Boy Meets World Comments (You must Login to Comment)

I've watched a lot of sitcoms from beginning to end, and they all have minor continuity errors. Though, the goods ones' errors are minor enough to be forgettable... To say this show has continuity errors is to start from the faulty premise that it has a continuity to begin with. Every episode retconned the characters' past into what was convenient in the moment. The only difference between the continuity of this show and shows like SNL and Drawn Together is that the others didn't pretend to have a continuity. This one does. And that is where it fails. -- Submitted By: (TheCeej) on July 5, 2013, 1:33 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
So...there is going to be a spin off to this show. "Girl Meets World" It's about Cory and Topanga's kids. Sounds like it'll have similar tones that the original did. It supposed to air on Disney Channel, so it'll probably be a cheesy tuna melt. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on May 17, 2013, 9:13 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I used to watch this show when I was a kid. Of course I was young at the time, and in those days it was sometimes harder to notice the changes that were made to shows. Since there was no internet, we were pretty much limited to watching one-off re-runs here and there. Now almost 20 years after this show's debut I decided to check back at some of my favorite episodes on Youtube. The first thing that struck me was how drastically the show changed from season to season. The changes are more significant than the average show. It bounced around from being carefree, to feel good, to tragic, to touching. All in all I'd place Boy Meets World in the "generic 90's sit-com" category, but that being said it's still one of the better shows of that caliber. -- Submitted By: (brightsideofthemoon) on August 8, 2012, 1:11 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Oh! how funny? I forgot about this show! I use to watch this, basically because of Topanga. (woof, aging hasn't worked out for her like it has elder Savage's tv girlfriend, Winnie Cooper.) I will admit when they were in Jr. High, the show was better. The High School years were tolerable. But the College years, not even close to being worth watching. Does anyone else remember Ethan Suplee on this show? He's had a pretty decent career since. The only one of the "kids" that has. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on August 25, 2011, 8:02 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Caught a few reruns... wow my taste in TV was poor as a kid. This show was so cheesy and bad. I can't believe I liked it so much as a kid. I have to admit the earlier episodes were better. I especially liked it better when Shawn was the goof ball and comic relief. They later switch it so Eric becomes the comic relief and Shawn becomes this seriously affected teenager. I didn't like the show as much once this switch was made. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on August 25, 2011, 5:09 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I like the earlier episodes better when they were little kids, it was lot funnier then. I dread the "college years" because that's when it start take itself too seriously. Like Topanega almost got sexually abuse by her professor, Shawn goes all emo and compained non-stop about how poor his family was or how his Dad left them, etc. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on April 7, 2011, 9:43 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Cory's personality got really annoying. He became such a pathetic, whiny, neurotic, arogant little bastard. -- Submitted By: (Mr.Zimpy) on January 20, 2011, 5:44 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Oh so many reasons this show boned. 1.) Eric went from intelligent ladies man to really stupid idiot. 2.) Topanga went from hippie, new age chick to rich, valley girl. 3.) Morgan went from sweet little sister to sarcastic smart ass. 4.) Minkus and other characters disappeared. 5.) Shawn went from comic relief to seriously affected. 6.) Feeney follows them EVERYWHERE. 7.) Corey becomes really neurotic. 8.) The show got too serious. 9.) Continuity errors (Shawn had a sister, then he doesn't, Corey didn't like Topanga until they were teenagers, but they are shown as life-long best friends, etc.) 10.) Miraculous aging of all of the characters. There are more I'm sure I missed, but you get the idea. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on May 6, 2010, 11:14 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
I think the show had very difficult footing a lot of the time. I think it became a lot of different opinions being thrown into one narrative. Eric used to be very intelligent. Then I feel like someone said, "Oh, it was really funny when Eric acted really stupid here..." so as the series progressed they had to make him dumber and dumber for the laughs they were getting. They had this sort of odd best friend for Cory, a kid from a broken home, something you don't often see on television, and then for a while, to capitalize on this "genius" character, they made Shawn really angry and angsty and it was too much too often. Everyone really loved Feeny and so everyone thought, well, he's a teacher so he can just teach. For some reason, being a grade school principal qualifies him to teach college level...English? I can't even remember what he taught! Haha...Anyway, the was variously inconsistent considering how shorts run actually was. I can understand huge missteps in a long-running show like Simpsons, but Boy Meets World? Eh. It was funny early on, then it just got ridiculous. -- Submitted By: (SamuraiPanda201) on July 21, 2009, 12:43 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I personally hated when they made Eric stupid well actually they made Cory and Eric stupid that's the point when the show lost me. -- Submitted By: (xgracexnotesx) on June 5, 2009, 10:22 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
This show never really jumped, it had some low points but the show was consistently good throughout it's run personally I'd like to see a reunion episode. -- Submitted By: (gpshaw) on April 7, 2009, 10:45 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
