Music Groups - Yardbirds, The

A 1960's blues-based group in England, notable for introducing the world to three of the greatest rock guitarists in history: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. By the late 60's, Clapton and Beck had moved on and Page took over on lead guitar. By the time the band "disbanded", Page owned the rights to the name "The Yardbirds". He then formed another band, who intially performed under the name "The New Yardbirds" but later chose another name. You may have heard of them: Led Zeppelin.
