FUNimation Entertainment is an entertainment and dubbing company. Founded in 1994 by Gen Fukunaga, FUNimation rose to prominence when it acquired the rights to the Dragon Ball franchise. FUNimation was acquired by Navarre Corporation on May 11, 2005. In 2005, they became more aggressive with protecting their properties and sent "cease and desists" against sites offering links to fansubs of their titles.
