TV Shows - Schoolhouse Rock!

Schoolhouse Rock! was an American series of animated musical educational short films that aired during the Saturday morning children's programming on the U.S. television network ABC. The topics covered included grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics. The series produced original episodes between 1973 and 1986 (with 37 episodes created between 1973 and 1980, and four created as the "Computer Rock" segment between 1983 and 1984), with a return in 1993 and new episodes airing at least once a year between then and 1996, when production of the series for ABC was halted. Episodes continued to air for an additional five years after that, finally coming to an end after a 26-year run cancellation in 1999 by ABC.

1 Hmmmmm. Is "The Metric System" a category? Nah! -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on June 26, 2012, 10:17 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 The original 1970's episodes never boned, never saw any of the later ones. Thank "I'm just a Bill" for my having at least some idea of how a law gets through Congress. "Interplanet Janet" was a good one too. -- Submitted By: (John63btf) on December 14, 2011, 1:42 pm - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
3 It was educational. It was fun. It was loved by viewers. Did the planets align just right when it came to Schoolhouse Rock, or what? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 10, 2010, 1:08 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
4 This was such a good thing to have on TV. Kids are so ignorant nowadays. Did anyone ever see the spoof of it on The Simpsons. Hilarious! -- Submitted By: (MCS) on May 7, 2010, 8:39 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
5 Stephanie, I know lots of folks who know the Preamble ONLY from this show. One friend told me that someone started humming it during a Civics test and soon the whole room was humming -and the teacher let them pass but said next time they hummed a tune from the series, she'd consider it cheating! Guess she was mad that the series TAUGHT the kids what her dry teaching methods had failed to do! Oh, I REALLY liked how they did funny satires on historical events (even if it was somewhat simplified and not always completely accurate)! I feel bad for today's kids who don't get the chance to LEARN so much from these spots but instead get to learn all the words to Hannah Montana songs via osmosis with endless promos! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 17, 2009, 11:35 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
6 "Conjunction junction...what's your function?" and "Lolly lolly lolly get your adverbs here" will forever be stuck in my head until I'm old and gray. In 5th grade, I memorized the Preamble to the Constitution from this show. Seriously. Got an A on the test. Schoolhouse Rock, rocks! -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on October 16, 2009, 3:35 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
