Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson, AO (born January 3, 1956) is an Australian-American actor, film director, film producer and screenwriter. Born in New York, Gibson moved to Sydney, Australia when he was 12 years old and later studied acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art. After appearing in the Mad Max and Lethal Weapon series, Gibson went on to direct and star in the Academy Award-winning Braveheart. Gibson's direction of Braveheart made him the sixth actor-turned-filmmaker to receive an Oscar for Best Director. In 2004, he directed and produced The Passion of the Christ, a controversial but successful film that portrayed the last hours of the life of Jesus Christ.

The guy has a whole slew of problems. He's an alcoholic, brainwashed by religion, cheated on his wife, has anger management issues, and has a whole lot of hatred and bigotry underneath him. When I watched The Passion of the Christ, I saw it as a big F you to Jews. As much as I dislike the content of Gibson's rants and the fact that he said what he said in front of a target's own minor child , I'm not entirely sympathetic to Mr. Esterhaus here due to him recording then broadcasting what Gibson said in his OWN home. Yeah, Gibson was wrong in what he said and who he said it front of but IMO it also was wrong to tape a friend's comments said in his own home then broadcast when the deal went sour.
