@ChubbyRain (3/25/09): Actually, I think that NPH's playing a womanizer on the show while being gay in real life speaks well of his acting ability. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on July 20, 2015, 8:00 am - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
JustLooking, you answered your won question. These days nobody can get into acting WITHOUT those qualities, at least from what I've seen. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on July 19, 2015, 1:31 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Neil Patrick Harris ... how this obnoxious pompous irritating guy ever got an acting job is beyond me. -- Submitted By: (JustLooking) on July 2, 2015, 12:44 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
So the final season takes 21 episodes to show us a Robin Barney wedding weekend, where we see the "mother" for about 15 minutes total, and nothing happens in most episodes. The hour finale has them divorced in 10 minutes, Barney is just the same old dope he has always been, Ted's new love of his life just dies offscreen, and they reveal that he is telling his kids this story to get their permission to bang, er date, Aunt Robin, then like a stalker he goes to her apartment with a blue trombone. Get out the fillet knives, this one makes the end of the Sopranos seem like a masterpiece. And Barney has a baby with a woman that they dont ever show, and now he cares, about people. BONED. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on March 31, 2014, 10:45 pm - (11 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm surprised how well the show has held up for me. It is dragging out the premise a bit, but assuming they wrap it up well in the next season and a half it could remain never boned to they end. That may be too many episodes and introducing the mother too soon could kill it too. If they go beyond a ninth season it is sure to get boned. I actually like the trajectory of the Barney character. He showed plenty of signs of having a heart of gold from the beginning and the transformation has been believable. In many ways the show is less about Ted and more about Barney. -- Submitted By: (moloko5) on January 5, 2013, 9:14 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Why can't a gay actor play a straight playboy? How often do straight actors play great gay characters? It's called "acting" for a reason. -- Submitted By: (moloko5) on January 5, 2013, 9:07 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I don't give a crap that Neil Patrick Harris is gay. I just find his character on this show repulsive. -- Submitted By: (Bryan527) on May 23, 2012, 3:18 am - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
ok it is getting stupid!!!!!!!!!!! it just future ted telling his kids story about what happend in his life but he said the mother has a yellow umbrella and also when he was teaching the wrong class said the mother was in the same class room in college...JUST SHOW THE MOTHER ALL READY! -- Submitted By: (thedude19766) on April 17, 2012, 1:27 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
C'mon, whoever suggested Britney, just look at all the other stars joining the show for various reason. I liked most roles characters played by them. But learning the unpleasant facts about Harris' personal life spoils it a little bit. Hope I forget it when the next season starts. -- Submitted By: (JanineDoe) on August 16, 2011, 7:03 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
I feel bad for you, JonSmith. -- Submitted By: (JayCox) on March 7, 2011, 7:25 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
Although the concept of the "circle of close friends" is certainly not new, I find the writing for this show to be very clever. I must admit that Neil Patrick Harris as Barney the womanizer is a bit of a stretch. (no pun intended...OK, it is my intention) -- Submitted By: (Understated) on December 30, 2010, 12:06 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Incredibly I am STILL seeing ads for this show. How long's it been on the air now, 7, 8 years? At this rate whoever was supposed to meet the mother won't actually do so until age 50, let alone have the kids! And yes, Alyson Hannigan used to be hot (she was the best thing about that American Pie movie) but now she's got that "worked" look women get when they've been around the block too many times, if ya know what I mean. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on November 12, 2010, 6:12 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
How many of you needed to hear about NPH coming out to know he was gay? It was so obvious, from the start, and his "womanizing" was painfully embarrassing. I honestly don't understand how this show has become so popular. It seems so stupid with the same mini-plots playing week after week. The only reason I even looked at it was because of the cute little gal in the cast who had the famous flute abuse line in that movie, a while back. She was hot, at the outset, but now she is getting older and looking like she has a lot more miles on her. -- Submitted By: (jonsmith) on January 24, 2010, 2:47 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
what the hell you mean niall patrick harris coming out ruined it? that has nothing to do with his acting if anything it makes it funnier that somebody whos gay plays such a womanizer. -- Submitted By: (Glenngodfather) on January 8, 2010, 4:28 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
Feh. Just another show full of smarmy actors in their 30s playing young hip 20somethings in one big circle jerk of "cooler than thou". It's impossible to believe any of these shallow, self absorbed porn star wannabes could stay married to anyone for more than a week. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 10, 2009, 12:02 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote

Neil Patrick Harris coming out of the closet definitely hurt the show, and this is pretty unusual because for me personally, it takes alot for an off camera thing to ruin an in character performance. But having him as the womanizing playboy on the show in such a stark contrast for what he has revealed in his personal life just breaks that "4th wall" way too much. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on March 25, 2009, 5:16 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
What is your favorite HIMYM quote! There are so many! My newest favorite is When Lily proclaims Karen "such a douche," Marshall one-ups her: "Dude, she was heiress to the Masingill fortune." HAAAA Thru 4 seasons there are so many awesome Quotes! -- Submitted By: (MaggieWessel) on March 19, 2009, 7:43 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
