Around the time of the "Kilroy" album, Dennis DeYoung caught the acting bug. Not only was this bad enough, but he dragooned the rest of the band into acting little vignettes during the tour of same album. -- Submitted By: (John63btf) on December 22, 2012, 6:34 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I thought they were great right up until "The Best of Times" (Paradise Theater), but when they did "Kiljoy Was Here" and Dennis DeYoung decided "the dad look" was in, they boned. It only got worse from there with various egocentric in-fighting, illness and death. R.I.P. John Panozzo. G.W.S. 3 I've always been into the edgier bands from back in the day. However, lately my musical tastes have been changing a bit. But even still, I never really could get into Styx. I hear some of their stuff on the radio but I lose interest. The only thing I'll give them credit for is providing Trey Parker and Matt Stone a nice little gag for Cartman. This also holds true for Asia's Heat of The Moment. LoL -- Submitted By: (Jp) on September 27, 2011, 11:50 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
I don't disagree with you, kingbk. However; I've often thought how 'Mr. Roboto' could have been used as a theme for the original 'Star Wars' trilogy. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on September 27, 2011, 1:49 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
When the band went from blue collared hard rock and touching ballads in the 70s to cheesy, silly fantasy/theatrical songs in the 80s. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on September 27, 2011, 12:15 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
When a band becomes a tribute it is time to hang it up. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on February 18, 2010, 11:20 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Styx is almost a tribute band of sorts. The only original member left is James Young. They still sound okay I guess. -- Submitted By: (diezman) on November 18, 2009, 10:08 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
"Kilroy Was Here" was the death knell for the band, but "Just Get Through This Night" was the best song on the album and classic Styx. -- Submitted By: (BrewMaster) on July 11, 2009, 10:55 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Mr. Roboto was a great song. And it's Domo Arigato. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on May 23, 2009, 12:31 am - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
