Random Topics - Cigarettes

A cigarette is a product consumed through smoking and manufactured out of cured and finely cut tobacco leaves and reconstituted tobacco, often combined with other additives, then rolled or stuffed into a paper-wrapped cylinder (generally less than 4 3/4" in length and 3/8" in diameter). The cigarette is ignited at one end and allowed to smoulder for the purpose of inhalation of its smoke from the other (usually filtered) end, which is inserted in the mouth.

Agreed on Shanequia, I too love reading stuff on her profile, wonder what became of her? -- Submitted By: (PokeyJHorse) on April 16, 2015, 1:21 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Funny comment, Shanequia. And, no, you don't sound "beyond dumb" - you definitely sound "beyond clever". I enjoyed reading all the comments on your profile. -- Submitted By: (hbrennan) on June 20, 2012, 12:32 am - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
They used to advertise cigarette commercials on TV. One ad had a commentator tell a crowd "Show Us Your Larks!" Back in the 60s, it was common to see people smoke on TV. These days, no one smokes on TV. Too bad it isn't like this in real life. I risk getting second hand smoke disease everytime I walk the city streets where people are puffing away. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on February 6, 2012, 12:41 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
When the price went to $5 a pack in order to discourage people from smoking. Obviously no comment -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on September 6, 2011, 3:38 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Cigarettes are a gross, expensive habit. Smoking has many bad side effects (yellow teeth, wrinkles, cancer, etc.) that have been well documented, so I won't go into them. Even the whole smoking a cigar every once in a while thing is gross. I think cigars are worse than cigarettes. You can put lipstick on a donkey, but it's still a donkey, if you know what I mean... At the same time, if a business wants to allow smoking, it should be able to do that. I understand certain smoking bans (the workplace, airplanes) as second-hand smoke sucks, but private businesses should be allowed the freedom to make that call, but that's the Libertarian inside of me talking. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on May 23, 2011, 6:58 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
And it's a very nice dream too. Public displays of obnoxiousness bother me vastly more than cigarette smoke. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on May 23, 2011, 12:34 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
If only society treated immature douchebag behavior the same way it treats smokers. (Sighs.) What can I say, it's a dream of mine. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on May 22, 2011, 6:23 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
"Hey, you, the one blowing smoke in my face and tossing cigarette butts on my lawn! How many butts have you tossed on my lawn?!" "Uh...I forget." "I'll tell you: FORE!" *whacks the inconsiderate guy in the head with an iron* -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 21, 2011, 11:10 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm not into anti-smoking nazism by any stretch, but I would appreciate it if more smokers had the sense not to blow their toxins in my face or toss their butts on my lawn. One of these days I might just have to take a golf club to one of them (and I'm not talking about a putter). -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on May 20, 2011, 3:43 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Wow PYLrulz, that's a huge leap in a rather short period of time! I remember when I would moan about a pack reaching $2+, but that was over 15 years ago. My dad is 58 and currently pondering retirement. A part of his decision making process is that if he were to retire, he'd have a tougher time affording his nearly 3-pack/day habit! Dang, cigarettes really shouldn't impact one's opportunity to retire! -- Submitted By: (Nature_Boy) on March 3, 2010, 3:04 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Nature Boy. In my state, PA. When I quit at a convenience store I worked at 5 years ago, the cheapest Cigs there were about 2.50 a pack. Now, when I stopped by a convenience store, cheapest Cigs were about 5 bucks. Thank god I never smoked. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on March 3, 2010, 4:35 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm so glad I quit smoking when I did, because there's simply no way I could afford to do so now. $55/carton in my state. -- Submitted By: (Nature_Boy) on March 2, 2010, 9:44 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
shanequia, I'm flattered that you think my spelling's smokin'! Anyway, I think your insights to so many of these topics are rather intriguing! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on September 22, 2009, 9:56 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
That was no mistake Pelirojo you just learn to be spelling from me. Ha Ha Thanks to you I have been trying better to spell and capitolize words. My early postings look like I am beyond dumb. I get to typing fast and never go back and correct. Now as for the rest of you PUT THE CIGARETTE DOWN. IT NASTY. -- Submitted By: (shanequia) on September 21, 2009, 4:37 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Cigar smoke makes cigarette smoke smell like a spritz of Febreze in comparison. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on September 21, 2009, 12:21 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I meant to type my mother QUIT (with no 'e on the end') smoking ages ago. Well, at least I can't blame my typos on smoking! LOL -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on September 21, 2009, 7:18 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I think, there are three major points against smoking: 1. I admit, I am smoking myself from time to time...normally one (rarely two) times a year, normally at some party (normally New Year, as last "sin" in the old Year). But I am the exeception. Cigarettes are very addictive (similiar to heroin), and most people are not able to control the consum. I don't understand how people are readily giving up control over her lives. 2. Yes, there are other habits which are really unhealthy. If someone wants to live unhealthy, it is basically their own problem. But cigarettes are not only unhealthy for the smoker, they are unhealthy for everyone around him. 3. I don't understand how people can think that smoking is cool. It stinks (especially cold smoke), it leaves yellow strains on teeth and fingers, it makes premature wrinkles and it kills you sooner or later. I get people who simply enjoy a cigarette, cigar or a pipe from time to time (means: rarely and purely for enjoyment, not to feed the own addiction), but I don'T understand people who think that they should smoke because it is cool. -- Submitted By: (Swanpride) on September 21, 2009, 6:52 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Excellent points, shaenequia. And, every woman who reads this should also know (in addition to what it does to the lungs, heart, etc), it makes wrinkles come a LOT faster. My aunt looks about 10 years older than my mother despite being a few years younger due to her smoking while my mother quite ages ago! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on September 20, 2009, 6:56 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Smoking nasty, it stick to your hair and clothes too so dont be thinking you getting away with sneaking outside for a cigarette and telling everybody you quit. -- Submitted By: (shanequia) on September 20, 2009, 9:41 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
OK, I agree: smoking is an unhealthy habit. But then, so are 50 million other things people partake in on a daily basis. So has "smoking cigarettes", in and of itself BTS? No way. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on September 15, 2009, 11:34 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
