woman. I believe at least one of the two albums they did without him was while he was still living. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on July 23, 2012, 10:40 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Pelirojo, sorry i didn't see you comment before. There are SO many stories regarding Jim Morrison, it's hard, for me at least, to believe any of them. I watched something awhile back that was suggesting that Morrison hated and made it clear to say DID NOT do drugs. Now, I don't believe that one at all. He may have hated drugs, getting sucked into it and essentially addicted but I don't buy for a second he didn't do drugs. There are just SO much conspiracy theories surrounding his life and death that I just don't buy into the hype of it. I just enjoy his music and sometimes wonder what The Doors would have produced had he not died. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on December 23, 2011, 12:42 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 Jp, Depending on which acquaintance one hears from, it seems that Morrison was somewhat on the verge of getting out of the music business and had cut most if not all his ties to the music industry before his [un?]timely death at age 27. Yeah, the music itself stands above other songs from this time [ especially like their rendition of the 1920's Berlin standard 'Whisky Song'- which has the most ludicrous pronunciation of Alabama out there]. However; from all I've heard about Morrison, he seems as though he'd have been a nightmare to have been around if one had been acquainted with him longer than five minutes- regardless of his musical talent. Here's hoping he somehow found his peace. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 5, 2011, 2:40 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
4 Not necessarily Dolfan, Grace Slick retired and you don't hear much (musically) from her. Maybe Morrison would have done the same. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on October 4, 2011, 7:23 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
5 Maybe Morrison's early death was for the best. Can you imagine he and the erst of the band making a comeback tour in their 60s? I think Morrison would actually be pushing 70 now! It would be a train wreck. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on October 4, 2011, 5:00 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
6 The city of Miami grants a full pardon 40 years too late. The whole incident is a fraud. -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on October 4, 2011, 12:55 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
7 I love the Doors. I can play their old albums over and over again and never get tired of them. Never boned. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on October 3, 2011, 10:31 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
8 The Doors were a great band. It's too bad he died, so young. I'm not picking that as the reason. I'm just saying, it's too bad. I would have liked to have heard more from them. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on October 3, 2011, 6:35 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
9 Lucky for them that people forget those albums they did after Morrison kicked. Boned and then un-boned by time. -- Submitted By: (CharlesKim) on April 13, 2010, 5:47 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
