Music Groups - Rage Against the Machine

Rage Against the Machine (occasionally shortened to RATM or Rage) is an American rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California in 1991. The band's lineup, unchanged since formation, consists of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk. The group's music is distinguished primarily by their powerful stage energy, de la Rocha's rhyming styles and Morello's unorthodox guitar techniques.

"Capitalism is bad, so we're engaging in capitalism to spread the word that capitalism is bad!" And Googalslosh, we only bone the left when they deserve it. The right, too. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on August 11, 2011, 2:15 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
More Rage Against the Machine Laughs. from the 2011 Comic-Con News Release-In October Dark Horse Comics will release Orchid, a comic created by Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. Morello, who is one of the most politically active figures in the current music scene, brings his crusade for social justice to comics with Orchid, which is the dystopian saga of a future world ravaged by rising sea levels. The title character is a teenage prostitute, who leads a revolt against a corrupt society where the rich, who have taken the high ground for their walled cities and compounds, have utterly dominated the poor. Morello sent his class conscious script for Orchid to Gerard Way, the front man for My Chemical Romance and creator of The Umbrella Academy, who forwarded it to his publisher Dark Horse. Scott Hepburn will provide the art for Orchid, which Dark Horse is planning to publish as three miniseries. Shepard Fairey, who created the famous Obama poster for the 2008 campaign, has fashioned a unique variant cover for the first issue of Orchid -- Submitted By: (Hikariu) on August 4, 2011, 12:15 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Capitalism is the business of making money (aka capital). When kids open up a lemonade stand, that's capitalism on a smaller scale. Capitalism can be used for evil, such as selling grandma to make a buck, purposely selling broken/defective goods, making money at the expense of others, and otherwise cheating people out of money. If they're against capitalism done in the name of evil, OK, I am against that as well. However, if they're against all forms of capitalism, that makes them hypocrites. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on July 17, 2011, 1:07 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Here's where I stand on the whole RATM political issue, while trying to sound as neutral as I can: I'm fine if someone is critical of Capitalism or Corporatism (I'll admit that I get critical of them at times), but it does seem pretty hard to take them very seriously when they're millionaires and signed to a big record label. That's almost like a pro-oil car person driving an electric car, or an environmentalist driving a Hummer (or something similar). I will admit that I don't find some of their songs to be that bad. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on July 11, 2011, 10:23 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
RATM is like people who move to America from other nations and then complain about how horrible/inferior America is while never moving back because they're too busy raking in American money. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on April 5, 2011, 6:01 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
If you're rich and you rail against capitalism, you are a hypocrite. Nobody's allowed to be rich except you? It's like a man demanding others to be faithful to their spouses while himself having several extramarital affairs. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on April 5, 2011, 5:44 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
When one preaches something, I expect them to practice it. When you spout off communism, yet take advantage of a capitalist system , I find that hypocritical. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on April 5, 2011, 4:09 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Oh please, like none of you manipulate a given system to your own advantage. Is this bone the fish or bone the left? -- Submitted By: (Googalslosh) on April 5, 2011, 11:54 am - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
I had to laugh this morning, someone finally submitted that "Rage Against the Machine" never boned- because they "ROCK". Wah Wah, I hate America....And I work for SONY records! You revolutionary corporate employee hypocrites are so dangerous these days. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 5, 2011, 6:22 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
They have to be a part of the machine in order to make recordsin the first place. What do you expect? -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on January 6, 2011, 5:49 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Should have called themselves, Hypocrites for the Machine. -- Submitted By: (Mr.Zimpy) on January 4, 2011, 6:33 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Day 1 suckage. They complain nonstop about how evil capitalism is, but won't move to a country that is more in lockstep with their type of thinking. The only use I have for any RATM albums involves a loaded rifle and repeatedly yelling "pull". -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on November 8, 2010, 4:24 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Ah the Hypocrisy of RATM is timelesss, as it's stench reeks of slaw and vinegar as they dine off the capitalist table while decrying it at every opportunity- move to Cuba RATM. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on December 15, 2009, 3:17 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Replicant10k, I suppose you got that from the idiots at Fox News. Zack never directly said that the President should be assasinated. What he said was that George Bush should be tryed for war crimes and if found guilty, should be hung. Don't let those so called "reporters" brain wash you. PS: RATM never boned and their music is timeless! -- Submitted By: (tvfan) on December 15, 2009, 2:32 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I just love people who whine and cry about America, spouting the "good words" of Socialism/Communism, yet take every advantage of our capitalist system. Would probably believe them more if they practiced what they preached -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 12, 2009, 1:34 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
The crack their frontman made about assassinating then-President Bush was when they boned the fish so hard they split it in two. I mean, WHO SAYS SOMETHING THAT DISGUSTING and WHAT THE HELL WAS HE THINKING? I'm surprised the Secret Cervix didn't cart him off to Club Gitmo. -- Submitted By: (Replicant10k) on September 26, 2009, 8:21 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
