Random Topics - Golden Raspberry Awards/The Razzies

The Golden Raspberry Awards, which are popularly nicknamed the Razzies, are awards which counterpoint the Academy Awards by dishonoring (or honoring) the worst acting, screenwriting, songwriting, directing, and films that the film industry had to offer. The name comes from the term "blowing a raspberry." The Razzie award is a plastic raspberry and roll of film spray-painted gold and mounted on a plastic base.

Other than the aforementioned Bush Bashing that seemed to be popular at the time, the Razzies usually delivers. Plus from time to time, you can actually see what actors and actresses who don't take themselves so seriously pop up. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on January 20, 2013, 1:34 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

I checked the forums over at Razzies.com - Friedberg and Seltzer got nominations in the following categories: Worst Picture (Meet the Spartans & Disaster Movie, lost to Love Guru); Worst Supporting Actress (Kim Kardashian, lost to Paris Hilton); Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel (MTS & Disaster Movie, lost to Indiana Jones & Kingdom of Crystal Skull); Worst Director (lost to Uwe Boll); and Worst Screenplay (lost to Love Guru). -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on July 11, 2010, 7:15 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Another category that Friedberg and Seltzer were nominated in was "Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off, or Sequel" (a category that I thought for sure they'd win), but lost that nomination to Indiana Jones 4. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on July 11, 2010, 4:42 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
@Robert - Friedberg and Seltzer were nominated quite a few times in '09, but didn't win one. I recall they lost Worst Picture to Love Guru, and I'm certain they lost Worst Director to Uwe Boll that year. I don't remember which other ones they were nominated for or who won it instead of them. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on July 2, 2010, 7:22 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It's a surprise that Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer didn't sweep the Razzies, but they didn't even win ONE nomination? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on July 1, 2010, 7:18 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
A great way to point out who did the worst in the past year. Last year, for example, although Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (the no-talent hacks behind Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Disaster Movie) were nominated for quite a few Razzies for the last two examples I listed - they didn't win. Still, though, I haven't heard a peep out of those two - guess they finally realized they can't write or direct their way out of a wet paper bag. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on June 29, 2010, 10:31 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
This counter to those rigged Academy Awards is more entertaining. And funnier, too! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on August 7, 2009, 11:49 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I love the razzies. Hollywood (and the Academy Awards) are too full of hot air, and it's nice to see someone spoof the whole process. -- Submitted By: (Eugene) on August 4, 2009, 6:18 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
